The unit shows its considerable age but was clean and serviceable. Note that the laundry is a shared facility in the basement. Small things that could make the unit more comfortable include a second luggage rack, better lighting to allow for reading, and a throw for use in the living room. Note that guest's car will be covered in tree droppings daily - for white vehicles I suggest frequent wipe downs to avoid staining. No fault of the unit - simply a warning to be prepared.

We liked the convenient location to beach, the comfortable bed, size of space, the screen porch, and the beach!!! Kitchen was adequately equipped. Recommend cleaning all of the air vents and dusting the TV areas for spiderwebs and excess dust. I also recommend doing a pest control bug spray for roaches that we did see near hallway and in bathroom.

We enjoyed the quiet location next to the lagoon, and the closeness to the beach. The villa was a good shape however, there was no sheets available for the pull out sofa and no blanket. The staff did bring sheets after we called they next day, but no blanket. It wasn't a big deal and we would definitely stay here again.

The unit was good. Close to the beach and other amenities. Could use a good dusting. The fan in the bedroom was covered in dust didn't want to turn it on. The air vents, baseboards, and living room beams also covered in dust. Coffee table breakfast table countertops were all clean. Just needs a deep clean.

This is the 7th time we've rented in Mariner's Watch. We love the unit layout, size, and location within Kiawah. It's perfect for the just the two of us.
While the unit looks great online, the brightness of the pictures appears to be increased to make the unit look newer/brighter than it really is. Look at the difference of the color of the brown couch in the stills vs the virtual tour.
It looks like parts of the unit have been updated (bathroom, newer washer/dryer, and kitchen appliances). All of the furniture was acceptable and in good shape. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped.
Our top issue with the unit was the visible evidence of mold. My wife smelled it the instant we walked into the unit. You could see it on the HVAC vent in the MBR. When I went to see what might be the cause of that, I found that the HVAC filter hadn't been changed in 8 months (date written on the filter). The property management company did change out the filter for us within the first 24 hours but the unit felt damp the entire week.
We did explore changing units but nothing was available without a big increase in price. The property management company did make a price adjustment for our stay which we appreciated.
I don't think it would take too much to bring this unit back up to Kiawah standards:
1. get the HVAC checked to make sure it's operating properly (and ongoing maintenance).
2. Mitigate the existing mold.
3. Upgrade the TV/AV systems (The TV in the MBR has a built in VHS player and the sound system in the living room/kitchen includes a 5 disk CD player)
We booked this unit directly on the VRBO site and rely heavily on public ratings. I think this unit averaged 4.8 out of 5 when we booked it - though only 2 total reviews since Oct 2018 (I didn't notice that upon booking). This could be a 5 star unit as all the pieces are there. Hopefully our feedback will make it back to the owners and property management company so that future guests will have a great experience.
