Having selected Vacasa a few times in the past for house vs. hotel and being completely happy each time, I knew to research homes in the unfamiliar area of Kingston, WA area for an art workshop I was attending. Three women, one house, four nights….oh boy! How to choose wisely?
The Kingston House appealed because of the beautiful photos and the description. But photos can be deceiving. I took a leap of faith and booked for four nights. Upon arrival we were all completely blown away by not only the house, but the gardens/yard, the view, and the close proximity to the WA ferry and quaint downtown Kingston. All walkable! We’re all of a certain age so I had to be mindful of limitations.
The house does have stairs, as does the yard. But we all managed quite nicely with no 911 calls necessary. I would say the only drawback is having only one working shower plus a clawfoot bathtub. Unless you want to walk across the yard to the studio apartment above the garage. A beautifully done, small one bedroom/kitchen/bath apartment. Had we chosen to utilize that space, however, there most likely would have been a somewhat brutal coin toss between the three of us for dibs!
It was a wonderful time! Laughter, tears, good wine, snacks…and most importantly camaraderie. When we invited four others from our workshop group for an evening get together, two of the gals were in the garden/yard for about an hour just enjoying the incredible assortment of plants, flowers, trees. It is truly amazing.
We all hated to leave yesterday. Partly because of the great workshop at the Black Barn Studio. But it was the house, the history, the joy of discovering a new area, and knowing that we all shared an experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
Thank you to the homeowners for sharing the legacy of the Kingston House. And thank you Vacasa for offering this incredible home! It truly is a gem! Karen A.
