Our stay was awesome, the home was very clean my family enjoyed it!

My family and I loved this place. It was a very beautiful home, very comfortable and a place where you can make awesome memories. Also loved being able to fish and bbq without leaving the place. LIV also has a good vibe. Will definitely come back soon.

I am leaving an overall 5 star review, though there were a few things that I found unpleasant. For starters when we checked in there was a $90 fee for staying at the park and using the amenities, which I dont mind but being aware of this fee in advance would have been nice to know about. I have 4 kids and taking vacations is a luxury for us and money is a factor. I know it may not be for most but for us it is and I know it may only be $90 but it just cut into our budget. If we would've known about that fee we could've acounted for it in advance. The house itself was very beautiful! My kids and boyfriend really enjoyed being able to fish right off the canal every single day, and I mean every single day! The house was right on the canal, it had 2 full bathrooms, a living room, an extra couch, full washer and dryer and a full kitchen which was so lovely to be able to wash towels, our clothes and we were even able to cook every day! The door to the master room was a pocket door but it was slightly off the hinges which made for opening and closing the door quite difficult. Oh, and the little black ants....they were a neucence!!! They got into everything and wouldn't go away! They ruined our bag of cereal, fruit, and just anything thay was left on the counter. It seemed like nothing we did worked to get rid of them which was very frustrating since it was our breakfast things that were on the counter....but the cereal was left on top of the fridge in hopes it would be safe from the ants but even that fell victim up there. Other than thise few minor inconveniences, I would stay at this house again and even in LIV! It's a quiet community with sweet locals and plenty to do if you're just trying to have a chill day at the house but not in the house. There was a full golf course, a mini putt putt course, swimming pool with indoor and outdoor swimming pool and they even hold events.

Where is Port Isabel, TX?

Port Isabel is located along the south shore of Laguna Madre, right where the Queen Isabella Causeway begins taking travelers across the water over to South Padre Island. Just six miles to the west is the tranquil community of Laguna Vista. Part of Cameron County, Port Isabel is ringed with water and because of this, it has always been an important harbor that was frequently fought over during the American Civil War.

Things to do in Port Isabel

With a historic lighthouse rising from the center of town, Port Isabel is a community that truly embraces its history with three museums, multiple monuments, and several other worthwhile points of interest.

The towering Port Isabel Lighthouse, built in 1852, appears on the National Register of Historic Places and is open to the general public. Climb the 75 winding stairs and take in the spectacular view from the perch 50 feet above the ground.

The surrounding grounds are also ideal for strolling or kicking back on a sunny day and several events take place here, including movie nights (with family-friendly films projected right onto the side of the lighthouse), as well as a few special market days with local vendors selling food, gifts, and handmade arts and crafts. Additional museums of note include the Port Isabel Historic Museum and the Treasures of the Gulf Museum.

Kids of all ages will thrill to a trip aboard the Black Dragon, a 75-foot-long replica pirate ship offering interactive day, sunset, and firework cruises complete with a crew of wastrels, brigands, and other scurvy dogs. Several local marinas also offer bay and deep sea fishing charters for eager anglers looking to land kingfish, shark, amberjack, and tuna.

Landlubbers will find plenty of opportunities for window shopping and delicious seafood feasts, as Port Isabel is home to some of the best seafood restaurants in the area.

Short trips from Port Isabel

Just across the Queen Isabella Causeway, South Padre Island is a prime destination for seaside fun, offering miles of white, sandy beaches for swimming, sunbathing, and wildlife viewing. Indulge in a variety of watersports including kiteboarding, standup paddle boarding, kite sailing, and scuba diving, or take the whole family to the 25-acre Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark.

Port Isabel is also conveniently close to the Mexican border with the historic city of Matamoros located just 25 miles away, directly across the border from Brownsville, TX, on the southern bank of the Rio Grande.

A popular, year-round destination for snowbirds and spring breakers alike, consider one of our Port Isabel beach house rentals or condo rentals for your next South Texas getaway.
