Unplugged Getaway w/ Tree-Lined Views & Private Yoga Studio - Dogs OK
Give yourself and your loved ones a break from the hustle and bustle, while you revel in the peace that surrounds this dog-friendly Durango retreat. Boasting a private detached yoga or meditation studio as well as tree-lined privacy, this the perfect spot to get away from it all.
Set 16 miles from the heart of Durango, and only seven miles from the Vallectito Reservoir, you won't have any problem finding fun things to explore. During the winter we recommend using a 4x4 vehicle to access the home safely.
Vaulted wood-beamed ceilings and a wide-open floor plan let the abundance of light showcase all of the crafted wood accents. Cuddle up with a good book while the you listen to some vinyl tunes on the turntable. The private washer/dryer will take care of any laundry that you may have during your stay.
Step out on the deck with an ice-cold brew and kick back in the Adirondack chairs while you take in the tree-lined views.
While your guests lounge on the bar stools at the breakfast bar, you can get to work on dinner in the fully equipped kitchen. With stainless steel appliances, crafted counters, and a dishwasher to help with the cleanup, keeping everyone fueled up and on the go will be a breeze. After dinner head back out on the deck to watch the stars come out with an indulgent nightcap.
When it's time to turn in, this two-bedroom, one-bathroom home has room for up to four guests and one canine companion under 60 pounds (for a small nightly fee). On the main level you'll find the master bedroom with a queen-size bed waiting to lull you into a restful night of sleep. Upstairs in the large loft bedroom, there is another queen-size bed as well as a small sitting area.
Wake up with the warm sunshine and walk down to the small detached meditation studio to start your day. With the privacy of the forest as your backdrop, your time will be filled with peace and tranquility.
Spend a day exploring the picturesque trails that run through the San Juan National Forest. Then head over to the Vallectito Reservoir to kayak along the shores, or maybe cast a line in the Animas River to take some time to unwind. Treat everyone to a night out at Steamworks Brewery while you dive into a seasonal flight of microbrew suds.
Leave the daily grind of the city behind, and let your batteries recharge as you unplug at this Colorado relaxing getaway.

The view was no doubt worth everything but we cannot pass the fact that when we arrived and settled for our first night, securing the doors, the lock at the back doesn’t work. It’s broken. They sent people to fix the lock the next day but don’t have the parts and said will come back but they never did. I had to sleep in the sofa each night just to make sure we’re safe and no one’s attempting to break in. Throughout the duration of our stay we have to bring most of our important belongings in our truck because the back door is still broken. Other issues we had were the bed comforters/duvet in each room and throw pillows in the living room. They’r dirty and looks like they haven’t been washed in a while. Also, we understand it’s a pet friendly cabin but the place seemed like it hasn’t been vacuumed for pet hair removal in a while. We also found a lot of flies in the bathroom, rooms and living room, and some of them are falling on the floor and is just not good for a family with little ones.
Hi, Larry, thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. While we are glad that you liked the view at the property, we are deeply saddened to know about your experience. Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused by the maintenance and cleanliness issues, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We can confirm that the back door has two locks, and we pasted a sticky note with instructions on how to lock it on the wall. Also, we informed our housekeeping team about the areas that needed immediate attention, and we are sorry for the communication gap that happened. Please know that this is not the standard that we follow, and we will follow up with the appropriate parties regarding your experience to discuss preventative measures and ensure the continued enjoyment and comfort of our future guests. We hope to have the opportunity to better impress you in the future!

Remote but close enough to town. Couldn't beat the view off the deck. The record collection was awesome.

Beautiful cabin in a beautiful location. We enjoyed the views and tranquility. Took a trip to Mesa Verde and visited a natural springs spa. This cabin is clearly someone’s happy place and for a few days it was ours.

The cabin has amazing views! Definitely started off every morning on the deck with a cup of coffee, and ended the day the same but with a glass of wine. It is so quiet and peaceful up here, perfect place to unplug! It was so nice to just throw on some records from their awesome vinyl collection and just play games or have it play in the background while we cooked. My daughter loved the yoga studio as well which was super charming. Overall a great place to stay if you’re looking to get away from the day to day grind and just unplug!!

There is a neighbor close by, but we never heard or saw them. Nice cabin and a great stay for our anniversary trip.

VERY cute and cozy. Amazing book collection. Even more amazing views. And it snowed so we got our own winter wonderland! When you go, definitely read all the info in the folder!! It tells you everything you need to know. The only thing I wish was different was that the light switches were labeled. There were some I still had no idea what they were for. But that's really not a big deal. I was scared about there being no TV or WiFi, but I just ended up spending more time outside and reading inside. It was extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Very well setup when we arrived in the middle of January. Space heaters running until we got a fire going. Spent most of our time listening to the wonderful vinyl collection, and reconnecting by playing games and doing jigsaw puzzles. The view is amazing . Just make certain you bring a 4wd if you come up in the winter.

The cabin is old but wonderful and the drop dead view is worth the drive up the mountain

Wow! This cabin is absolutely incredible, we absolutely loved resting here and enjoying your space. Definitely not a terrible drive to Durango, but really didn’t want to go due to the beauty of this cabin.
Misty S.Jul 2021
Located on a secluded road outside of Durango, this cabin allows you to enjoy nature. No TV or WiFi, so you will want to read or play games for entertainment.
Nick B.Jul 2021
What a wonderful location. We were very much able to relax and enjoy being off the grid. Would definitely stay here again. Don't book this place if you expect the seperate yoga space to be amazing. It clearly hasn't been used or cleaned in a long time, and is very small and waaay to hot in summer, with dead hornets. Instead, just do yoga on the INCREDIBLE deck.
Nick, thank you so much for your feedback. We are very sorry you weren't able to use the yoga space. It is always our goal for our guests to be able to use everything we have to offer. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay nonetheless. We look forward to hosting you again soon!

My family and I enjoyed a nice vacation. Something to tell guests is that you'll be staying at approximately 8200 feet. If you're a flatlander, you may want to not plan anything for the first couple of days just so you can adjust to the altitude. So fun, so relaxing, and so many stars! I loved just staring up with them at night before I would turn in. Board games were provided and it was a great way to reconnect with the family without screens.

Although it was short stay it was nice. Just a suggestion have a lighter for the fireplace, I left one. Lol. Thank you again.

I needed an escape from a hectic business life and this was perfect. The views from the deck were ever changing and beautiful. The cabin is simple and a bit quirky and not for anyone seeking luxury.
Ryan G.Apr 2021
Place was very clean and great view from the deck.
Brande B.Dec 2020
Great spot to get away and relax! The views are incredible and the cabin is super cute and had everything we needed. Would definitely return!
Joshua C.Oct 2020
This place was perfect with everything from the inside out. From the vinyl records to the amazing view out on the deck where I asked my now fiancé to marry me. It was the perfect place and we will be back for sure!
Joslyne L.Oct 2020
The deck was amazing and the views throughout the day never disappointed. We loved playing records and having time away from TV and internet while we stayed at the cabin.
Deborah I.Sep 2020
Cabin was nice and the view was awesome! The only thing negative I can say is the bed was super hard. If there were at least a foam topper on them - then they would be fine.
Deborah, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay in the cabin. Beds firmness is a rather personal preference, we strive to strike a happen medium with the beds but sometimes it just doesn't suit a guest's preference. We really appreciate your comments on how to improve the service. We look forward to hosting you again. Thank you!

Most of trip was great, unfortunately, lost water for two days. Biggest issue is why don't you mandate your properties not having a simple first aid kit. Also, the property needs a rail down the stairs, unless you think all the quests are young.
Biggest issue was no water for two days, fix th issues I addressed and a great visit.
Klinton R.Aug 2020
The cabin was in great shape and the view is exactly as shown on the picture.

Everything was perfect and some amazing memories made!

ENJOYED OUT STAY!!!
Jack S.Sep 2019
When you imagine the type of cabin you would love to stay in, this place is it! I would definitely stay again!
Chuck H.Jul 2019
Magnificent views, birds, quiet, small critters - very comfortable accommodations, music (33 1/3rd and 45 rpm vinyls), classic literature, coffee table books, and tourist guidebooks.
My first road trip to Colorado was in 1950, and I’ve stayed in many cabins and motels in the 70 years since — and I’ll definitely return to Cabin Tranquilo if it is available (and if I remain ambulatory!).
Philip M.May 2019
First off, ignore the poor reviews, these are from the city slickers that can’t even read simple instructions given to them in the cabin binder. We loved this cabin, during our 4 night stay we were able to experience snowfall every night. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the wonderful view from the balcony until our final morning but, the fireplace, records, hot coffee, and the snow made up for it. Wife was not happy about the cabin being cold(55-60 degrees, it was 30 outside) but there were plenty of space heaters and after an hour with the fireplace the cabin was nice and comfortable. We highly recommend this cabin if you want to get away from the city, busy streets, and loud tourists. We will be returning as soon as we can.

Secluded. Peaceful. Lovely.
Luis B.Apr 2019
My wife and i loved this cabin very much. Spectacular views, tranquil and a feel of relaxation like no other. The cabin has everything you need in a house and its very cozy. We would definitely go back for another weekend. It's truly an amazing Cabin.
Richard C.Apr 2019
Beautiful cabin, well kept and had everything I needed. Nice to get away from the TV set. Little seasonal creek was running, making a soothing sound.
Austin H.Apr 2019
Loved the view!
Steven L.Oct 2018
The cabin had everything we needed. We went in October and the heat was limited to 63 degrees which was cold. If we were told how to crank up the wood stove to provide better heat then it would have been better. We figured it out on day 2.
Terri M.Oct 2018
The cabin was really nice. Sitting out on the deck was so peaceful.
Larry T.Jun 2018
One of the best porch views you’re likely to find, in a cabin still close enough to town to be convenient. This place was perfect for us.
Kennedy F.Nov 2017
Lovely home, great views, proximate to Vallecito Lake Trail.
Kristyn L.Jul 2017
Property is pretty much as described. Quite, and clean.
Annalissa A.May 2017
This home was an amazing getaway with beautiful views!
Thomas C.May 2017
Beautiful scenery! Quiet and relaxing atmosphere! Enjoyed being unconnected via internet and television but phone service available. Second day before we realized there is no clock!
William P.May 2017
This cabin is well maintained, nicely furnished with simple comfortable furniture and accessories that are lovely native inspired theme. It's a perfect mountain retreat that you won't want to leave ! The views are lovely. There is no TV or Internet but it has a lot of nice personal touches the owner has shared with visitors like an extensive record collection, interesting books, well stocked kitchen with spices and yummy coffee and other things to add to your meals ! There is a nice deck to relax on and a charming meditation room ! We definitely enjoyed our week there and plan to return when we can.
Mara K.Mar 2017
We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful mountain home. Thanks so much for the opportunity to stay here with beautiful mountain views and no wifi or TV. We loved the record collection and the wonderful deck!

Nice remote cabin in the woods. Almost no one around this time of year. Cozy and comfortable place. It does require 4 wheel drive and decent clearance to get to this time of year.
