This is a great property fronting the Smith River. It is clean, tastefully furnished and has an open floor plan. The deck is quite large and has lots of seating for enjoying the beautiful river views. We felt very lucky to have had deer visitors two evenings while we were there. We are looking forward to our next visit to this lovely property.
We loved everything about this River House. Very close to see Redwoods. Amazing amenities, very clean and comfortable. Hot tub was great after a day of hiking and looking out over the crystal clear river. Was private and quiet. Grill was a nice touch too. Wish we could have stayed longer than two nights.
Had a n amazing time in the redwood watching Smith River. Had some lazy hours floating and playing in the river. Loved it!
Came here to stay while planning my wedding on the river down the road. This place was awesome and beautiful and the hot tub is so relaxing! The only issue we had was that there is no a/c and it geta pretty warm during the summer. All in all, great place for families to stay and I really enjoyed the nature!
Quiet spot on a dead end road. Special treat of otter family enjoying life on/in the Smith River. Amenities make this a “home” where R-n-R is the Mantra. Ideal location to explore Jed Smith; Tolowa Dunes; Brookings, OR and Crescent City.
This home was perfect for our family of 8. However, while it says it sleeps 8, it technically only slept 6 in beds, two of our children had to sleep on the couch and loveseat. The kids had a blast down at the river catching frogs.
Recommendation for the property management company/owners---have a brown on hand for guests to use for easy clean up.
The River House is right above the beautiful Smith River and was a comfortable retreat for a girlfriend getaway. The beds were comfortable, the fireplace was great as was the hottub and six of us had a wonderful visit. We brought prepared meals but the house is well appointed with everything you would need.
Three of us had a great time sewing in the house on the river. We appreciated housekeeping fulfilling our request for an ironing board, and found everything we needed in the house. The hot tub was great and we enjoyed sunshine on the deck watching fishermen on the river. Our only request would be for clearer instructions for using Netflix on the TV (we managed to use it, but were never sure how we got there...)! Also, maybe some house numbers on the house rather than the mailbox. The house was clean and all our questions and requests were promptly taken care of.
Super time- GREAT location/comfortable and user friendly for all--- Truly a land of the Giants and within striking distance to vast activities. Yes we will return!
Beautiful home in a rare, breathtaking location right on our precious Smith River in the giant redwoods. Great amenities, smooth check in. Sitting in the spa overlooking the river will be forever in our memories. Just a bit too early for river flows to allow fishing.
We had a fantastic stay at the Smith river house.
I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone. I have stayed at many vacation homes and this one exceeded my wish list of any I have been to. It had condements and coffee in the kitchen soap and shampoo in the bathroom that was a WOW surprise! Never have had that at a vaca house before. The home is close to everything -15 min drive to Crescent City closer to hiking in the redwoods and 20-30 min drive to Brookings Ore. The response time was very fast and communications were friendly answering all my questions. The home was clean and is large enough for a family or two. We each had our own bedrooms. My bed was super comfy! Plenty of seating in the front room and everything you could want or need in the kitchen. The view of the river was amazing and the hot tub well that was over the top, we stayed in there for an hr visiting one night! It would be even nicer if there was a direct trail from the yard to the river just FYI. Also people should know there are about 6 steps to get into the front door, if you have problems with steps. I will defiantly want to stay here again when I come to Crescent City. Thank you so much for your beautiful fabulous place! Connie Cibart
We had a great time at this property. It was clean, well stocked(could’ve used a cheese grater) Nice view of the river. Not accessible to a wheelchair, the beach, that is. Close enough to the harbor to get out fishing nice and early. We had a great time. Thank you. Shelley
It was further out of the city then we expected, but we had privacy and in a quiet neighborhood, which we enjoyed very much. We had plenty of room for the 4 of which was nice.
Three, Two and One year old's plus an 9 and 11 year old me and my daughter!! We had the best "annual" vacation to date! Very relaxing.. Loved the house and would go back.. Wish they would have provided more trash liners and paper towels for a group with littles and multiple days. Also access to the vacuum would have been super.. We called and they came and supplied one.. Kids and crumbs.. part of life... thanks for the great time...
We had a wonderful time in Crescent City and at the Redwood Coast River House. This was an excellent home base for all of our activities and allowed the kids to be close to the water when we weren't wandering the local sites. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The house was clean upon arrival and well stocked. We were able to come back to the River House every day, cook some of the fish we caught, and relax! Definitely a good spot for families.
House is old and quirky (carpeted bathroom! large wooden kitchen mermaid!) but *extremely* well outfitted. They've obviously put a lot of thought and effort into making sure that guests have what they need to be comfortable and have an enjoyable stay. We really appreciated that there were plenty of towels (we had kids in and out of the hot tub), quidebooks (we used them to find a hiking trail), and both a card table and scrabble (perfect for the adults after kids went to sleep). Also, the view out the back was TO DIE FOR. We couldn't get over how beautiful the area was.
If you've read other reviews, you already know that this is an older manufactured home that hasn't seen an upgrade in about 30 years. Don't let this discourage you from renting. The home is laid out very well and very spacious. Add that to the fact that it is right on the Smith River, with access to the river that will allow you to get your kayaks in the water and you have a win/win situation! The home wasn't as clean as I would have liked it to be...cobwebs and dead bugs on the interior windows, but that was easily remedied with a damp paper towel, some dust on some of the surface areas, and the beds could be vacuumed under. Be aware that the hot water is VERY hot...turn the cold on first and then add the hot, and the railing around the front deck isn't really safe for small blind dogs and small children. We found the beds to be very comfortable, the kitchen well stocked and the hot tub delightful after a day of paddling or hiking. This really is a dream vacation home. We spent 10 days here, exploring the Smith, Redwoods and walking on the beach. Everything is close! One word of encouragement...if you plan to paddle more of the Smith than what's out the back door there are many areas of rapids and fast water. If you're not used to that kind of kayaking, consider going with a guide. All in all, a very restful, fun place to stay!!
We really enjoyed our stay. The only problem was is was not long enough. Great location and accommodations.
Thank you for another fantastic stay. Crescent City is gorgeous with lots of outdoor adventures. The home was cozy and watching the clear smith river from the deck while drinking my coffee was amazing
The Smith River home was very nice, everything was ready for us. I like the ability to move right in and get started on relaxing. The kitchen is well equipped.
This was my second stay in this house. We been coming up here for twenty years for fishing trips. You can’t beat being right on the water. If you are a fisherman. This spot is right above the ruby boat launch. You can easily throw up the international fisherman sign language for “ catch anything? “ from the hot tub on the back deck Plenty of parking. 3 bedrooms and a kitchen full of stuff to cook. Even a vacuum sealer for your catch! Not the most modern of places. But let’s face it your here so you got a place to land in between adventures. We all enjoyed it. Three generations of my family stayed with us. Has internet but no cable. So be tech savvy with your tv and have Netflix or such if you want to watch something. Only thing I would change is I wish it had some type of covered porch or awning. For the smokers or just trying to enjoy the river view outside on a rainy day. I just brought a pop up canopy this time and it resolved they need. It was nice to have a dry spot next to the hot tub to hang your towel and robes when it was raining.
our stay at this vacation rental was amazing. The location was sublimely serene and tranquil. the view of the smith river was spellbinding and the fact that we could soak in the hot tub while enjoying the birds and beavers was just amazing. The house was well equipped with everylittlething we could need...except an umbrella...which we needed quite frequently during our stay. :) My only complaint was that we had to leave. Definitely will return in nicer weather.
Great location. Beautiful views, great wildlife, river was enchanting, close to crescent City and Brookings, lake Earl is amazing! House was nice and fully stocked with everything you could need. Except an umbrella which we wish we would've had.
