We loved the Hideaway that is nestled on top of the dunes. Beautiful views and amazing wildlife. Had a Bald Eagle outside every day, every morning he would catch his breakfast from the pass. It was an AMAZING TIME spent on this piece of heaven on earth. We will book again and continue to do so. The sunrises were magical and vibrant, worth the effort to get up early to see. If you want to experience the forgotten coast you have come to the right place. Left feeling very relaxed and not wanting to leave. Great communication with VACASA from getting an early check in to making sure we were satisfied with how things were going. A+ and very professional.

Not a bad place, humble but not run down & very secluded. I will say there are quite a lot of stairs that weren't really shown anywhere on the listing, but my wife & I are young & in shape so it wasn't a problem for us. Anyone who couldn't climb those stairs would have been annoyed by that.

Go here. The stairs suck..but You are close enough to a beach entrance you can let your stuff out behind the house and the back stairs are easier. Other than that? It's perfect.. go here . Just don't go when I'm going.

We were looking for a cozy getaway as all of our other plans were ruined by the pandemic. We were pleasantly delighted with our stay. The view was perfect and the house was the perfect size for the 2 of us. We would love to stay here again someday!

Loved the beachfront view and of course Mr. Crabby. We had an enjoyable short stay!

Everything about this place was great. Recent updated master bathroom was very nice, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the living room sofa new. Will definitely be back.

It doesn't get better if you are here for the real world. The view from the across the pass to Sy. Vincent Island could be from 100 years ago. The Hideaway sits on top of the dune and is one bedroom, clean and comfortable.Lots of steps up from the parking area. So not for the infirmed or the lazy. But hey, some people don't mind occasional exercise. Fishing is great. There is a boat landing a few hundred yards away. The beach is right out front. If you want total immersion in the real Florida, it doesn't get better. If you want goofy golf and carnival rides this is not what you're looking for - keep looking.
I would never leave the Hideaway at Indian Pass if I didn't have to.

Clean, quiet, & perfect for my family! ❤️

The house was isolated with a great view. The children loved picking up shells on the beach. However, the is poorly maintained and dirty.
Donna, while we are glad you enjoyed the fantastic view this home offers, we apologize for the cleanliness and maintenance issues you encountered that negatively impacted your stay. We have passed your private feedback to our local manager to address for future guests. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again.

Loved the location, very quiet and peaceful. House was clean and had all we needed. The stairs were a struggle for my husband who has COPD. I was fine but beware if any in group have issues with stairs. We had a fun relaxing time.

The beach view & close to boat ramp
Hi Tom, thank you for staying with us! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the view and location! We appreciate your feedback and hope to host you again.

The 1st thing you need to know is there are serious stairs - 2 flights up from parking area and 2 flight down to beach. Second, it looks just like the pictures. The beach is literally right outside your door. Great deck. Furnishings are cheap but it has everything you need. Prepare to be swarmed with mosquitoes in the parking area.

The absolute quiet, natural world of Halsell's Hideaway was perfect for us as a senior couple who grew up in Florida many years ago. The small human footprint was so appreciated

First, the minuses... This place is a bit worn. Not the end of the world, but... A cigarette smell upon entering the property (which improves as you get inside), and a general mustiness which becomes acceptable over time. Kitchen area wasn’t super clean, but it was tolerable. The pluses? The fantastic view from the back porch, the privacy, and the long, wonderful stretch of beach available mere yards from the back steps. St. Vincent Island is just across the inlet. We watched birds (including a bald eagle), saw porpoises, kayakers...very relaxing. The drive into Port St. Joe isn’t bad, and we’re happy to see it coming back. It was a fun adventure.
We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. All of our properties are smoke-free. We will be sure to address this along with your other comments with the local staff so they can take care of the smell. We look forward to hosting you again soon.

This is a great little vacation home with a beautiful view. Everything went great including the check in process. The home was exceptionally clean and stocked with all the kitchen utensils, pots, etc you will need. The fishing was pretty good right off the beach and a great place to take walks. Not too good for swimming due to the current, but we went to st joe state park which is only anout 15 mins. away. As stated in the description, the stairs are a pretty good climb, but it was good excercise. I would definitely rent this home again.

Very quiet and secluded. If you want away from it all, then this is the place for you. There were times that my husband and I were the only two people one the beach. After about 4pm locals seemed to come fish and such. But all in all we loved the privacy. If you love eating oysters, they got'em. We weren't fans, would have liked to see a better variety of seafood. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this a couple or small family looking to escape!!
