Make Island Park your next getaway

Twenty minutes from Yellowstone's western entrance, Island Park sits inside the world's largest caldera with a permanent population under 300 and an outdoor résumé that's anything but small. Legendary fly fishing on the Henry's Fork, world-class snowmobiling, the thundering spectacle of Upper Mesa Falls, and the crystal clarity of Big Springs add up to one of the most genuinely wild destinations in the American West.

Recent Island Park guest reviews

Ryan is a wonderful repeat guest and it's always a pleasure to host him. He communicates clearly, respects the property, and consistently takes great care of the space. We truly appreciate his continued loyalty and would welcome him back anytime — highly valued guest!

We stayed over new years. Not a lot of snow this year, but the cabin was cozy and had everything we needed. Plenty of room. The road to the cabin and the driveway was plowed. Although we had four wheel drive, my sister drove her car in with no problems. If you have little kids and are looking for something do do in the winter besides snow mobile, there is a little sledding hill about 4 miles away behind the Timber Condominium guest house.

We rented this unit and Unit #1 for a combined family get away. I wish the two units were connected, but you had to go outside to get to the other unit. Not a problem since the outside area is covered and doors are a close distance together. This unit has everything you need and is quite comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and the bed and pillows are so soft! They even have extra fuzzy soft blankets to snuggle in while you watch tv or read.

What you'll love about Island Park

Island Park's location inside the world's largest volcanic caldera, 20 minutes from Yellowstone's western entrance gives it an address that's hard to compete with. The Henry's Fork of the Snake River is a legendary blue-ribbon trout fishery, Big Springs produces 120 million gallons of crystal-clear water daily, and Upper Mesa Falls is one of the most dramatic natural features in the region. In winter, the snowmobiling trails are among the country's best, and the stargazing is extraordinary year-round.

Fun things to do

  1. Fly fish the world-famous Henry's Fork of the Snake River for trophy trout.
  2. Day trip to Yellowstone National Park just 20 minutes away via the west entrance.
  3. Hike 20+ miles of trails through Harriman State Park's meadows and river corridors.
  4. Watch Upper Mesa Falls plunge 65 feet over the Snake River caldera edge.
  5. Visit Big Springs to see 120 million gallons of crystal-clear water emerge daily from the earth.
  6. Snowmobile hundreds of miles of groomed trails through forests, meadows, and mountains.
  7. Boat, fish, and water-ski on the 7,000-acre Island Park Reservoir.
  8. Cross-country ski or snowshoe Harriman State Park's 24+ miles of groomed winter trails.
  9. Wildlife watch for moose, eagles, osprey, and bison throughout the region.
  10. Hike or drive to Mount Sawtelle Peak for sweeping 360-degree Centennial Mountain views.
