Dog-Friendly Cottage in the Heart of Town w/ Deck, Hot Tub & Firepit

With a prime location right in the heart of downtown Telluride, this darling, dog-friendly cottage sits within steps of the free gondola at Telluride Ski Resort, the banks of the San Miguel River, and the bustling restaurants, shops, and events that can be found all along Colorado Avenue.

Built at the turn of the century and thoughtfully modernized since, this cozy cottage is a wonderful spot for an adventure-loving family in any season. As you stroll home from a day of skiing, hiking, or mountain biking, you'll find ample space to leave your gear in the rustic shed - which even offers Adirondack chairs to make removing your boots all the easier.

Inside, the owners have made creative and efficient use of the space, with a triple bunk greeting you as you walk through the front door. The hallway leads into the main living space, where you'll find hardwood floors, a delightfully modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and an inviting living room with a flatscreen TV. You can slide open the glass doors to the deck to take a seat in an Adirondack chair, get the grill going for dinner, take a dip in the private hot tub, or gather with loved ones around the firepit with a view of the mountains. Additional amenities include a washer/dryer, a flatscreen TV in each of the bedrooms, and free WiFi throughout the house.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Telluride, and the house had many good points (including being very well situated to the restaurants and shops of Telluride and close to the free gondola up to the mountain village) but my wife and I were quite surprised when we walked through the front door to discover that we were in a bedroom with only a narrow corridor from the front door to the door into the rest of the house that went alongside a triple-bunk bed of full mattresses (that ostensibly could sleep six people). Then, walking out of that bedroom, you had to be very careful not to hit your head on the circular metal staircase that went up to the upstairs bedroom. The kitchen/dining area was nice enough, with decent appliances, but still small. (The place advertises that it can sleep ten, but with a table that only seats four--and then only if they are skinny enough to slip into the chairs that can't be pulled too far back due to the wall--I can't imagine having that many.) Pleasant sitting area, but again only for four-five people. Bottom line, the place worked quite well for the two of us (and our two dogs) once we learned to avoid banging our heads on the stairwell, but I would not recommend it for more than, say, four people.

The location and hot tub were solid.

The home was nice and recently updated. Everything was very clean and the location in town was excellent. The only negative was the triple bunkbed (full size mattress) when you walk in the front door. It should be replaced by a twin trundle bed. Then there would be room for luggage. The house could sleep six but 4 would be better. There is 1 & 1/2 bathrooms which would be difficult for 6.
