Easy and peaceful. All the amenities you need and felt like no one was there. Will definitely come again

Secluded and beautiful little stay in the Octopus den! We lucked out as I believe we were the only couple renting in the property so it was a very nice stay. Had the jacuzzi to our selves and no noise above us. Recommend captain whidbey for dinner, beautiful little restaurant!

This property is located in a tranquil residential area not far from the charming town of Coupeville. We used this as a base for a week of exploring the island by bike and found the central location worked perfectly for a variety of biking loops, with or without a car*. Coupeville has multiple great options for lunch and dinner but you’ll also find the kitchen reasonably serviceable for self catering and the back garden is a lovely spot for a casual outdoor meal for two. Walkers will also enjoy the short, paved stroll down to the bayside beach below the house. This is a great spot for R&R. *Beware that the steepest hill you’ll find on Whidbey is the one you’ll have to climb up to the main road as you start each day. Makes for a fun finale though!

We loved the hot tub, and the space, the view. Wonderful! Enjoyed the access to the private beach. Theme was adorable. Had a bit of trouble regulating the heat effectively. It was either cold, or way too hot and never figured it out.
The first day we could hear EVERY foot step, cough, baby crying at 5:15am and a kiddo running back and forth above out heads very loudly. The second night there were no guests upstairs and it was HEAVEN. Parking was a bit tricky, but we made it work. Great location. So, it was clean and lovely and would have been 5 stars if not for the noise. Maybe they need to invest in area rugs upstairs? Otherwise, very fun!
Manager response:
Natalie, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in Octopus Beach Den. We apologize the guests above were disturbing but unfortunately, this is something we don't have control of. We appreciate your comments and suggestions that help us provide a more comfortable stay for our guests. We look forward to hosting your next getaway. Thank you!

This place was mostly great! The view is wonderful and there is a private beach a short walk away. The driveway situation is rough… there was fresh gravel but it wasn’t well graded and getting up on your way out was interesting. Also, it is super tight for parking especially if other cars are in the other spots. There are other cottages in the same spot and one was linked by a door to ours. It was left open and unlocked, which was fine until someone started staying in the unit above and accidentally walked into our unit. Additionally, there was no TP in our unit to refill the single roll on the stand. Overall, a really great spot! Amazing hot tub, fun lawn, great location. Would be a great place to rent out the whole space (the other cottages too). Just little details need more attention.

This place has a beautiful view, and we had a deer come hang out in the yard for awhile. Everything was clean. No oven or stove, but there was a toaster oven, electric griddle and electric burners. My only complaint is that check-in isn't until 4:00 (we got there at 3:55 and were told we were early). And then check-out is 10:00 a.m. We have never stayed in a place that had such limited hours.

It had the prettiest view, everything we needed was found in the house, and even better that our little fur friend could come with
The apartment itself was fantastic - cute decorations, super comfy bed, beautiful setting, central location on Whidbey, great for a dog, and clean.
The biggest downside was noise. On two separate occasions that lasted for about a half an hour, Navy fighter jets were flying so low in circles above the house that Russell Wilson could hit them with a football. It was pretty cool, but I was also really thankful my dog wasn't freaked out by the incredible noise like she is with fireworks because she would have been miserable.
Second, the apartment being on the bottom floor means you're at the mercy of how loud the people are above you, and you'll also smell everything they cook! The bedroom is right below their kitchen and let me tell you, you can hear EVERYTHING someone does in that kitchen. One morning, the people above us decided to make breakfast starting at 5:45am. They woke us up even though we had earplugs in. They then proceeded to pace (stomp?) around the kitchen, open drawers, etc. SOLIDLY for the next two and a half hours and we heard it ALL. About an hour later, the entire downstairs apartment smelled like their amazing breakfast casserole or whatever they had made and they were laughing and enjoying their creation - an insult to injury haha! The next morning they waited until 6:30am and only stomped for about 45 minutes, so that was less painful. Also, one evening, our entire apartment started to reek of fish and we realized they were cooking it upstairs. We turned on the loud kitchen fan to get the smell out for a few hours, but it was basically like they we cooking it in our living room.
The parking spot is tricky. The breakfast club didn't fully pull into their spot which made backing out of ours almost impossible (and they were gone when we needed to leave). They kind of crunch a bunch of spots together.
Again, great space if you're a very heavy sleeper and don't mind smelling other peoples' food :)

View was beautiful but beach access requires driving to a nearby road and no signage for it as beach access
Kitchen well supplied
Cozy electric fire once we called the manager to find out how to turn it on - need instructions printed in house on that and how to lock front door
Too much online!!
A little steep to get into for people with mobility issues
It is a basement not a whole house

My dog and I loved this little nook.
GARIMA S. Nov 2020
We loved our overnight stay at this cozy cottage. The only issue was there was no thermostat to adjust the heat and it got pretty warm and dry in the night. The location and amenities otherwise were great!
Manager response:
Hi, Garima! Thank you for reaching out. We are glad this home suited many of your vacation needs! We regret that the home's temperature was not suitable for your party and appreciate this feedback as an area to improve upon in the future. We hope to host you again soon!

Had a lovely 3-day weekend and stayed at Octopus Beach Den. So appreciated how clean and well-kept it was. When booking, it was not clear that I was booking the basement unit. The cabin is broken into different units. A little loud being in the basement unit. But overall, a great stay. Short walk to the nearby beach, and short drives to just about everywhere!

This was a perfect place to get away and bring the dog with you. Fit our family of four (5 with the dog) just fine. We brought our own cot for kid #2 to sleep on, but if you kids sleep well together the futon/sofa works well.

Tons of wildlife around (bunnies, deer, bald eagles and lots of crabs) and the beach that is a short walk away is awesome.

The unit was comfortable and the decor was very cute. Nice selection of teas and other goodies, and there was coffee. The bed was comfy.

It was a great stay with a beautiful view of the beach. They provided everything including Netflix, board games, hot cocoa, popcorn, you name it they had it. It was clean and enough space for 4 guests, I would stay again and refer my friends there anytime when they are in town. Thank you to the hosts. Felt very comfortable and it was nice they had all the provisions.

Everything was perfect from the check in to check out process. Little details made the stay even better. Massive yard and view of water! Comfy bed and quiet surroundings. Will be back for sure!

Let me count the ways: The view was gorgeous. The backyard was perfect to step outside with the dog. The sheltered patio was excellent for sitting outdoors with a blanket to watch the storm. All the essential amenities. Plenty of space. Very comfortable bed. Location close to an off-leash dog park.

This was a perfect hopping off spot for an Every landing hike, dinner in Coupeville and a Deception Pass boat tour. The house had everything you needed (except coffee). Pro tip, you can't use the toaster oven and hot plate at the same time (fuse blew). There was an amazing view and the unexpected air show (jet fighter manuevers) was loud, intense and so fun for our little guy!
