Charming coastal property with stunning ocean views perfect for your next trip!
Escape to the scenic and charming Northern California Coast with a getaway at this one-bedroom Albion vacation rental! Originally a watertower (from which it gets its name) with the Fensalden Inn, this historic cottage is full of character with a second sleeping area in the loft, and gorgeous panoramic ocean views from the eight-acre property!
Just nine miles south of Mendocino, you'll enjoy a peaceful retreat near the ocean. There are three other vacation rental units on the property including a smaller house, (and the owners live in main house), but all have separate parking and offer a lot of privacy!
Originally built as a stagecoach stop in the 1860s, this wonderful coastal cottage has a unique history and is full of antiques - it feels like stepping back in time! Inside, you'll be treated to exposed wood beams and tall ceilings. There is no TV, but there is WiFi and a CD player.
The kitchen includes all the basics like a stove-top/oven, sink, small refrigerator, and microwave. And while you'll need to do dishes by hand, you can always let the pots and pans soak while you take a walk after dinner and view a stunning sunset over the ocean!
The bedroom downstairs has access out to the deck. This room is light and airy, with a queen-size bed and antique-style furnishings and there are two bathrooms on this main level, as well.
Upstairs, you'll find the loft-style second bedroom with another queen bed and a tall, slanted ceiling. This vacation home can sleep up to four guests comfortably.
Outside on the deck, there are spots for relaxing and enjoying the cool coastal breeze. Ideal for unplugging and relaxing, this oceanview home is perfect for a family or two couples traveling the scenic California coast together.
Guests are welcome to hike and roam around the full property (which features three other rentals) and there's a lot of room for kids to run and play. The ocean is less than one mile from your door, but from the property you'll have great water views.
Visit nearby Anderson Valley for wineries like Toulouse Vineyards (26 miles) and the Phillips Hill Tasting Room (22 miles), and right in the small town of Albion you'll find a couple of cafes and a grocery store, but there are many more choices just a few minutes north in Mendocino.
Both rocky and sandy beaches are nearby, as are activities like hiking and biking. Mendocino offers galleries and breweries and Fort Bragg, just 19 miles from your door, has even more shops, restaurants, and galleries.
Unwind and rejuvenate at this special Northern California Coast vacation rental in charming, coastal Albion!

Good location, unique building, easy check-in. Nice view of the ocean over the backyard. We explored between Fort Bragg and Point Arena. Nice to be able to cook meals and save leftovers.
This little place is very nice. Be sure to get your check in instructions ahead of time as the listing says. My "Aye Tee & Tee" service was zero at the property and I didn't write the info down. (My fault, I know). Once inside and connected to the WiFi (super easy also) the cell reception was no longer an issue.
The view out front is pretty spectacular with an open meadow view to the ocean with big trees on each side.
I didn't spend much time on the property as we were only there to take in the area for 2 days/1 night. I would've enjoyed staying longer in this home if that was my intentions.
If you're looking for serenity in a very peaceful place, look no further. My teen children (13,15)fought over the super cool loft area for sleeping and even appreciated how great this spot is, inside and out.
Loved the view, the cosy house, access to the ocean, beautiful place to walk, hike, enjoy!
Very secluded and sweet cabin.
We liked our mini vacation there a lot. As a matter of fact our little one asked us if we can go back and stay for a full week. And we are considering it.
Warm and comfortable. Kitchen reasonably well equipped for dining in; I always bring what I need anyway - good pan, spices, tablecloth but this home had fair setup.
Not too far to good hiking or Albion River Inn. We had great weather so views good with morning quail and deer. Only disappointment was that although fireplace pictured it is not useable, otherwise very nice accommodation.
We loved it!!! Very relaxing, great views, want to go back right now
Beautiful, compact house, perfect for Mendocino stay. Serene, remote settings, in foggy area, very quiet, calm and almost mystical spot.
Perfect for family or 2 couples, warm and cozy
We stayed here for our anniversary. My wife loves Mendocino and the area. I chose the Tower House for its views and location. We were able to sit outside and watch the sun go down into the ocean from the lawn. It is very beautiful.
The apartment is cozy and a little rustic. everything seems to function well except the wall heater. It was popping when it went off at night.
The place was remodeled in the 80s or 90s and it needs some upgrades. All said, for the price, it was very enjoyable and worth it.
We enjoyed this nice little house. It is clean, neat, and comfortable, big enough for 4 people with two queen beds and a sofa bed. The only issues are the lights above the kitchen sink are not working and the water flow from the shower is too slow. This house is facing the ocean and is supposed to have nice ocean view. However, it was very foggy the two days we stayed there. The heavy fog totally blocked the ocean view. We were kind of disappointed. It would be better if you stay there in a sunny clear day.
We appreciate the guests feedback. Our local maintenance technician will look at the lights about the kitchen sink as well as the water flow. Because the water comes from a well the water flow can be a little low.
Comfortable place for me, my wife and adult son, with a gorgeous property and ocean view. Quiet. Very comfortable beds. Enjoyed sitting on the deck in late afternoon. Kitchen is on the tiny side, with only an under-counter fridge. This is a second building next to a much larger vacation rental house, but there is plenty of room.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were terrific, and the sunroom. living room, dining room and kitchen were all excellent and worked well for our group of 14 (staying in 3 of the 4 houses on the property).
We enjoyed our stay at the Tower Suite in Albion. It was beautiful and quiet. The surrounding area has lots to do and see. We lived the Mendocino Coastal Gardens and Skunk train.
The "tower" was quaint and the view was absolutely beautiful. However, some of the furniture and carpets are very worn with stains and holes. The throw rug in the bathroom was torn and the kitchen is not equipped very well although it is small with not much space. I would not recommend cooking there. I don't think there was a bar-b-que, although I could be wrong. On the positive side, the setting is pretty and it was extremely quiet there.
We appreciate having these things brought to our attention. We have removed the rug with the hole in it, and the owners will continue upgrading furnishings and the home as time progresses. Thank you!
Clean and fresh and cozy! For a coastal property, it can sometimes be challenging to keep things smelling fresh but this cute cabin was absolutely, delightfully, clean and fresh. We went for work but will return for pleasure.
We loved our stay, definitely coming back
Take time and relax in your little piece of heaven. Forget the world and all ur troubles. Enjoy!!!!
Some minor repair issues. But overall a cute, cozy, nice place to stay.
The home was easy to find and located in a great area. The view was beautiful.
Over all we really enjoyed the house at Navarro Ridge Road. Was very close to the beach, Redwoods, Cambrillo Light house, Botanical Garden and restaurants. Has beautiful views. Is very private and cozy. We had a great time. Perfect for 1 or 2 couples or a family of four. Can sleep five if you use the sofa but better with 4 person or less. Thx.
This is such a peaceful and wonderful property. My mom, sister, niece and I came up for a girls getaway and fell in love with the area. It was very quiet and relaxing and only a 15-30 min drive into Mendo/Ft Bragg. I would recommend buying food because restaurant options are limited in the area. Everything else is provided. I would happily book this location again. The views are so beautiful and the wildflowers leave the air smelling wonderful.
This was the perfect setting for our couples trip to the ocean. We will definitely return again.
This house is ideal for a relaxing time near Mendocino. The house is fully equipped and the views are beautiful. Location is also lovely.
Nice house set amid nature with a peaceful view and surroundings. Owner lives in home next door but house still felt private and set apart. The area is great if you are looking for something quiet yet close enough to Mendocino and state parks with a short drive.
Great place to stay! Although the fog hindered our view of the surrounding areas this place still was very quite and beautiful. Mendocino and Ft. Brag are only 20 min down the road with plenty to do. Would recommend to everyone. Will be going back soon!
Nice size, easy place to have kids.
Not sure where the rest of the property is...because this rental is right next to owners.
The fireplaces cannot be used, so scratch romantic off the list.
Don't count on the couch as a bed...pull out mattress is a blow up with no air pump.
Tried to light the kerosene lamp...no wick.
Swings outside for kids.
I would stay for the mid week rate of 88...but not a weekend rate of 150.
We appreciate receiving this feedback to work with. The owners do live in the main house on this property and rent out the other units. The fireplaces have been removed as listed amenities, and the kerosene lamp has been removed from the home as a safety precaution. The Property Manager has placed an air pump in the home for an air mattress, but there is no advertised sofa bed for guest use. Thank you!
This place is very affordable and clean, sweet, and close to Medocino.
Great location for a romantic weekend. Very quiet.
It was a very frustrating stay. The key was not in the lock box and it took over 4 hours to reach VACASA and gain entry to the house. There was no electricity in the living room and no instructions on how to access the internet. Finally late afternoon of our second day the electrical and internet issues were solved. It is not a kitchen to do any serious cooking in. However, a toaster would have nice. The house was clean though a bit tired in furnishings. Had we wanted to use the bedroom in the loft it would have been very difficult to regulate the heat. And the smoke detector was malfunctioning on arrival.
We sincerely apologize that you were inconvenienced or so long due to our lack of response. We have experienced an increase in our call volumes and are actively hiring and training more Guest Services Agents so that we are more efficient on the phones.
The property did not live up to the pictures. Was disappointed by both outdated fixtures and the quality of the property.
Thank you for sharing your review. We are sorry that you were disappointed, but we appreciate your feedback. Our property manager will go through the home and ensure that the home is ready and comfortable for our guests going forward. We hope that you and your guests had a great time in Albion and appreciate you choosing Vacasa!
We really liked the home. very cozy. Kitchen is kinda small if you plan on cooking a big meal. But overall, we loved it and would stay again.
