Duplex w/ decks, shared firepit/gazebo, 1 block to beach, 2 dogs OK!

Enjoy a sun-splashed beach retreat at this two-bedroom Ocean Park property, a dog-friendly duplex with two private decks, easy walking access to the beach, and a shared piece of property with a gazebo, a firepit, and a charcoal grill.

This second-floor space sits just over one block from the beach, on a historical property that it shares with a downstairs apartment (the one-bedroom Lower Deck) and a main house (the two-bedroom Keeper's Quarters, which was formerly the Klipsan Beach Life Saving Station and the 309 Coast Guard Station). All three spaces can be rented together by larger groups as the five-bedroom 309 Historic Coast Guard Station.

Whether you're vacationing with friends or spending time with your kids, you can surf and search for sand dollars on the wide open beach one block west, dig for the famous razor clam in Long Beach eight miles south, and use the shared charcoal grill, gazebo, and firepit to host fun-filled summer barbecues.

Wake up to the sun streaming through the large windows each morning, and curl up with a good book or a crossword on the sofa. Brew a fresh pot of coffee in the full kitchen, bring your dogs outside to the dog run in the shared yard (please note that a two-dog limit and a nightly pet fee apply), and take a seat on the deck as you post photos on the free WiFi. Should the rain decide to roll in, fear not: you'll have access to a TV, an expansive movie library, and shared laundry facilities to keep your clothes fresh and dry.

The historical significance of the house was very charming! The location was amazing!!
Just a few things though...
Shower curtain was so gross! Moldy and slimy. That goes for the tub too. The broom is being held together with duct tape. I mention this because I swept often due to the sand that came in on our shoes.
The. Couch. Wow. It is really time to invest in another couch. It was so uncomfortable! Saggy and just old and gross.
No staples in the kitchen. Be sure to bring everything with you.
I really hope the owners consider these complaints. It would have made the stay so much more amazing!!!! Please do your little place some justice.
Manager response:
Hi, David! Thank you for your comments! We would have been happy to assist with a mid-stay clean and to replace the shower curtain had you notified us of your concerns. We have shared your comments regarding the couch and decor with the owner for their consideration.

Very homey and well stocked down to movies, games, books, and clothes and boots. Very kid friendly, if the weather is not. Our children loved it and can't wait to go again!

This property is great for dogs, and would be lots of fun for kids, too. It was just the two of us staying with our dogs. The apartment was very clean and reasonably comfortable. The bed and pillows were nice. The couch a bit saggy. The lighthouse decor was very nice. We had to hit the grocer for some cooking supplies -- there was NO food/cooking items at all, not even salt & pepper, so bring whatever you need! The gift pail of snacks was very nice. It was also a treat to just leave the sheets/towels for the cleaners to take care of.
