Experience the tropical paradise of the Placencia Peninsula with oceanfront views, a fishing dock, tons of nearby water sports, an outdoor shower, and exciting island amenities at this three-bedroom, one-bathroom vacation home. Boasting space for up to six guests, it's perfect for a fun family getaway!

Conveniently located just two-and-a-half miles from popular Maya Beach and 11 miles from Placencia Village, where you can shop for essentials and unique souvenirs, this home is also near public beaches, a variety of restaurants, and food markets. Next door lies Placencia Resort with a restaurant, a huge pool, a casino, and beach access. And you'll have access to a lovely garden with a variety of tropical vegetation, as well as an inviting hammock.

Every step of the construction of this home was painstakingly organized by the owners, with a design proven to withstand Hurricane Iris. Dreaming of a vacation home with beach chairs, margaritas, and warm waters lapping at their feet, the owners want to share their happy experiences at Salty Hawg with you. With backgrounds in engineering, architecture, interior design, and construction management, the owners have poured their hearts and souls into this home.

Bright and refreshing with polished wood floors, wicker furniture, and tropical colors, this home exudes plenty of island charm. Pour a fresh cup of lemonade and peer out over the ocean bay from oversized picture windows, or head just beyond the living area's French doors to get a better view outside. Here you'll find an outdoor dining set on a large deck. Shaded at certain times of the day, the outdoor table is perfect for al fresco dining accompanied by birdsongs and lush palm tree views.

Speaking of dining, you'll find all the necessary appliances and cooking accessories needed for whipping up homemade breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the open concept kitchen back inside. Layout ingredients on ample countertops and easily make your favorite beverages with the blender or coffeemaker. Gather around the indoor two-seat table and nearby wicker chairs for group meals indoors.

Afterward, why not get some bonding time in by playing a thrilling board game together? You could also head down to the spacious dock just beyond the property and try your luck at reeling in tarpon, snapper, and other species that live in the area's waters. Watch pelicans dive for fish, or try to spot a ray or sea star in the water. Piers are no longer allowed to be constructed in the area, making this one a special find.

Outdoor restaurants abound, so treat yourself and indulge in delicious, satisfying meals out throughout your stay. And when your activity-filled day comes to an end, get the restful sleep you deserve in any of three bedrooms on two levels. Welcoming up to six guests, two bedrooms lie on the second floor and each contains queen beds, while the third bedroom is up a ladder on the third level and has two twin-size beds. Each bedroom has modest furnishings, including nightstands, reading lamps, and air conditioning units (only in the master bedroom and living area) or ceiling fans for comfort.

Wake to a sunshine-filled morning and get ready for a new day of adventures. Start a load of laundry in the washing machine (no dryer), connect to the WiFi, and start planning your day's activities. From saltwater sport-fishing charters to scuba diving with whale sharks, exploring ancient ruins, and hiking through the tropical rainforest in nearby national parks, there's so much to experience close to Placencia! And the best part is that it's all family-friendly!

Uncrowded beaches, beautiful scenery, and loads of activities await you in the Placencia Peninsula - book this lovely home today and start planning an unforgettable trip to Belize!

Everything was excellent.

This rustic home is nested miles out of Placencia village itself so the area is quiet. The views from the balcony in the evening of the mountains is just spectacular!

Such a beautiful space. Stylish, minimal and sparkling clean. Beautiful view of palms and the lagoon. And Coatis and iguanas cruising across the garden. Air con was fantastic, such a great space to walk in to after a hot day out.

“The house was great, the location was perfect, it felt ultra private, but was super accessible to everywhere we wanted to go on the peninsula. It felt very un-crowded, even though there were five of us. Chris was a wonderful host, super responsive, and how to smooth everything out for us.”

The property manager and maintenance man were GREAT!!! They responded quickly to resolve our problems. But unfortunately we had problems almost everyday. First we had no wash cloths or towels. Next we had no hot water. Then we had no water. The washing machine and dryer didn't work. There was no iron, ironing board, or microwave. The rooms have folding doors that do not lock and the second and third bedrooms have no air. Again, outstanding service from the property manager and maintenance man. But the owner needs to upgrade this property.
Manager response:
Thank you for your valuable feedback. It helps us to improve the unit. The manager has made some upgrades and is discussing additional upgrades with the owner. We are sorry you were not comfortable. We hope we can host you again in a unit more suited to your needs.

The accommodations were great, this is an ideal spot for multiple couples or a family. The property manager and vacation concierge were quick to respond and helpful.

One recommendation I would make to future guests is to ensure that you've rented a car because this location is a 10 minute drive from the nearest convenience store.

Location is fantastic to rest. Not so far and not so close to Placencia village.
A lot of nice places to eat and to spend the day are near to the property.
Quiet surroundings so you sleep like a baby.

Great location with great view.
There are many things to do in Placencia!
We had a great time.

Great location, great house, great times.

The spaciousness of the house with 3 bedrooms, living area and veranda, plus low rental price for the Placencia area are attractions. Be aware that furniture is old and house needs structural maintenance. If you are willing to put up with some limitations to save money for a family or group, this could work. Don't expect 4-star hotel amenities for this price.
Manager response:
The stairs leading to the door have been replaced and are now very sound. The furniture is older, but we have recently replaced the cushions. Thank you!

The house is nice (good kitchen, but table is too small, with not enough chairs for 6 people and oven does not seem to work - living room is great! - washing machine is convenient! - beds could be more comfortable... - living space is satisfactory for 6 adults - views of the lagoon are nice! - balcony is beautiful!), and the location is good (nights are very quiet - about 25 mins by car from the tip of the peninsula, pier and beach, but less driving time to other restaurants). Unfortunately, our 2-star rating is tainted by the fact that our group of 6 adults was very unsatisfied with the cleanliness of the house: the night we got to the house, we noticed an unsanitary number of lizard feces and dead mosquitoes all over the house (on the couches, kitchen counters, floors, carpet, beds, walls, top of kitchen cupboards, stairs to the 2nd floor...) and spider webs hanging from the ceiling... We had to do the cleaning ourselves, and requested a thorough cleaning of the house the next day while we would be absent. The carpet was minimally cleaned, and the rest of the house was still soiled when we returned (unfortunately our request was not met). The communication with the host and staff was very easy and rapid, so we were very satisfied with that, but sitting on dirty couches (we had to put linens on them) and walking on dirty carpets and floors on a daily basis is not very pleasant :(
Manager response:
We sincerely apologize for the state this guest found the home in. We had checked the home two days prior, but we will be sure to inspect the home closer to guest check-in in the future to avoid this. We are sorry to see this guest was dissatisfied with the second cleaning and wish they had notified the property manager as we assumed they were content since we did not hear back. We have replaced the mattresses so beds should be more comfortable. Thank you!

We really enjoyed the Salty Hawg - it has everything you need for a simple self catered holiday and Vacasa support from Montse and Rudy was nothing short of exceptional.

The Salty Hawg was a great place to vacation! The house and the property surrounding it is absolutely beautiful. The property manager, Montse, was great at responding to our every need while we were there and even provided us with several suggestions of places to go and things to do on our trip. I especially enjoyed being able to lay out in the sun by the pool and the excellent food at some of the nearby resorts (Placencia Resort and Belize Ocean Club)! The Turtle Inn has a fantastic dinner menu and the atmosphere and scenery are simply amazing. We had a wonderful time going into the village shops as well as buying the "catch of the day" down at the pier in the evening. We were able to get several pounds of red snapper at a very good price, bring them back to the Salty Hawg, and cook them for dinner the same night! So fresh and it turned out great! We also drove about 30 min to a nearby waterfall one day. You drive through a cute little orange orchard to get to the parking lot and then hike less than a mile up a small mountain and can jump in the pool under a beautiful and refreshing waterfall! I would recommend Placencia and further the Salty Hawg to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun-filled vacation in a unique part of Central America! I can't wait to return!

We recently had a wonderful stay at the Salty Hawg cottage. The trip to Belize was a perfect combination of adventure and relaxation. The cottage is well located to take advantage of Belize's many opportunities. We had great fun planning dining options which were all great and affordable. The cottage was comfortable and outfitted with everything that we needed. Late afternoons were spent on the great deck overlooking the lagoon with distant mountains as a backdrop. Thank you for a fantastic trip. We hope to return to Salty Hawg!
