Find a light-filled country escape at this studio-style Langley home, a beautiful Whidbey Island cottage with a wrap-around deck, a tree-lined garden, access to a private beach, and a wondrous location for enjoying the local trails, restaurants, and pastoral landscapes.

This tidy, single-level tiny home sits in a clearing among the evergreens, equidistant from the towns of Langley (six miles southeast) and Freeland (six miles south). Marvel at the views of Saratoga Passage and Mt. Baker from the front windows on a clear day, stroll a quarter-mile down the road to the private beach club and fish from the community pier, and spend your afternoons hiking the Bluff Trail at Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve (25 miles northwest) and wandering the shores of Deception Pass State Park (44 miles north).

Whether you're seeking a romantic escape or a bit of solitude, you'll find a welcoming home in the air-conditioned living space. Begin each morning with a cup of Useless Bay Coffee in downtown Langley and return home to prepare breakfast in the galley kitchen (with a dishwasher), read the newspaper or browse the free WiFi on the wrap-around deck, and test your skills at fishing from the pier at the private beach club.

Sit down for lunch (and incredible peach, marionberry, and loganberry pies) at Whidbey Pies Cafe 14 miles west, and spend a quiet afternoon at home playing board games, reading on the deck, or watching movies on the flatscreen cable TV and DVD player. Come dinnertime, you can light the gas grill for an al fresco meal in the garden, head out to catch a performance at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, and end the evening with a soothing soak in the jetted bathtub.

Stayed here for a work trip while in Langley and really enjoyed the beach access and wildlife. The bath is absolutely clutch after doing physical labor! Some reviews said this place was small and cluttered but I did not find that to be the case.

The eco friendly house is set in a wonderful tranquil area.
We loved the house except for too much unnecessary furniture in the living room. The China hutch and dresser filled with keepsakes prevents better utilization of the space. Other than that it was great.

The minute you pull into the driveway you can tell that this place is special. I loved waking up each day to deer in the yard, birds chirping, and just the extraordinary green and blue landscape that Whidbey has to offer. It was a perfectly livable space but, as with any review, there are areas of improvement.

First, the lockbox. I know this may be a simple thing for most but I have nerve damage in my thumb from a can lid, the can won. I physically couldn’t push the button on the left and pull down the panel with my other hand. If you have any issues with your hand(s), you should probably reach out before arrival. I lucked out and the owner was near.

Second, believe it or not, I arrived on a beautiful sunny day only to find that the power was out! The reason PSE gave was vegetation. The final step you do at check out is to drop the temp to 59, so I went into a cold, dark house, put my groceries into the freezer and hoped power would be back soon. It would’ve been nice if there had been flashlights, blankets, maybe some warm hands, and frozen ice packs on the fridge (that don’t leak) to ease the stress of a full day of travel. Luckily, power was restored at 1am PST, but until then, you have to know I was wearing all my suitcase contents!

Third, the pics are great however, a couch has been added to the mix. It simply doesn’t fit in the space. When I arrived the bed was already down and I could barely navigate around all the furniture, let alone find somewhere for my luggage. I ended up having to move and unplug items just to have space to charge my phone. The house has a lot of unique items in it, but the bottom line is that you have to find a way to create space for your stuff because every possible surface and floor space is covered.

The biggest, uh-oh, was under the bed. As mentioned, when I arrived it was already down, which was lovely because I could crawl into a warm place. The next morning I was looking for a creative place to stow my stuff and thought of under the bed as a possibility. When I looked it was covered in dust! To the point, that I’m not sure when it was last cleaned (I have a picture); my luggage did not go under the bed, nor did I change it to the table.

Another positive, the food options in Langley! I might not have had a table to eat at, but whoa, the food was amazing! Trash is out the back and around to the right, took me a minute to find it.

All in all, it’s a lovely place to be, great views, good walks (I don’t recommend going on the pier, as it is gone), cozy, good shower, coffee makers galore, perfect appliances; it was just those final details that would’ve changed how I packed!

So, grab that extra parka, flashlight, swiffer, and plan on parkouring down a pier and you’re set!

All the little mementos were so sweet to look at as I drank my coffee with 2 deer in the backyard.

Nicely constructed, close to walkable beaches, beautiful views.

I stayed here alone over Thanksgiving weekend. The perfect getaway from the city and holiday expectations. It was just what my soul needed. This little bungalow is so charming! I love all the nostalgic tschochkes and photos, there's a lot of history here. The piano had a book of Christmas songs on it, and I was delighted that I was still able to play after 40 years :-) In the piano bench there was more sheet music, some of it with the owner's name written in his childhood handwriting. I loved watching the trees at night through the clerestory windows. There is a bit of a view of the bay also. The kitchen is pretty well stocked with cookware and serving utensils, but I'd recommend a new skillet and can opener. WiFi service was good enough to host a Zoom meeting and watch movies on my laptop. Cell phone service was spotty. I had trouble with the keybox when I arrived, but an onsite property manager was dispatched within 15 minutes to get me in the door. She was very helpful. I wish I could have stayed another night. I'd like to come back next year! Maybe I'll leave a new skillet and can opener as a housewarming gift :-)

Nicely constructed, but decor — in spite of its family history, which we always love — feels more like a storage unit than a vacation haven. Too many pieces for such a small space. Outstanding spa tub — my wife was in heaven! Very nice dishes, yet cookware and utensils sorely need to be replaced. Overall, we really enjoyed it, but could have enjoyed it even more.

Small but spacious. Partial water view is soothing.
Athena D. Jul 2021
Great natural light, quiet little area. Watch out for deer.

This house was within easy distance to Langley yet was private and quiet. The house was impeccable and well equipped for cooking. A great find!
Sasha W. May 2021
Wonderful home with perfect size for what we wanted. Nice to walk to the beach and very centrally located to get to Langley or Freeland.

We had a great weekend stay in this cottage. It's full of antique memorabilia from the family's history, and this family is closely tied to the development of Baby Island heights.

We really enjoyed the beach access and loved all the wildlife on display. We saw a family of seals and eagles (5 of them!) all around Baby Island. There were also four deer hanging out around the cottage nearly our entire stay.

The cottage itself is cozy and is good for one or two people. The bed is comfortable enough and the kitchen is pretty well stocked. You might want to bring your own knives if you plan to cook a lot though.

I loved everything about Saratoga passage. I loved the history in the house. The family photos and art made me feel right at home. And that Baldwin piano!! Wish i knew how to play.
I will and have highly recommended this place to my family and friends. And I will definitely be back!💜
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
I also left a note for the owner. I hope he recieves it

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our favorite part were the friendly deer that were there to greet us when we pulled in. We saw them all over the yard grazing for the next two days. The short walk to the beach to see some otters was definitely a favorite as well. Our first night, on the deck, we could hear the otters from the beach, and it was very peaceful. The house was well kept, and we enjoyed our time there.
Liesa M. Mar 2021
The place was perfect clean well.equipt and the quiet escape we needed . Compared to other properties on the island it was so affordable as well. We will definately be back !
Alyssa K. Mar 2021
Really lovely spot with lots of bald eagles and deer. The kitchen had more tools than most rentals, so I was able to cook as much as I wanted. The jetted tub was also a plus! I came here for a weekend and enjoyed myself immensely, playing the piano, walking down to the private beach, enjoying the views. I would come back here in a heartbeat...

A note... there is a couch now in the space that is not shown in the photos. It makes the place a wee bit crowded when the bed is down.
Dean S. Nov 2020
This lovely get away was everything we needed to rejuvenate. The history lesson provided inside the bungalow added character and the easy walk to the private beach and Baby Island is so beautiful!
cindy k. Nov 2020
It was a really cute small house. Super clean. Easy to find.
Dacia G. Oct 2020
Beautiful home. Perfect for our needs. Clean. We loved having a piano to play. (Could he tuned) but who cares really. Gorgeous surroundings! Our first experience with Vacasa and we loved every minute!! Thank you!
Dana S. Oct 2020
This place is a small home in a beautiful setting. It’s quiet, comfortable and very affordable. It’s feels bigger than advertised.
We will definitely stay there again.
Mindy G. Oct 2020
We love this cabin. Set back from the road so we could sit on the deck and enjoy the deer in the yard and the beautiful trees.
Will be back soon!
Anne G. Sep 2020
Great for a short getaway! Cottage is pretty and clean and in a quiet, nice location. Owners were super responsive when I had a question about the alarm. Only one piece of advice for future guests: be prepared for the table that pulls out of the wall! It's surprisingly heavy.
Anthony L. Sep 2020
This cozy getaway spot is so peaceful and quiet that deer casually graze in the front and back yard daily. Also, the bathtub has jets in it, kind of like a hot tub (just be sure to boil some extra water to have hot water on-hand, as it's easy to run out before the tub gets full), so it's perfect for jumping into at the end of a day of reading, visiting the nearby beach, and/or hanging out with those aforementioned deer. At only 10-minute's drive from Langley and all its wonderful people, food, and bunnies, this is the perfect place to stay while visiting Whidbey Island!
Manager response:
Hi, Anthony! We appreciate your feedback and are so glad you enjoyed your accommodations. There is sufficient hot water to fill the tub if no appliances requiring hot water are running at the same time. Thank you!
Edith K. Aug 2020
Compact and fully loaded. Great location, relaxing and serene. We will return!
Joseph F. Aug 2020
Quiet...quiet...quiet. Not my type of furnishings but the wife loved it!!!!! Great location to explore the island.
Kadi N. Aug 2020
Was such an amazing view, great walk to a beautiful little beach access and the property was wonderful. Went the extra mile with everything going on with COVID-19
Neighbors were great and friendly.
Eric G. Aug 2020
Love the beach
Jennifer D. Jul 2020
It is a nice small home with a great back garden and good deck space. It felt a bit like a family storage space versus consumer facing rental. The Murphy bed mattress was comfortable, the shower was good and nice to have a good washer and dryer. The kitchen utensils, cutting boards, pots and pans, coffee maker, BBQ, and cups (no glass just plastic) need an upgrade. If you just want a place to stay and you'll mostly go out then it is a good home base. If you're trying to isolate a bit and cook in maybe bring your own kitchen stuff. The highlights are the quiet, the beautiful outdoor space with lots of deer visiting, and the AC unit. I didn't go to the private beach and dock but it seems to be just a 5 min walk.
TEDDY H. Jul 2020
Great blissful property and location on Whidbey Island. Unfortunately had a bit of an alarm scare on entry to the property but was able to over come it. Beautiful and well thought out property. The low tides at the private beach leads you to Baby Island which is a great experience, who knows you may see some resting seals or if lucky, a giant elephant seal. Will definitely be back.
Jade S. Mar 2020
This place is quite spacious for a tiny house, and the view from the front window is a dream. If you like peace and quiet, along with some armchair deer watching (they’re incredibly relaxed and plentiful little things— always a joy to see in the yard), then this is definitely the place for you. The beach is also an easy walk from here as well. The house itself is immaculate, with everything you could possibly need. Definitely an amazing spot whether you’re staying in or off to see what this cute little island has to offer!
Darcy C. Dec 2019
This quaint Little place is furnished with everything you need almost like as if the person that lived there 100 years ago never left it's very cool I would love to come back someday
Christian T. Sep 2019
It's a lovely tiny house for a couple. Why eat out every night when you can buy some fresh fish and grill? Easy walk to the water (5 minutes) and convenient drive to both Langley and Freeland. Say hello to deer visitors on the lawn.
Kadonna K. Sep 2019
The cottage was charming and we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings.
Derek Z. Aug 2019
Every thing that we were looking for in great location
Andrea K. Jul 2019
It was a very nice, clean, and quiet place with everything one could ask for. It's not far from stores and a beautiful drive to get to the property. We loved it!
Kristen L. Jul 2019
My daughter and I loved the feel of being comfortable as if it was our own home. The amenities are perfect. You couldn’t ask for anything more.
The deer in the yard were one of the best things we enjoyed.
Ciarelle V. Jul 2019
We had a lovely time, very clean and ideal location by Saratoga.

This place is the perfect stay; clean, comfortable, close to the ferry, close to town, quiet, full of interesting family history. I would stay here every time I visit.

I loved staying here! Just right for me, traveling alone. Comfy, clean, warm. Giant green yard in the back, use of beach if you want it. Quiet and peaceful. I really enjoyed staying here.
Michael C. Jul 2018
Immaculate home. Just the right size, just the right amount of privacy and lots of charm that made for an amazing getaway.
Heather S. Jul 2018
We enjoyed our stay at this tiny home. It is hard to say what we loved the most. Baby Island Heights is a beautiful neighborhood. The five minute walk down to the beach is wonderful. When the tide is out you can actually walk out to Baby Isalnd. The baby seals were amazing! The home itself was clean, well stocked with utensils and we enjoyed the vintage charm inside the home. The french doors and high windows make the tiny home feel open and helped to bring the beautiful outdoors inside. We were visited by several deer, rabbits and loved watching the wild birds fly around. Very peaceful and fun atmosphere!
Ayana U. Feb 2018
The "Eco-friendly cottage" has a modern, clean architectural feel, but full of quaint, warm antiques. We enjoyed the piano, jetted tub, Scrabble game, and French talk radio! The location of the cottage is also convenient: just a short drive into Langley, and with neighboring houses just far enough away to feel more secluded. We had great deer neighbors to greet us when we arrived, and enjoyed the deck (even when it started snowing!)
