Recent Pahoa vacation rental reviews

The home is well-equipped, comfortable, with a lovely view of the ocean and rocky beach just below the back deck which is well equipped with tables and chairs for relaxing and viewing. We enjoyed the sunrise over the ocean most mornings and the sunset when we weren't out to dinner. The open concept kitchen, dining room and living room all have views of the ocean as well and were a favorite morning/evening gathering area for our five-person group. We slept well on comfortable beds soothed by sounds of the ocean, birds, the occasional tree frogs or rain. Bedrooms included plenty of room for charging electronics and a fan to cool or provide white noise, as well as ample dresser and closet space. The neighborhood is great for walking, with friendly locals waving or chatting. We found the location convenient for daily outings (15 minute drive to Pahoa, 45 minutes to Hilo and an hour to Kilauea). Great place to retreat, unwind and explore!

We stayed here for a little over a month while we finalize closing of our new home. The home is nice and clean with extra towels and linens. It has everything we needed. Theres also cleaning supplies which makes it easier to cleanup after my kids. The home does not have air conditioning and can get pretty hot during the day with windows open and fans running. At night it gets cooler so we had no problems sleeping through the night. The home uses water catchment so be mindful of water usage. We were told catchment tank was low towards the end of our stay but it was raining two days prior which doesn’t make any sense. Either or be mindful of what you use. Communication is a bit lacking. It seems this property is not priority so if you ran out of propane or need something urgent, good luck. You may need to wait the next day or two for someone to make it out. Other than that, this home is lovely and we enjoyed this part of the island.

Life slows down a bit in Pahoa---but that’s how locals (and vacation rental guests) like it. This little corner of the Big Island is surrounded by natural beauty; from the Puna Forest Reserve to the Nanawale Reserve, lush tropical beauty surrounds you here. Ancient lava flows pave the forest floor of Lava Tree State Monument---it’s a unique natural sight you have to experience for yourself. If you’re more inclined to spend your time in the waves, the Kapoho tidepools create a snorkeler’s heaven. Don’t miss the out on the gorgeous black sand beach of Kehena, either.

In town, Pahoa offers plenty of local dining to satisfy every vacation rental guest’s palate. Be sure to try to island flavors of Nicoco Hawaiian Gelato and Pele’s Kitchen! Keeau, about 10 miles to your north, has tons of dining and shopping options, too, as well as the ever-popular Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Farm. It’s all at your doorstep when you stay at a Pahoa vacation rental.
