A dining table seats six, so gather the group for a sit-down meal followed by a night full laughter and friendly competition across board games.
As eyelids fall heavy, head into either of the two bedrooms for a good night's rest. The master bedroom features a queen bed across from a flatscreen TV and the guest room has two twin beds. The apartment was clean and well kept it was the perfect amount of space for four on a work trip. It was great to have a kitchen and refrigerator at our disposal. The house is located close to everything: grocery store, restaurants, theaters, and Starbucks. It was very easy to find and well lit outside. We really enjoyed our stay.
Always amazed at how these historic old homes seem to endure with grace and charm. This place has all that one needs for a comfortable stay: nice beds, privacy, clean bathroom, kitchenette, reading room. Had a nice stay.
Our stay at the Old Mayor's House was amazing! It was within walking distance to everything needed. We had a wonderful stay and appreciated feeling at "Home".
Comfy. Well kept. It suited our families needs perfectly. Thanks.
Convenience and practicality
This was a very charming and comfortable place I would highly recommend it!
This is a wonderful home. It has lots of stairs but if that is okay it's great.
Clean, quiet, roomy, wonderful amenities. Didn't have to worry about dishes, linen, towels. Climate control great! Privacy (even from each other!) Very, very nice and convenient to shopping and theater.
Very nice place to stay if you want to visit national parks like Zion and Bryce Canyon. Clean and comfortable, it has everything you need and more (like a record player and old country records by Hank Williams and Andy Williams!).
Walking distance to Utah Shakespeare festival and downtown shops. It was just my mom & me, and she is 75. Stairs were a little tough, but the property was perfect for us!
We love our stay at this property. We stayed in the upstairs apartment. The yard was big and we were able to host a small bbq. Walking distance to park, baseball fields and shopping. Quiet and comfy! Loved it
I think it's important to know the house is upstairs. We did not have any difficulty with that but it could be a problem for some.
A very cozy place to stay within walking distance to stores and restaurants. Easy travel to Zion, Bryce and Cedar Breaks.
We love the location right behind Lin's grocery. You can walk to downtown Main Street and enjoy the stay there. Property was set back off the main street so it was quite quiet. I love the decor inside and the quaint feeling out of place. It had a lot of character.
My sisters and I rented this place for the weekend. It was much more modern inside than we expected and was in excellent condition. It was very clean and welcoming. We attended a play, but spent most of the rest of the weekend hanging out in this place and just enjoying each other's company. We will be back!
We originally planned for 2 nights, but were fortunate to extend it by 2 days. Wonderful place, and great location. The surrounding neighborhood seems a little run down, but we didn't have any issues while we were there. We used Cedar City as a central point for visiting Bryce, Zion, and even Capital Reef. We would stay there again in a heart beat.
This house was simply charming and well maintained! I wished parking was better (it was terrible) and clear communication that this home is also occupied by several full time renters. The sharing made it less than private. With that being said, I can't say enough about how charming and well maintained our portion of the home was!
We had many choices over the July 4th extended weekend to call our home base, for day trips. We chose Cedar City, and we are glad we did. The old mayors house was a perfect fit. Centerally located, for our day trips, and very comfortable. Market was within walking distance, and our favorite meal out wd Sonny Boys BBQ.
We traveled to Zion, Kolob, Bryce, & Cedar Breaks in our 5 days in Utah.
This rental is just the second floor, but can fit 4-6 people in the space. The house is old, but looks recently renovated and very well decorated. The wifi and AC both worked great. It was easy to find and we had shaded parking on the street out front. Bring a baby gate for the top of the stairs if you have a mobile baby.
The pictures cannot even show how adorable this house is. The beds were comfy, everything was in great shape, and the kitchen had everything you would need. The one thing that surprised us is we thought it was the whole house but it's actually the top floor which is fine because it has a separate door and is completely private we were just worried when we arrived because we saw people downstairs and were worried we booked the wrong night. Once we figured it out everything was great!
In a world of traveling and finding the right place to stay and choosing from a million options, my family and I happened to stumble across this unique property.
Our 1st stay here was in Aug 2016 for a week and let me say, we did not want to leave. To be able to unwind and sit on the front porch drinking our coffee and watching the kids in the neighborhood ride their bikes around and others out on a stroll, it brought back a lot of nastalgia, happiness and the sheer importance of life....family/quality of life.
This charming cottage offers many sleeping options that didn't make us (3 adults, 2 kids) feel like we were walking all over each other (every inch of the place was designed with a flowing and comfortable walkthru of living space).
Parks and trails walking distance as well as groceries, restaurants, shops and great ice cream parlors.
In the evening's you can find yourself enjoying a relaxing bonfire roasting smores, listening to music and indulging in your favorite beverage while looking up and seeing a million stars in the sky.
We have stayed here a couple of times now and will continue to come back as much as we can. The neighbors are absolute genuine people and make you feel like part of the family. This is my 2nd home.
The house is within walking distance of the library, a large playground, grocery store, and most restaurants. This made it so much easier with kids.
If you're traveling with young kids, bring something to black out the windows in the bedroom- white blinds made nap-time rough.
Has a great feel, so clean, something a little different, they have thought of everything very well stocked, comfy beds, beautiful bedding and pillows, location is walking distances from everything and just a short drive away for everything else this place is practically perfect in every way!
Lovely place! Will stay again in a heartbeat next time we visit Cedar City!
This is a very clean, very lovely old home and very cozy for the family. It's about a twenty minute walk to the Festival through the main section of old town Cedar City. This home has the best stocked kitchen I have EVER seen in any rental - our family is big, so we nearly always rent a house as opposed to a hotel so I've seen a few rental kitchens. Lots of fun touches like chalkboard paint on some of the kitchen cabinets so you can write up pending meals and activities. So many stuffed animals for the kids to tote around, many books and windows that open (with screens) to let in those great desert breezes.
Just a few things - for families, like I said, be sure you talk about the large TVs (one of the mounted to a wall in a very small parlor) before you come so that no one damages them. Also, be aware that the rental area is upstairs and above two other units (at least, that's what it looked like). I probably wouldn't have rented it had I realized that just because I don't like to disturb others with the pitter patter of little feet - or indoor games, impromptu dancing and other fun stuff the children concoct that isn't exactly sedate.
Also, and this will only apply to those who might rent in the next few months, most likely (I'm writing this August 2016), but there was A LOT of construction noise during our stay. Something is being built directly across the street and the heavy equipment made a great deal of noise at all hours of the day and night. Early in the morning (like 6am) and late into the night, we had the loud beeping of equipment backing up and the scraping of the machinery doing it's work. This is NOT something the landlord can do anything about. However, it's something to consider if you have babies, toddlers or just anyone who would like to sleep in on their vacation days.
The house does have a steep stairway upon entering so keep that in mind when packing. Once you pass the stairway you enter a great little house! The owner has truly thought of any and all possible needs. The decor is lovely yet comfortable and inviting. There are good books to cuddle up with for all ages and toys to occupy little ones. There are wine glasses to sippy cups and this combined with the excellent location makes it the perfect choice. It's in walking distance to parks, restaurants, Shakespeare and even a farmers market. If you're in need of a place to stay and want a comfy bed this is the house for you! I look forward to visiting again in the future!
I plan to stay here the same week in July every year for the rest of my life. I can walk to the amazing and spectacular Shakespearean Festival! The grocery store is less than a 60 second walk away. A fantastic children's park and library are less than a 5 minute walk away. A beautifully decorated, fully equipped home away from home. I think it can comfortably accommodate up to 4 people. One bathroom. The only surprise was no dishwasher but with a little thought, the few minutes of hand washing was a nice change of pace.
