Historic but completely updated and dog-friendly farmhouse - close to wineries!

Become part of the rich history of this four-bedroom Fredericksburg farmhouse, a spacious, century-old home with front and back porches for gatherings of family and friends in the heart of the Texas Wine Country.

Built in 1910 and farmed by the same family for three generations, this house sits on a two-acre plot surrounded by 38 acres overlooking the iconic Texas Hill Country Hilltop. You'll be within minutes of Grape Creek Vineyards and other popular winemakers on the Highway 290 Wine Trail, and just seven miles from the heart of downtown Fredericksburg.

Designated by the state of Texas as a Family Land Heritage Site, this two-level home has a long, storied history of hospitality. As a former boarding house in the 1920s, it has since been entirely updated - offering large rooms, an abundance of sunlight, and 3,000 square feet of living space for family get-togethers, getaways with special friends, and business or church retreats.

Step inside to find two living areas with beautiful hardwood floors, vintage furnishings, and air conditioning to keep you cool in the summer. Come home from a day of wine-tasting to recline on the wicker sofa with a good book, set up a puzzle or a game of dominoes at the table, and use the CD stereo system to create a relaxing vacation soundtrack. And stay in touch with folks back home with the free WiFi and enjoy the TV, which comes with DVD/VHS players.

The kitchen is modern and elegant, offering pristine white cabinets and stainless steel appliances that include a gas range and a dishwasher. Read the morning paper in the sun-filled breakfast room or catch up with your loved ones around the table in the formal dining room.

Over the years, this home was known for its vibrant dairy operation, its prize-winning chickens, and its verdant gardens, and there's no better place to survey the landscape than from one of the porches. Watch the sunset from a seat on the swing or one of the rocking chairs, light the charcoal grill for an evening barbecue, or set up the folding table for a friendly game of poker.

With four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, White Dairy Guesthouse can accommodate as many as 10 guests, and up to two dogs are also welcome for an additional nightly pet fee. You'll find one bedroom with a king-size bed, two bedrooms with a queen-size bed apiece, and one bedroom with a double bed that connects to the “sunrise porch” and offers a pair of twin beds. There's even a private laundry room to refresh your wardrobe after long walks through downtown Fredericksburg.

Your children will likely want to follow the model of the 1920s and gather their sleeping bags on the large enclosed porch. Without the distractions of TV, they'll spend hours reconnecting and telling stories until dawn.

Thanks to its fascinating history and wonderful location just outside downtown Fredericksburg, White Dairy Guesthouse will give you an authentic glimpse of life in Texas Hill Country. Immerse yourself in your surroundings as you spend your days tasting the wonderful wines at Messina Hof, Grape Creek Vineyards, and 4.0 Cellars, all of which are less than four miles east.

Head into downtown Fredericksburg to see more than 80 points of interest in the National Historic District, or pick up some local produce at the seasonal farmers market. Luckenbach Texas' funky post office, general store, and iconic country dance hall are located just six miles south. And you'll be just 10 miles west of Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, the place where the 36th president was born, lived, and is now buried.

Come and add your family's story to this beautiful Texas farmhouse - book your stay at this Fredericksburg home today!

Beautiful old farmhouse! House was very clean and spacious. We had 3 couples staying, but there was plenty more room for additional people/kids. No central a/c (listed as "partial"), but the wall units kept us comfortably cool in the summer heat. Very near Hwy 290 and the fast cars, but only minimal road noise. The windmill was a very good landmark to help us find the house back daily - and close to lots of wineries - away from downtown crowds.

We loved how much space their was in the home for our families! The little boys loved playing outside and looking at the cows.

The house was wonderful. The layout allowed for together time and solo time. The backyard was excellent and provided a great backdrop for family fun.

This house was perfect for our Girls Weekend! Loads of space, beds are so comfortable and a beautiful kitchen that has anything you need. It was such a pleasure to wake up to the breeze blowing through the open windows and watching the cows. Totally loved that the weather was so nice to be able to sleep on the enclosed porch. We will definitely book this place again.

10 of us stayed in this house and it was perfect. The house is very spacious and we never felt crowded at all. It is up to date, perfect location between the wineries and Fredericksburg and no neighbors so it’s quiet. I highly recommend this place.

The location was great and the house was very roomy the only negative was no TV. Would have liked to catch up on news and weather
Linda G. Sep 2018
The house is in great shape and we loved the history of it. We also loved watching the cows out the kitchen window! Even though it is on the highway, there was really only road noise on the front porch - on the back porch or when we were inside the house, we didn't notice it at all! The kitchen was well stocked regarding cookware, etc. It is convenient to all the Fredericksburg attractions! We will definitely plan to go back!

The house was beautiful! Big, roomy, my guests loved all the rooms and history of the house. Location was perfect, minutes from town, wineries, and Luckenbach!

We loved the charm of the vintage furniture. The grandkids loved the size of the house, great place for hide and seek. Plenty of space for everyone to have privacy if needed and open enough to share meals and play games. The porches were to die for, nice breeze, fenced in yards for security and safety. Would recommend this home to anyone!

Had our family of 8 for an anniversary celebration and the home worked beautifully for both sleeping and visiting.
Much more than you would expect was furnished in the kitchen and for pets; We will go back, if at all possible.

The location is ideal for easy access to wineries, and it is not far from the main part of downtown Fredericksburg. The property has a country feel, but is is not far from the action The house was very clean and ready for us when we got there. It is the perfect choice for large groups..
Libin Z. Apr 2018
Owner does provide night light to improve visibility at dark. It would be perfect if enter and exit from hwy 290 can be easier.

Loved the house and t he accommodations

Our group of friends went to Fredericksburg for a bike riding camp. We only use the house to sleep. The house was very clean and well-maintained even though it’s an almost 100-year-old house. We never cooked, or Had any meals at the house. We only slept and showered. However, the kitchen is fully stocked with all of the cooking utensils., silverware, and dinnerware needed. The house is 5 miles from Fredericksburg, but it didn’t make a difference to us. The water was a little soft so it might require a little bit more rinsing the soap off, but that’s because I’m picky. Overall, I’d say that this was a great place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone Who wants to stay with a large group of friends.

We had a great Christmas at the house,It's clean and comfortable. We'll be back in the future.
Robin E. Nov 2017
The home was very nice but could use better marking for a very dangerous entry to the property. Would recommend the place as it accommodates larger groups and is close to spots of interest.
Joanne T. Nov 2017
Enjoyed our stay. Loved hanging out in the backyard, the weather was great, nice breeze and very relaxing.
Claudia P. Oct 2017
This weekend getaway exceeded our expectations!!! The house was very clean and well organized. We loved the way it was decorated as well. We will definetly be back !!!
Rebecca R. Oct 2017
The house is close to a lot of wineries which is perfect. It’s also 10 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. The only negative is there’s not any blinds or curtains so most areas of the house are left exposed to sunlight which is a negative if you need to change in that room or sleep in.
Manager response:
We are glad to see this guest was mostly happy with this home. There is only one bedroom that does not have curtains, and the home is secluded on over 30 acres of farmland, but we will suggest to the owners they place curtains in that bedroom. Thanks!

We loved our family celebration here. The kitchen was well supplied and bedrooms were comfortable. We loved the back porch

We had 9 women of all ages staying in this home for a little girls weekend. Upon arrival we were wowed with the house. Absolutely stunning! The front porch is massive and so relaxing. Perfect for a cup of joe in the morning. Inside there is so many seating areas and places sltonsot and talk. There are no tvs and the wifi connection is hardly there but that's the way we like it. No technology needed when you're enjoying each others company. There is no central air and each room has its own individual unit which cooled the house extremely well; however, upon arrival all the units were off. It was extremely hot and the house did take time to cool. At night we hung out on the back porch. Perfect for a wine nightcap and great conversation. We loved how close the cows were and the sound of the metal windmill. Felt like a country getaway. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

Great home. Overall experience was wonderful. Enjoyed front and back outside sitting areas. Will definitely book again in the future.
Hailey H. May 2017
The house was great & very accommodating for our large group. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, nice bedrooms as well. I would note there are no televisions in the house, this came as a shock to some of the men in our group. The owners supplied games & cards as great entertainment and we also took some of our own favorites. The biggest downfall to me was that it is directly off of the highway which felt a bit unsafe at times upon leaving & returning to the house. It is also a good ways outside of town- but not too far from most of the wineries!
Krystal S. Apr 2017
Amazing house! Perfect for a relaxing weekend out of town. Fully stocked kitchen was very convenient. The card and board games were also a nice touch. Plenty of sitting areas inside and out. Extremely clean house and very nice linens provided made the staff more comfortable.
The wildflower farm close by is beautiful and I highly recommend Fiesta Winery which is also very close. Loved our trip!

A group of us (8) have been staying in various places in the hill country and on the coast for years--this has been the most beautiful home by far. There is plenty of room, it is very clean and well suited. The only downside is the location so close to the highway--be careful leaving and entering the property. I think it is a wonderful place for a family retreat.
Debbi G. Feb 2017
Very nice and lived the country setting.
