Historic lakefront home with WiFi, firepit & gas grill - minutes to water

Drop a fishing line in Lake Buchanan off the shore or sunbathe on the beach to bask in the slow pace of life here at Seahorse Cove. This spacious property sits right on one of Texas's best bass fishing lakes, also stocked with catfish and gar. Tie off your boat on-site in the cove or slide a rented kayak into the water from the sandy stretch of beach.

Originally a Texas Ranger's bunkhouse, this beautiful 1930s home retains all its original vintage charm from a location atop a cove shaped like a horse’s head. Take in the calming lake views from the covered back porch and let your worries slip away. The full kitchen, along with the stone fireplace and large windows, gives you plenty of space to spread out, while the cozy cabin makes a perfect spot for relaxing after a long day in the sunshine. Connect to the free WiFi to post photos of your big catch, treat your friends to a BBQ using the gas grill, or step back outside to build a fire in the firepit.

If you're up for some cliff jumping, you can explore Inks Lake State Park about nine miles to the south. There are several nearby wineries and the Vanishing Texas River Cruise is definitely worth checking out. A convenience store and Buchanan General Store are nearby and Burnet is only 15 minutes away if you want to visit Fort Croghan Historic Museum, the Hill Country Motorheads Museum, or buy groceries.

Reserve your spot at Seahorse Cove today!

Very quiet and clean place. Everything workout great. Support was great and helpful. Will stay there if time allows in future.

The property is beautiful. Access to water on 3 sides and deer everywhere. I didn't see s better location anywhere else during our stay. There are plenty of million dollars homes around the lake, none of them had better location, views, wildlife, etc. than this. The house has a great story to it and although not very big, it has everything you need. I would buy this property if it was for sale. We'll be back for sure.

Very beautiful and peaceful. We loved the sunsets

Courageous sunset views over the lake, and nice updates have appeared to have been made as well. Highly recommend 😎

This little hideout was exactly what my now fiancé and I needed. The house has everything two people could need. The grounds were spacious and felt very private even when getting closer to the lake shore. It was perfect. I almost caught a fish with my bamboo pole haha. Would definitely recommend for a couple who wants to get away for a bit.

Great secluded cabin with beautiful sunset views... close to Inks Lake State Park & lots of other activities in the area. Bring plenty of water for drinking (the water has a strong sulfur smell) and keep an eye out for scorpions, but also deer, raccoon, geese, heron & hummingbirds! A great escape from the day-to-day.

Nice, quiet cabin. We loved the beach entry!
10am check-our was too early. We had to wake up early and rush to pack bags & our Jon boat.
Most places offer an 11am or noon check- out, even with the covid cleaning protocols in place. Would’ve been nice to have another hour to pack up & check out. Other than the early check out, nice little cabin. Would stay again, if check out time was adjusted.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback and have notified the local manager of your suggestions. We hope to host you again soon!

The cabin was okay, but the private lake front is what made the whole trip! There is a boat ramp, private beach and even a trail to walk along the land. It was beautiful, quiet and private. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

My husband and I rented this little gem to get away, relax and connect. I must say we were so impressed. This cabin is right on the lake and the scenery is beautiful. The property itself is really big, there are tons of amazing rocks and flowers and we caught a 30 lb catfish!! 💕❤️ Loved our stay and highly recommend if you’re looking for a country getaway!

My boyfriend and I rented this spot to get out of Austin for a few days for a little R&R. This cabin had everything we needed - dishes, utensils, towels, cookware, etc. which was really nice. Bed was comfortable, everything was clean, and the grounds were nice and spacious. We enjoyed having both the cove side for our canoe and the "beach" side for swimming. The place is small but super open and was the perfect size for two people.

A few things to note to help you plan ahead:
- water had a pretty strong sulphur smell/taste so we chose to buy water for drinking
- there's not a microwave (but plenty of pots/pans for using the oven/range)
- bathroom walls go about 98% of the way to the ceiling so not completely sound/smell proof
- no dishwasher

it's a beautiful cabin! We had breakfast by the lake.

It was very peaceful

The cabin is rustic and romantic at the same time, the scenes out of the windows is great. The beach area is great for watching sunsets. Vineyard right up the street for daily wine tastings. Wont want to leave.

We enjoyed every bit of our stay. Cottage was awesome! Recommend a filter on the shower head though. Water smells of sulfur, because it comes from a well, but if you can get past that, the property is fantastic!
Stanley G. Aug 2019
Loved the location and the lake! It was quiet and beautiful!

The location of this property is amazing. In the mornings and evenings we were on the beach enjoying the water. The afternoons we were cooling off in the bunkhouse.
The bunkhouse is a very rustic, original looking bunkhouse. Nothing fancy, but everything you need, to be comfortable. No microwave, but there is a kuerig coffee maker.
My husband and son fished daily and caught big mouth bass and catfish right off the shore !
It’s definitely only big enough for two, or a third on the couch. There is no separate bedroom, it’s one big room, with a separate huge kitchen.
We would definitely come back for the amazing location on the lake.

Chose the Ranger's Cowboy cabin for its beach, fishing and nature! Loved the peace and quiet with beautiful Lake Buchanan right out the front door.

Beautiful area and the cabin was done just right. Very cozy and comfortable. Nice beach where you can actually enjoy the lake. We had a great time.
Wade C. Aug 2018
It was our 29th wedding anniversary. Beautiful view of the lake. House took us back in time and was comfortable like an old shirt that you love. Taste of the hill country scenary around you and a beautiful beach below. And a cool 100 degrees that was aided by the cool water of the lake and a nice breeze. Love our Texas.
GARY T. Aug 2018
Wow. Better than we expected. The owners of this cabin made sure you had everything you needed. Such a peaceful place to sit outside under the trees, or a short walk to lakeside. If you prefer to stay inside it was comfortable, games to play, TV or internet - it was all there. Can't wait to return!

Woke up to deer in the yard and waves on the water. Beautiful and relaxing. The cabin has everything you need for a great stay and we really enjoyed it. We'll be back.

This is a great spot for a couple to retreat to for a long weekend! Boat dock and beach easily accessible on the property. Huge oak trees and a lot of history! Highly recommend!

My husband and I got away for a quick two-night trip for my birthday and this was the perfect spot. It stormed the evening we arrived but then the rain stopped and we sat on the porch watching the lightning flash across the sky over Lake Buchanan. We hiked around Inks Lake the next day, went swimming and my husband fished a few different spots on the property. We tried to have a couple of kayaks delivered to the beach, but the rental shop wasn't officially open for the summer. Next time we'll book at the beginning of June. : )

The pictures don’t do it justice. Beautiful , private location. We had everything we needed. Great location to tour wineries, spend time at state parks, sightseeing, etc. we also brought our kayaks and so nice to be able to just get on water from your own private beach. Lots of wildlife also. Really can’t say enough. We will be back!
