Location, amenities, everything was perfect.

We loved our stay in Girdwood! My husband actually wished we would’ve stayed here our whole 10 day trip (we split it between 2 parts of Alaska to see more). This cabin is the perfect spot. All the basics you need when away from home, plus the bonus of the sauna and hot tub where awesome. We had a slight issue with the hot tub the first night and Vacasa was very quick to respond to my message about it, came out and fixed it the next day, and refunded a little for the trouble. Great customer service. King bed upstairs in the master is a nice touch. Comfy beds. Still a semi private spot with being in town. Really enjoyed exploring the area, it was beautiful in fall!!

Some of the past reviews made me nervous, but upon arrival, I fell in love. Sure, there are some cracks in the kitchen tiles. And sure, one of the chairs doesn’t recline. But in staying here, you’re not getting a luxurious 5-star hotel experience. You’re staying in a HOME. Homes are lived in. It seems a lot of the past guests have had unrealistic expectations.

Everything was wonderful and we loved using the hot tub and sauna!

Would love to stay here again!
John M. Mar 2022
Cabin was very clean and functional-- just nothing fancy. Building has settled over the years leaving some cracked drywall and uneven floors. Kitchen floor had many cracked tiles. Beds are super comfortable with great mattresses- the rest of the furniture was ok. One recliner doesn't recline and the other is hard to close, but they are comfortable enough.

Basically, just know that you are getting a dated but clean and functional cabin in a great location. Hot tub was wonderful.
Manager response:
Hi John. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We will be sure to pass your suggestions along to our local manager who will work with our homeowner to make necessary upgrades. We look forward to hosting you again.

The house was super cozy. We loved the hot tub and sauna. Comfy beds. Great location ~ easy access to the mountain.

This chalet is perfect for families with children and pets.

My family loved the place, by the end of the week it almost felt like home. Hot tub worked well. Overall it was a very warm cozy feeling and the neighborhood is amazing just walk around taking in the views. Just amazing
Meda S. Sep 2021
The sauna and hot tub were the main attractions for us to stay here. The ease of check in and communication was very good! We had a great weekend.
Joseph S. Sep 2021
The location was great. close to the things we wanted to see. The house was clean and had all the things we wanted, but needs a lot of TLC both inside and outside. Kitchen table was to big and needed new chairs.
Kasey P. Aug 2021
This home is in major need of a makeover. We left a day early because we were not comfortable. Smells and feels dirty, holes in bedspread, broken floor tile, aged carpet and stained furniture that needs to be replaced. Staircase banister is not safe. Kitchen cabinets haven’t been wiped down in a very long time. Spiders and webs, the most basic kitchen utensils and few of them. The owners needs to not rent it and update it. It has potential.
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We strive for a standard of excellence in ensuring the home is clean and accommodating for our guests. If there are any concerns or areas in need of additional attention during your stay, we hope to be notified so we can make sure any issues are addressed. We hope to have a chance to host you next time. Thank you.

Over all the house was great for the price. The price was similar to a hotel but we have 10x the space, a kitchen, a close in parking spot, and a kitchen as well like to cook breakfast. The house could stand to have some repairs eg the couch is broken on one end and one stove burner didnt work. Over all good stay.
Gary M. Jul 2021
The home itself is spacious and works great for two couples, a potentially reasonable kitchen, generous  showers, good washer and dryer, quiet neighborhood, decent wi-fi.  However, WE WOULD ADVISE AGAINST STAYING THERE. The place clearly suffers from neglect, inside and out, and an accumulation of annoyances and safety issues was a major downside. Which is sad, because things didn’t have to be this way. Upon arrival, two piles of doggie doodoo between our vehicle and the front steps. Nothing other than wild plants grown up all around right up to the house and decks, almost looking abandoned. The house unpleasantly smelled of dog. Two sharp chips of glass (one brown, one clear) were found in the main floor carpet during our stay. Only a couple of the stovetop burners worked. One of the burners only worked on High no matter the control knob setting and at one point there was a major electrical spark behind that knob when one of the other guests turNed it). The exterior microwave light was dead. There was no sponge/scrubber/rag with which to wash dishes and scrub pots and pans. There was no dish drainer. There was one meager tiny bottle of dish soap. The sink faucet sits so low that rinsing large pots and pans is extremely awkward. There were no large cooking spoons. There only three coffee/tea mugs for the four of us. Some windows and a sliding door were missing screens, some installed screens were warped. In one of the bathrooms the lift rod handle (for opening/closing the sink drain) came right off the lift rod. Some of the exterior wood window trim was rotting away. There were no exterior chairs for the deck. A piece of wood trim for the hot tub was sitting loose, another was simply missing. The living area should have another comfortable chair to sit in (there’s room for an additional one) which would have given all four of us good seating to relax in, as opposed to one of us having to sit in the middle of the sofa or use a kitchen chair. The morning we left it was chilly enough to turn on the propane (we assume) iron stove in the living room area, after which a ca rbon monoxide detector went off. We don't know whether CO was actual building up or the alarm was faulty. We reported that issue and the kitchen stove problems to Vacasa the morning we left.

Manager response:
Hello Gary, we are disappointed that the issues you experienced wee not reported to us during your stay as our local team would have been more than happy to assist you in resolving the,. The stove and fireplace both were checked out by a maintenance member and found to be working correctly. The CO2 monitor was replaced with a new one just in case the old one was faulty. The cups have been replaced . The hot tub has been serviced and loose items fixed or replaced. The screen door has been removed and we await the owners decision for replacement or repair. We hope to host you again for the chance at a Great VACASA Stay!
Jenny L. Jul 2021
This property, as depicted in the pictures, was probably once a beautiful home. However, it is very worn, run down, and not what we were expecting. There were barely any usable cups; we ended up purchasing disposable cups at the store. The jacuzzi was dirty and slimy. The downstairs carpet smelled awful, and the over all feeling was just run down.

That said, the sauna was nice and the two beds were comfortable. There was only 1 pillow provided each for the pull out couch and upstairs futon (which is just a mattress on the floor).

There were multiple signs on the property and in the communication received about quiet hours and devices in the property that measure sound decibels which was off-putting to our group.
Manager response:
Hello Jenny,We sincerely apologize for the cleanliness concerns you encountered during your stay with us. Our team of housekeepers takes pride in their cleanliness standards, as it is a top priority service we provide for every guest prior to check-in. We are disappointed to see that this concern was not reported to us during your stay as we would have been happy to assist. We have passed your feedback along to our housekeeping staff so they are aware of your concerns. We hope to have the opportunity to impress you in the future!
Kevin K. May 2021
The house as described by others could use some upgrades - the carpet, furniture, windows are old. The house and hot tub were clean. Awesome location and overall a good house! The quiet hours are very strict. We received a phone call right at 10pm telling us we were too loud so we got out of the hot tub and went inside.
Karla V. Apr 2021
This place was one of the cleanest and most equipped we have stayed at in Girdwood. The sauna and hot tub were very spacious for our group.

On the first day, the hot tub was great after our skiing session, but on the second we had some trouble getting it hot since somehow it turned off overnight. Part of it was the hot tub's control panel display is not functional so we had to guess if the buttons we were pressing were the correct ones.

Be aware of the neighboring dogs coming up to the deck and pooping on the driveway, as you may be responsible for their clean-up or risk slipping on it or being told you didn't clean up after your own pets.

One last note, the quiet hours are absolutely not optional. We were talking loudly (no music) past 10 p.m. and we almost had the authorities called on us.
Manager response:
Hi, Karla! We are so glad to hear you found the home well-cleaned as we do take cleanliness very seriously in the best of times. We are replacing the display feature on the hot tub so guests can better utilize that amenity. Girdwood is known for the number of off-leash, friendly dogs that roam neighborhoods. Due to this, we would not charge for our guests for any pet droppings as we know there are many wandering dogs. Thank you!
David G. Mar 2021
The place is comfortable and homey. You can tell its had a lot of use, but its clean and perfect for a weekend getaway.
Close to all the local hotspots and the hotub and sauna were relaxing after a day in the cold.
Arika B. Mar 2021
We really enjoyed our stay here! It was close to where we wanted to be and had all the amenities you could need. Sauna was nice! Kitchen was stocked with utensils and plenty of plates for cooking there. This was is in a quiet neighborhood area.

The downside: The hot tub had a hair tie in it (ew) and was very cloudy and very badly needed a cleaning. I turned one of the jets one and some grey stuff came out of the jets.

Aside of the hot tub, we would definitely stay here again.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Arika. We are glad you enjoyed this ski chalet but we're sorry to hear about the condition of the hot tub. We encourage you to call us next time so that we can make every effort to improve your stay. We are happy to report that the hot tub has been routinely serviced and deep cleaned, and we hope to host you again in the near future!
Kim H. Feb 2021
Other than the hot tub needing a cleaning treatment, the place was clean and perfect location! We will definitely stay again!
Molly M. Feb 2021
This house is amazing! It is very simple, but perfect for a ski trip. the hot tub was a wonderful treat. I would highly suggest staying here. We dreamed about owning this place one day we loved it so much!

Luxury stay. Would do again.
Jeremie V. Dec 2020
We stayed here for 4 nights in the winter and had a great trip with no complaints. The kitchen was better-equipped than we were expecting, based on other reviews. Beds were comfortable and everyone slept well. The extra entry and storage space were nice for the myriad of coats and boots and ski equipment that come along with a ski vacation. Santa even figured out how to get in the sliding door.

Despite reading conflicting reviews about the hot tub, it worked great for us (though the screen readout didn't work - we still could figure out what the buttons each did, and they worked fine). What fun to sit in the steaming hot tub as snow fell on our heads! The sauna was also great way to relax after burning out our legs on the ski runs.

The cabin was big enough for our family of 5 to not be on top of each other, but also cozy enough that we felt close. There was no cable TV, but the internet worked fine and we were able to log in to streaming services on the smart TV.

We've stayed in a number of rental cabins and vacation homes over the years, and most have not had a washer/dryer. Usually we don't mind because we don't accumulate enough laundry over 3-5 days for it to matter. But this house had a washer/dryer and we were surprised at how much of a difference it made to keep towels clean, dry off wet ski gear, and head home with fresh laundry in our suitcases instead of a mess. This was a very nice touch and we really appreciated it.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks for providing a warm, comfortable space for our family to reconnect after a long military deployment.

This delightful chalet manages to feel both spacious and cozy, with its high-beamed great room, open-floor plan on the ground floor, and its generous master bedroom. It delivered a sense of seclusion while also providing convenient proximity to town. We loved the hot tub and sauna, and found the kitchen adequately stocked for basic cooking. This quiet neighborhood was good for snowy walks.
Genna V. Oct 2020
My family loved staying here. The hot tub and sauna were issued frequently. The only two issues we had were that there’s not a whole lot of kitchen supplies, and there wasn’t any instructions on how to operate the fireplace. We were able to figure it out though. Highly recommend, the view is amazing and the beads are very comfortable.
Manager response:
Thank you for providing your valuable feedback. We are sorry for any issues you encountered during your stay. Local staff are always available to assist if there are amenities in the home that fall short. We hope to have a chance to host you next time. Thank you.
Robert S. Sep 2020
It was cozy and quiet. It was nice to getaway from all the hustle and noises of the city. The furniture wasn't very comfortable but we had a great trip.

It was a beautiful place to stay. View and close to lots of activities
Constance Joy J. Aug 2020
Loved the gas fireplace/stove and hot tub. Small living area but acceptable for 2-3 people. Exterior needs some TLC.
Brian C. Jul 2020
The home was great, but the booking was fairly infuriating. When I found out that I had to change my dates, I called their booking number and got a message that said hold times could be longer than 90 minutes. I left a message and no one called back. I finally did the 90-minute hold thing and it took about that long for someone to finally pick up. They made me work way too hard to make changes to my booking.

Two and a half days after we arrived we found a very serious safety issue. I was able to correct it myself before anyone was harmed, but I wanted to let the owners or the managers know because it was such a serious issue. I left a message on Sunday and they didn't call me back. I called back on Tuesday and to make a long story short, had to hunt them down again just to discuss something of great importance.

Kelly's Chalet was a great stay for us. Beautiful home and wonderful neighborhood. Convenient to everything we wanted to do for an Alaskan vacation. I would have given it five stars except that they could spend a couple hundred bucks and make things much nicer inside and out. The deck needed some minor repairs. Nothing unsafe just very unsightly pieces of wood coming apart. Hot tub panels were falling off. Again, another easy correction that was unsightly but no problem. The glassware in the kitchen really needs to be totally replaced. A trip to the thrift store would be a huge upgrade for that issue.

That being said, it's a great house in a great area and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. In the end their customer service did take good care of us, although it was a little frustrating getting to that point. Property managers, don't make your guests work so hard.
Manager response:
Hi, Brian! We appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your stay at Kelly's Chalet. We do apologize for the wait times due to an unusually busy summer; we are doing our best to assist each and every guest that reaches out. We are correcting the maintenance issues you found and have added more glassware to the kitchen. Thank you!

Size, feeling, clean
robert B. Jun 2020
place was clean and cozy. the hot tub and sauna were nice ammenities. The dial on the sauna no longer work so that needs to be fixed . Also, the the one filter was broken on hot tub(just laying on ground) and instructions on operating the hot would be nice, so you are not just pushing buttons. Also, some of the windows do not have screens, so when the place go t hot, very hot, mosquitos came in from open windows and bit me. Also, The cieling fan was extremely loud. But, we did enjoy our stay.
John C. Jun 2020
Home is close to resort and town while still being a bit secluded. Home could use some updating, but has everything a small family would need for a short to long stay. Would stay here again.
Torin S. Jun 2020
The hot tub and the sauna really made this place a lovely visit.
Caitlin K. Jun 2020
The location was really close to town and hiking trails. We also really enjoyed the privacy, hot tub, and sauna. Definitely would recommend!
Kenneth D. Mar 2020
Great location, nice and roomy for the 2 of us.
WOuld stay again.
Ivan C. Jan 2020
Nice to have a place that allows pets. The bedrooms, bathrooms, and sauna were nice. Small living room area with only a couch and one recliner. Hot tub wasn't working and smelled a little funky. We fixed it, but doesn't maintain heat very well. Would be nice if the grill was propane.
Manager response:
Hi, Ivan! Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We're pleased to report that our property manager has addressed the issue with the hot tub and we will be keeping a close eye on it going forward. We hope to host you again soon!
Mary V. Jun 2019
The location was perfect. Heavily wooded, quiet, private with easy access and a mountain view. Alyeska resort, restaurants, Girdwood, and mountain activities within minutes. Nearby were special attractions of the region to visit. Very good beds for a great sleep, plus everything you need for meals "at home".
Thomas S. Jan 2019
We rented this cabin for the weekend. A perfect size for 5 people and a small dog.
