Plenty of room and right on the lake.

Overall the house was wonderful, but there were a few things which could be fixed on. But don't forget the pros! Cons - There is no wifi available in the house, which I wish would have been made more apparent in the booking process. While I love the idea of a no-devices getaway, with the pass of my job, it was frustrating to not have any wifi available. - There was some dust around the windows and many dead flies around the windows as well. -Kind of an old scent lingers in the house Pros - It was overall extremely clean! Well equipped with everything we could imagine -Wonderful view and close beach access. It is the perfect place I wanted to spend my time in Florence. - My family does hope to come back again, but we hope the cons are addressed for next time!

Where is Florence, OR?

North of Dunes City and just south of Hecata Beach, Florence sits on the Siuslaw River, separated from the Pacific by the northern end of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Wind-sculpted mountains of sand stretch for forty miles south, making a gorgeous backdrop for unusual activities such as dune-buggy-riding and sand boarding; or, simply take a blanket and a beach chair to enjoy some of the coast's most beautiful beaches.

Things to do in Florence

For a different kind of scenery, head north from your Florence vacation rental about 12 miles to one of the Coast's most photographed spots: the elegant Heceta Head lighthouse at the stunning Devil's Elbow State Park. Nearby, the wildlife viewing made possible at the Sea Lion Caves will win over even those normally skeptical of roadside attractions. Back in Florence, the historic Old Town is a delightful waterfront business district, home to restaurants, antique shops, art galleries, and a history museum.

Restaurants in Florence

Eating well is not difficult in Florence. Plenty of seafood restaurants, chowder houses, and cafes line Bay Street, but make a special point to stop for the crab-encrusted halibut at local favorite The Waterfront Depot. The best beer list in town is found at the laid-back Beachcomber Pub, or for something less potent, grab a cup of freshly-roasted coffee at Siuslaw River Coffee Roasters and enjoy the waterfront views from the patio.

Day trips from Florence

Florence is 61 miles from Eugene, about 120 miles to Salem, and just over 160 miles to Portland. Within two hours, visitors can be exploring the aquarium in Newport, enjoying the vistas of Cape Perpetua near Yachats, or golfing at the famous Bandon Dunes; but in all fairness, Florence herself offers plenty to keep the whole family busy, happy, and well-fed!
