The view.

This home is cozy and charming! The home is a bit older, but you can tell that the owner and managers have been working to update some of the key elements in this home and it really helps to bring out the charm of this house! The views are FANTASTIC and the house is just a few short minutes into town and to beaches/hiking trails. Can't wait to come back! Thank You!

Amazing view in a great location. Watched whales go by in late February. We cook almost all of our meals in and found the kitchen to be well furnished although the skillet and frying pans are in need of an update. We didn't use the hot tub, but by the guestbook comments it's a huge asset. The fireplace was wonderful, but wood is not cheap in the hood. The master bed is VERY firm so we ended up in the Murphy bed which was softer and you could hear the ocean waves. BBQ is new and worked great for our oysters that we had on 3 of 4 nights. Surf Market had some really excellent oysters. The washer/dryer were a plus. The wind was howling for the first two days and the wind-chill was brutal. So we spent a lot of time driving around checking the sites and a quick in and out photo op. Be sure to check out Pt Arena lighthouse, Bowling Ball Beach, Pelican Bluff walk. We went kayaking on the Gualala River and it was the most amazing clear emerald green river we have ever kayaked on. We're not zoo people, but the B Bryan Reserve in Pt Arena was well worth the visit and a great cause. I imagine we'll be back.

The place is cozy and private and has a great view but everything is from years ago and no dishwasher, the bathroom sink takes a long time for it to drain and there is no central heating.
Manager response:
We appreciate your review, Davoud. This home just received many updates which include new furniture, cookware, blinds, and a carpet cleaning. The bathroom sinks have been unclogged. Thank you!

This was our second time staying at this home and we really enjoy the location. The furniture has been updated which is nice! I would like to caution people who are looking forward to using the stove as the listing makes it seem as if this is possible. Last year there was plenty of firewood to use but when we arrived this year there were only three logs. When I requested logs, Vacasa's customer service was not great. They emailed saying that they were happy to bring some and hours later sent an email from another account saying they would not bring it and the person communicating with me about bringing the wood just ghosted and stopped responding. Do not expect to cozy up by the fire here unless you bring your own firewood (the place is pretty cold btw). AND fires are now "not allowed May-December" according to a sign on the stove. All in all, we love the location and will come back for that reason alone. Customer service is almost nonexistent so just be prepared with everything you think you may need beforehand.
Manager response:
Hi, Colin! We appreciate you choosing to stay with us and want to apologize for the miscommunication you experienced with our staff. The homeowner is concerned about wildfires and has limited fire use to the rainy season. Firewood is no longer provided. Thank you!

Very clean.
The facilities were good.
Relaxing Stay.
Indoors and outdoors could do little more maintenance.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Sujith. We are glad you enjoyed the view from this home. We regret we don't have more information regarding your areas of concern, as we are always happy to know how we can provide a more pleasant stay for our guests. We hope we have the chance to impress you in the future. Thank you.

View on the cliff was amazing! House was nice and comfortable with a very nice hot tub. But Oh that view and sounds of the ocean. Bath and kitchen needs updating. Would go back again.

My wife and I stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary. The home was awesome but the view from the back deck over the cove and ocean was incredible! We absolutely enjoyed our week staying here and look forward to returning in the future! Thank You so much for sharing your lovely home!

We loved the view!!! Just breathtaking!!

Love Cove House. The view from the deck (and hot tub) is most excellent. The house is a true family home. Lots of things have been here for 20 years. New king size mattress is wonderful. Kitchen equipment- well it works.
Would love an outlet within 20 ft of driveway for overnight electric car charge.

This is a nicely laid-out home with an outstanding view of a beautiful ocean cove. It sits separate from other properties and, even though Highway 1 is nearby, it feels secluded and mostly quiet. It is close to Gualala for food and restaurants. Pt. Arena is within about 15 miles and is worth a visit for sightseeing or hiking.
The kitchen is very functional and moderately well stocked with cooking and eating supplies. The king-size bed is very comfortable.
Two factors to consider when choosing this property, though: 1.) there is no central heat (just a wood stove and a small space heater) so it can get quite cool, especially at night and 2.) the driveway has very limited sight lines to oncoming traffic traveling along Highway 1 at 55mph, requiring great care whenever leaving the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evenings in the hot tub overlooking the cove. The sunsets were glorious. There was plenty of seasoned firewood and we used the wood stove on chilly evenings and were toasty warm.
The house itself suffers from deferred maintenance. The shower head was broken and the water only luke warm. We contacted the rental agency and they were very quick to respond and send out a contractor to replace the shower head and provide plenty of hot water. However, the contractor was unable to fix the bathroom sink that failed to drain properly, so a plumber had to be scheduled after our stay. The general sense of Cove House neglect includes: mold in the shower; deck screen doors that are ripped or repaired with duct tape; several blinds that either don't open or don't close; a dining room chair back that is torn apart; baseboard heaters that are rusting; filthy shelf liners in the pots and pans area; plus a chipped and rusty dish draining rack. There is no dishwasher and guests are supposed to leave clean dishes and utensils. However, the first glass we pulled out of the cupboard had smeared lip prints on the rim. In pre-COVID time, that would just be kind of disgusting, but in a pandemic, that is unsafe. We had to first wash everything we wanted to use for cooking and eating.

Starting with the positives, you can't beat the view - ocean and cove; and the new hot tub is one of the best I've been in. The king bed was reasonably comfortable. But the place has seen better days - and is not being maintained well. The furniture is mostly old and not very comfortable; the deck needs to be replaced, and it's just off the highway, so traffic noise during the day. On balance we enjoyed our stay and t's priced right for the view.

This was our second stay at the property. The house stands on a cliff above a small cove between Gualala and Anchor Bay. The view is spectacular! The house is cozy, quiet, and private. It is the perfect size for two guests and certainly suitable for four. It is well provisioned with all the kitchen equipment you could need. The beds are very comfortable and there are more than ample bed linens and towels. Internet service is good and reliable and the WiFi reaches out onto the deck.

The location is ideal for visiting the many coastal access points from Sea Ranch to the Point Arena Lighthouse near Manchester Beach. The number and variety of restaurants offering take-out food and outdoor dining, the only options available during our stay, was impressive. We are planning to visit again soon.

We loved this house so much. The views were incredible, and we saw so many whales while we were just sitting in the hot tub! What an amazing experience!!

This little gem was perfect in so many ways. The view was amazing. The hot tub so relaxing. We will definitely be staying here again.

We loved the magnificent view!
It was a charming little retreat, cozy and comfortable. It makes a great basE from which to explore the nearby coastal area
Sara A. Jul 2020
The view is all this place has to offer. Which was why I gave 2 stars.
We booked threw vacasa last year and we were very impressed. So this year for our 1st wedding anniversary we started looking for a nice little place on the water. This place looked perfect but the pictures are old.
The smell. It smells like a cheap motel. The beds were not comfortable. We tried both. The pots and pans were yucky and rusted. Utensils in the drawers were dirty. Planks on the deck were loose and the patio furniture was old and uncomfortable.
The main issue was the hot tub. The seling point for us. We were so excited to relax in the hot tub and look out to the ocean. We even requested the hot tub be on upon arrival. The hot tub was on but it was filthy. The sensor said filter error and clean water. I didn't realize I needed to request the water be clean. Especially with all the emails I recieved about vacasa taking extra measures during the pandemic to clean units.
Just overall disappointed. We made the best of it but it was definitely below expectations.
Manager response:
Hi Sara, we are happy to have you visit again. We are very sorry that the hot tub was not cleaned and ready for your arrival. We apologize if the cleanliness of the home left something to be desired, and we will follow-up with our housekeeping team to see that future cleans are completed to our standards. We have also since been able to add more team members and streamline our processes. We would love to be able to impress you in the future.
