During the warmer months, you can hike the picturesque trails down to Lake Electra. Set up your rig, and make sure you pack a lunch, then set out for a day of fishing along the banks of the lake. This cabin was exceptional. The home was designed, decorated and well supplied with great thought. When we drove up to the cabin, it was beyond our expectations. The view from the balcony was amazing and the sweet smell of the spruce trees in the cold/cool air made you relive the thoughts of Christmas. Would definitely stay here again.
Very clean cabin with amazing views off of the back porch. They are serious when they say 4WD is necessary in winter/early spring. Road to the house has a 17% grade. Will stay again!
Incredible view, perfect weber grill, great beds. Access to the area was great as well. - s
Enough space for a family of six. Great location to travel to Durango, the mountain resort, or to Silverton or Ouray. Beautiful quiet views. Kitchen to make breakfast and dinner. Our family very much enjoyed our stay.
Awesome cabin. Beautiful view!
My wife and I absolutely loved this cabin and lacked NOTHING during our stay here. The cleanup fee is a little high along with the booking fee but the place and views made up for it.
This house was absolutely perfect. The views were amazing, the house was extremely cozy. Kitchen furnished to the max. We do wish the porch had a gate for the kids but other than that it was amazing. We will definitely be back!
WE LOVED THE WAY THE CABIN WAS ARRANGED AND FURNISHED. THE VIEW WAS SPECTACULAR . WE WILL BE BACK.
The view from the deck was spectacular. I would definitely stay again.
My wife and I spent a wonderful week at Primrose Cabin. Everything about this cabin was wonderful. From the furnishings to the appliances, and of course the view, it was just a great place to relax and take in our surroundings. Very comfortable. Usually online pics are better than reality but in this case I think reality was better than the pics. We loved our stay and hope to return again as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
Great view off the deck
The Primrose Lodge is a perfect place for a Colorado vacation. The facilities are the best and the view is unmatched. Located on Spruce Mesa above Electra Lake, the cabin is close to a whole host of activities such as skiing, fishing, canoeing, visiting historic Silverton and Durango, or just resting and reading. We especially appreciated the all new appliances and flat screen televisions. The cabin's Wi-Fi system has been upgraded to a remarkable speed. The highlight of each year for us is always staying at the Primrose Cabin.
Wonderful cabin with fantastic views!! Plenty big for a family of 6 with 2 bedrooms and a loft. Ate our meals on the beautiful balcony. We would definitely come back and stay at this cabin again.
This was a beautiful home and was just right for our family of 6. It was very clean and in a peaceful setting. The view is great and and the cooler temps were a nice break from our Texas summers. The kids loved counting the number of bear decorations in the house! Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you for helping us make some fun memories on our Colorado vacation!
The cabin was really nice and cozy. The view from the deck was awesome. Would love to stay there again. Loved all of the bear signs.
House was beautiful and so was the view!
What an excellent week! Views are amazing from this house! The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and coffee making (we were able to cook a full Thanksgiving meal). Plenty of seating in living area. Dish TV and board games and outlets for charging electronics lol! Skiing 5 minutes away. An entire room for storing ski clothes. The property manager just a text away and she is excellent! Close enough to Durango for Walmart runs and Dinner in town. Stars are big and bright at night, just like these Texans like!
Very comfortable home with plenty of towels, dishes, appliances in good working order, beds comfortable, TV's in every bedroom and a big screen in spacious living area with great views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Would definitely come again!
There are a couple of sayings in the mountain that certainly apply to the Primrose Lodge. One is that "If you are lucky enough to be in the mountains, you are lucky enough." The other is that "the mountains are calling and I must go." The time we spend at the Primrose Lodge is the highlight of our year! My computer screen saver shots are filled with pictures taken from the deck of the cabin. The view down the Animas valley are priceless and change in beauty from sunup to sundown. The cabin has three bedroom areas and a very spacious family room. There is a dining room table that can easily seat eight but there is also a small table perfect for game nights. Near the patio doors there is a nice niche for reading and just looking at the mountains. The property is hidden in the mountains but is only a few minutes away from Haviland Lake and the Rapp riding stables. You can get into Durango in about 20 minutes and Silverton in less than an hour. Durango Mountain Resort is about a ten minute drive. The cabin sits at 8600 feet so even in August most nights are in the high 40s before it warms up to pleasant 70s during the day. To make the Lodge even nicer, the Primroses are installing all new appliances, new family room furniture, and new larger flat screen TVs in the bedrooms. We love the Primrose Lodge.
We loved it at Primrose Cabin, and we were so sad to leave!
The cabin is beautiful, and my son loved sleeping in the lofted bedroom. It was a great experience! Both of my kids loved sitting on the back deck, and also loved sitting in the mudroom to watch the chipmunks, squirrels, and deer.
The location is perfect, and was a great jump off point to get to Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Ridgway, and Gunnison. There was good fishing at Haviland Lake, and Gold Medal fishing at Gunnison (about 2 hours north of the cabin).
Downtown Durango was a great place to visit for a few hours. Carver Brewery has tasty burgers, fries, and homemade root beer, and Maria's Bookstore was great for whiling away time looking at books and toys.
There are so many great things to say about our trip, and we will be back to visit again soon!!
They are one and the same , just love the place our second stay in 9 months, the goodie or Welcome bag is a really nice classy touch. Now the view is EPIC! The neighborhood is just a forest with a nice little road that runs though it, been coming to Durango for 30 years and this place just rocks it out of the park.
This place is an absolutely amazing place to stay. The pictures do not do it justice. It is secluded and peaceful. Perfect place to disconnect from regular life and unwind.
Had a great time staying here. The local property manager was not very responsive, I had several calls to him with questions or need for help that went unanswered and unreturned. Other than that the cabin was amazing and in a great location, very cozy. Would definitely stay again.
This proper was in a beautiful location with an amazing view. Truly a Colorado experience.
Just a great winter cabin destination.
