We love this little cottage! It's perfect for two people. It's along a nice, quiet street which helped to give it a peaceful atmosphere. It was very clean as well. We plan to use it again in the future.

This was a nice roomy place to stay. A quick car ride to town, but not close enough to walk to Main street in my opinion.

The description boasted of Cosmo flowers til fall, but we stayed in mid August and saw no flowers at all anywhere on the grounds except for 2 geraniums in pots on the porch. This was very disappointing. Also, the lighting in the place is not that good. Another reviewer mentioned the poor lighting and mirror in the bathroom. I would wholeheartedly agree with that. The antique mirror made it hard to see even if the lighting were excellent, which it is far from. Also, the track lighting in the bedroom had one light burnt out and the other so dim it was useless. Kitchen and dining room were both poorly lit as well.

The kitchen was equipped with what we needed for our short stay, as we didn't cook anything, but the dishes, etc that were in the cupboards seemed very random and not well thought out. Also, the place had no extra blankets to be found anywhere.
This was our first visit to the area and we were disappointed that there was no welcome info, no guest book, really nothing from a local perspective on where to go and what to do. No instruction book in the house at all. This is the first STR we have stayed at that did not have this.
Our biggest issue is the number of emails we received from Vacasa, the booking place. From the time we booked til the time we checked out was one week total. We got no less than 20 emails from Vacasa during that time, most of them unnecessary; things like "do you want to extend your check out time?". What a nuisance!
If we visited the area again, we would not choose to stay here. Although a nice place, there was a lot more they could have and should have done to make it feel more welcoming and comfortable.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us! We are so glad you had a great time! We take guest feedback seriously and have forwarded this information to the local staff so they can review and update the home as needed for future guests. We will be sure to follow up with the appropriate parties regarding your experience. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again soon!

What a great cottage for a relaxing getaway in Fredericksburg. It is close to the main strip of shops and restaurants, the museum and the HEB. The house is charming and has everything you need for a wonderful stay. The patio was perfect for breakfast outdoors and also evening cocktails. Very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

Nice quiet location not far from Main Street. The sunroom a great place in the morning watching the squirrels and even a fox came strolling by. The historic old laundry room by patio is pretty cool also.

Loved the location, the bedding, the ease of access, the outdoor patio and sunroom, the lantana, and the cleanliness. Several lightbulbs were burned out (1 in bedroom track light, 1 in entry way track light, and lamp on right side of bed) which was inconvenient. Would recommend having natural oils mosquito repellent for guests as we were unable to enjoy the patio due to mosquitos. Also, the traffic noise during morning "rush hour" was a bit louder than expected. However, all in all we loved our stay and would return with our mosquito repellant in-hand as we loved the character of the cottage.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review! Housekeeping will change out the lightbulbs. We hope to see you again!

We had a great time at Cosmos Cottage. The 1890 year old freshly restored home has all of the modern conveniences that one would want coupled with a rich history and beautifully restored interior. Many reminders of the past decorate the home as you enjoy the nice linens, old quilts, a picture from the granddaughter of the originally owner, and more. We especially enjoyed the dishes from the 1930s and the wonderful selection of books and magazines. The fireplace makes a cozy little fire and you can buy wood at the grocery store right next door to the cottage. The little porch room off the kitchen that is all windows gives you a wonderful view of the birds each morning while you have your breakfast. We highly recommend.
