Charming & historic dog-friendly retreat near the Boise River Greenbelt!
Located about six and a half miles from downtown, this sunny and cute one bedroom restored farmhouse is just off the Boise River Greenbelt, on a one-acre corner lot. Perfect for a couple or small family looking for a convenient vacation home near the river, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and the many other outdoor attractions Boise has to offer, this quaint but well-stocked cottage has both an urban and rural appeal!
The lovely new deck with pergola greets you out front. As you step through the doors, a soothing interior awaits. A small breakfast nook right by the window is the ideal spot for enjoying a homemade breakfast or light dinner; the open, cheerful kitchen has everything needed for meal preparation. You'll feel right at home in this bright space as refill your coffee cup, grab another buckwheat pancake, and head back to the dining table to finish reading the paper.
Neutral earth tones with bursts of color compose the cozy living room. There's seating for all in this pleasant space, as well as plush carpeting and plenty of windows for an abundance of natural light. For times when you're not outside strolling along the greenbelt, you can relax on the couch with a good book. There is also a flat screen TV with cable and a DVD player for movie nights. Just make the popcorn and you're all set!
The bedroom is located in the back of the house and holds a queen-sized bed decked out in fresh new linens and a red floral print cover for a restful night's sleep. Small bedside tables, decorative reading lamps, and built-in drawers complete the room, along with a lovely Bentwood rocking chair. The bathroom has been recently remodeled and has a shower. In addition to the queen bed, the living room couch pulls out to a very comfortable full sized bed for kids or a second couple, so this house can accommodate up to four guests.
Even though the space is small, there is a lot of character and stylish designer touches throughout, such as modern, floral lamps and quiet seating areas. There is also a washer and dryer for your use, as well as a convenient mud room for storing bikes and hiking boots when not in use. And if you have a furry family member, bring them along! One canine friend can join in on the trip, though a nightly fee per dog and a minimum fee per stay will apply. Although, please be aware that this house is located between a somewhat busy commuter street and a downhill canal; the yard is large but unfenced, so children and your dog should always be supervised when outside.
In the summer, head right next door to Barber Park with your inner tubes for a fun afternoon of floating down the Boise River. Less than a mile and a half from the house, you can enjoy an evening outside watching the Bard's greatest works at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. The season runs in repertory June through September and is fun for the whole family.
For more outdoor adventure, bring your bikes for a scenic ride around town or in the nearby foothill trails. Perfect for after dinner strolls or early morning jogs, the Boise Greenbelt Trail is 22 miles of gorgeous tree-lined pathway that follows the along river with picturesque views of the city anytime of year. Also nearby, Lucky Peak is only six miles away for boating, fishing, swimming or just having a lazy, afternoon picnic in the sun.
In addition to making the short drive into downtown Boise, there are many restaurants and shops in Bown Crossing, about a mile and a half from the house. Pick up some Snake River Organic Brown Ale at Bier:Thirty or treat yourselves to a steak dinner at the Tavern at Bown Crossing.
When you're looking for a outdoor getaway to Boise that's close to hiking, biking, theater, or just fun on the river, look no further than this cute, little Barber Park Cottage!

It’s a beautiful place to stay
We enjoyed having the space and convenience of a furnished house, especially a nice backyard and walk paths around the corner for our dog
This house is a cute little escape located near a great park, walking paths and the freeway. For anyone new to the area it's perfect!
We loved this little house in SE Boise. Perfect for our stay! Located in a quiet area near Indian Creek, which was really nice to hear at night. Right by an Oregon Trail point of interest as well.
The house is older and rustic, but has all of the amenities we needed for a great stay. The home was clean and well-stocked with kitchen needs for home cooking and comfortable for evening relaxation. If you are looking for "modern", this might not be your perfect fit. But if you are looking for rustic, quiet and cute, this is it!
Charming and so close to so many points of interest for us. Loved it! We will def stay again next time we visit Boise.
Clean and well equipped, great location.
The home was clean and comfortable with all the amenities I needed. Situated right in between a walking trail and the Boise river it was a perfect location. If you want to float the river the put in is literally right down the road.
This was a clean house and conveniently located to the airport, places to eat, and the interstate. Perfect for a small family who needs a washer and dryer. Stocked with coffee and necessities and far superior to a hotel when you have small children.
It was like staying at home. The house was clean, and well stocked. At the price, it was a terrific deal. I would definitely stay there again.
Great location to explore Barber Park & the river green belt. Within a few miles of quaint bars & restaurants, and a bike shop to rent bikes if you so choose.
Cottage itself is older but comfortable, other than the shower that is super small. Definitely manageable for a long weekend thou. Nice to have the washer/dryer in the basement as well. Property manager was responsive when we had a problem with the kitchen sink & promised a partial refund for the inconvenience.
We loved the location and the yard space. It was perfect for our small family. We rode our bikes to Bowns Crossing and on the greenbelt.
The cottage was very cute and quiet. It was in a good location, easily accessible to downtown and the freeway. My only complaint is that it does not have blackout shades in the bedroom, making it very hard to sleep in past sunrise (which would be nice to do while on vacation).
We loved how close to downtown Boise this was, but far enough away that we still enjoyed the peace and quiet. The kitchen was equipped so that we could make a few dinners at home which was nice after a long day of sightseeing. Short walk to Barber Park which was nice too.
Decent inside. Crummy outside. Beware of EXCESSIVE HIDDEN FEES!
We are sorry to see this guest felt the fees were hidden. All fees are visible before booking, and guests are always welcome to call with any questions about cost. The outside will be receiving a spring clean-up when the weather is warmer. Thank you!
This is a tidy little one-bedroom cottage in a good location with easy access to all things Boise. Barber Park is a terrific walk, especially beautiful in the falling snow.
Barber Park cottage is a good deal for us, close to our grandchildren and a good size for two people. No problem in recommending for two looking for basic accommodation in this part of Boise.
We were very comfortable in this sweet little farmhouse. Although it was small
it had so many great features. It kept warm or cool as needed, had a very adequate kitchen and loved that we also had a large size washer and dryer in the
basement. The cable tv worked out great for us and we enjoyed some favorite
movies with the dvd player.
Loved the location and are and view of beautiful mountains. This was a
great little place and we'd gladly stay here again.
This little home is in a convenient location in a decent area that is easy walk to Barber Park and short drive to shopping, highway and downtown. It is in very good condition, good amenities and spacious for 2 people, might get a little crowded for 4 but doable. Has a plum tree in the backyard with fruit ripening when we were there in late August so we made 2 plum cakes. Could use some shelf space in the bathroom, which is a little small.
We stayed here as temporary housing while our new home was being built and after our previous home sold. It met our needs and prevented us from having to kennel our dog for 3 weeks.
Overall we were satisfied with the cottage. It was clean and well maintained. It was close to the Greenbelt and Barber Park which is a big plus. It is about ten to fifteen minutes to downtown Boise so if you plan on spending time downtown you will need to drive and park. We had an issue with the TV and the DVD player but I am sure that can be easily corrected.
Barber Park Cottage was the perfect property for 2 of us to spend 4 nights in a retreat/healing atmosphere.
We are return guests and as usual Barber Park was satisfactory and a good deal given the cost. The heater was fine and the little cottage was very comfortable.
I was in Boise for business and needed a place where I could stay with my wife, daughter and doggie, so we booked this great little cottage by Barber Park just a few hours before we drove into Boise in a snowstorm. I loved how easy it was to book the house through Vacasa. The house was not fancy, but really comfortable and warm on a very cold night. Barber Park is just around the corner, so if we come back here in the summer, I'll try to get this place again so that we can go tubing down the Boise River on a hot day. There's also a backroad route to downtown Boise so you can avoid the freeway traffic. Great Boise rental!
Very nice cottage, would stay again. Love location and proximity to Barber park and green belt.Easy access to downtown, freeway, dining and activities! The height and angle of TV was only negative. Vacasa is on top of their game!
The house is within walking distance of a great park on the river. A great spot for walking, jogging or just relaxing.
Good little place in a great location except for the busy intersection. But, the house is insulated well and traffic slows down enough to sit on the front porch and enjoy watching the sunset light up the mountains. Bring a tie down for your pooch if you plan on hanging outside.. no fence. Overall, this cottage in Boise was charming and comfortable. We would stay here again!
The Barber Park cottage is perfect for us. Close to our son and his family. A short walk to the Boise River and the Park. Comfortable and affordable...very nice.
ps. A covey of quail in the back yard!
This is a cute little house and it could be very comfortable with just a few minor changes. The TV is way up in the corner so it is uncomfortable to sit and watch it. Either wall mount it lower or set it on a low cabinet. And it could use some new kitchen chairs. Otherwise, the house is nice and well furnished.
This cozy cottage a a great spot to be close to a variety of activities and out of the hustle and bustle of downtown. It is quiet, peaceful, very clean & well equipped and particularly convenient to Barber Park, the Greenbelt for walking, biking and Bown Crossing. While the setting is not that great (neighbors yard is really trashy & the street is busy) the cottage itself is great with a very well kept yard and screened from the neighbors, plenty of parking, well equipped, good bed and very clean.
The location was fine and not hard to get to and the evenings/nights were very quiet. The bed and sheets were very clean and comfortable. Shower is quite small and a bit difficult for a full sized adult to maneuver in. No grill but overall clean.
We enjoyed our time at the house.. We will definitely stay there again.
We prefer VRBO sites to hotels whenever we can and this place was no exception. The owners did a very nice job of fixing up an old house from windows, flooring, bath, furnishings, etc. We were very comfortable here, the kitchen had everything you needed to prepare meals and we really appreciated the washer and dryer on site. Thank you for letting us bring our 2 little pugs they enjoyed their walks to the park!
I was please with the property, local was a bit removed from the city with limited options for dinner or groceries but that's not your fault. Property was very clean, next time I will look for a property with a tub option...
This was a perfect place for us to stay. It was on the edge of the urban growth in Boise. We could look out the windows at the mountains. From the photos of this rental, it looked like it was in the country. It is actually in a nice neighborhood. We were surprised when we first arrived because there was a truck with a snowmobile on a trailer in the driveway and there were junk cars in the yard next door. The first impression had us worried but it was just the one house that looked a bit off. All of the other houses were nice.
The house is on a slightly busy interception but it is extremely quiet at night. The yard is private and secluded. Although the house is older, everything in it worked great. It was clean and well-kept. It felt like a cozy home.
The only problem for me was that the TV was up high and in a corner. The angle caused me some neck pain. But my husband didn't seemed bothered by the position of the TV.
Downtown Boise is just minutes away on streets that have little traffic.
This home is one of our favorite vacation rentals now.
A great place to stay with single family. We had two small kids with us (5 Months and 2.5yrs) and it was set up well for us. Just big enough and the right safety precautions were thought of. We did have an issue with our toddler locking himself and our infant in the master bedroom. Lots of Drama. We called the number provided and within no time the property owner and Vacasa staff worked a solution and the crisis was resolved. Do not stay anywhere else in Boise!!!!! Great affordable place.
We rented the property solely because it was close to where my daughter and her family live and we spent the holidays w/them. It was extremely clean and suited our needs perfectly. Because we spent so little time at the house, I can't really speak for 'daily' living there. We slept and showered and watched some tv. Boise is a fun town, plenty to do w/in short distances, winter or summer. I think the place is good for a couple or a family w/a couple small children unless you're really into togetherness. We had an issue w/the furnace and the management company was right on it even though it was later at night. No complaints about how they responded. Nice clean place to enjoy Boise. Would stay again.
We loved the country cottage feel with modern conveniences It made us feel right at home it was a great fit for our small family. We look forward to staying here again.
We really loved staying in this house vs a hotel. Very clean. The view was great and very convenient to boise!!!!
Thank you for the great review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay, and look forward to your next visit.
Barber Park cottage was very quaint, cozy, and comfortable. The yard, with its nice landscaping, plum and walnut trees was very peaceful and private. The only adjoining neighbors have several vehicles parked along the dividing property line. This gave us a little concern when we arrived but we had no problems with them and they were always very quiet.
Nice location, pretty view out front window. Kitchen furnishings were lacking. Otherwise quite comfortable for two people.
Barber Park truly is a home away from home. Everything one needs is there .. Actually I was a bit surprised. Just bring your personal items. The property was extremely clean . All appliances worked perfectly. The bed was soooo comfortable. Although the street is busy, safety and security was never an issue. I recommend this property to anyone who visits Boise. Thank you guys for offering the property to your visitors. It is way better than hotel rooms and the price is very reasonable ... Thanks again .. Linda King
