we enjoyed another fabulous season of winter's fun at the Old Crow again this year. It's such a great spot, and the new gas heater is incredible~!
Great cozy cabin! Very close to everything in the Franconia Notch and Mt. Washington area.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Crow Cottage. It is in a very good location, very close to Franconia notch state park and an hour away from Mt. Washington. We enjoyed the Flume Gorge (15 min away) the Franconia Loop trail (15 min away) Mt Washington (1 hr away) and Polly's Pancakes haha ( 10 min away). The cabin is what is advertised, sleeps 3 ideally since one bed is a futon (which worked fine), it is clean, simple and has a nice outdoor fire area with iron cook top. It also has a mini charcoal grill large enough for 4 steaks. Im glad we are experienced campers and woods enjoying people because i thought ahead to bring newspaper, kinlin wood and a hatchet to start fires. We were able to gather enough dead pine from the woods to make a fire but keep in mind if you want a fire you will either need to bring wood, scavenge, or purchase wood nearby. This could be one thing that could be offered, charge a little extra to have a couple bundles already there or at least mention about needing wood. Not a big deal we loved our stay just a thought. If you plan on 4 or 5 people bring a cot, (another thing the cabin could have stored somewhere, a cot). Overall very pleased, already thinking about visiting in the winter for some skiing at Cannon which is only minutes away. Oh and one more thing, Mac's market in town has pretty much everything you would need, some reviews complained it was pricey but we didn't think it was that bad considering where it is, in the middle of awesome country! Thank you.
Old Crow Cottage was clean and nice place to stay except for that tiny kid potty in the bathroom - needs a toilet upgrade to elongated. Also we didn't use the washer or dryer because there was mold in the washer and the side door to the garage wouldn't stay shut (we put our trash in there but bears could easily get in there - hope they didn't), so garade door needs latch adjustment. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much!
This year's stay at The Old Crow Cottage was as pleasant as last. The place has character. Best for couples or singles as space is limited. But since it was only the two of us, not a problem. On a side note, we have observed that the posted rental office hours don't seem to be etched in stone, at least in late October.
My husband and I wanted to take a week and hike in the White Mountains for our anniversary. I spent a long time looking at cabins, and most of the ones I found that were affordable were also lines of cabins right on top of each other and right on a major road. I wanted something with more privacy. The Old Crow Cottage was perfect. It's very close to Route 93, so you can get anywhere easily, but it still feels private since it's a single house set along a fairly quiet road across from a brook. There's a grocery store and gas just down the road and several restaurants within a reasonable distance.
The Cottage was clean, comfortable, and just the right amount of space for us. The shower is very small, but that's a trade-off for having a washer and dryer in the cottage, which was very useful the day I ended up ankle-deep in mud on one of our hikes!
The chairs by the TV were comfortable and there were plenty of lap blankets around which I thought was nice. It was great to be able to spend the day hiking or exploring NH and then come back to a cozy cottage to make dinner and spend a quiet evening together. We're already considering coming back next year!
We had a wonderful 2 days just relaxing and away from work and daily life.
We had a wonderful time in the Old crow cottage! We definitly hope to return!
We loved our stay at the Old Crow Cottage. It is cute, quiet, and sufficiently rural, and close to lots of hiking opportunities. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway without too many humans close by. It's very affordable too, and the closest houses are barely visible through the trees. It was perfect!
Great place to stay. Quite peaceful and relaxing. Loved the yard and fire pit. I was only able to stay one of the two nights because of a family emergency. I will return next year
