Unique and stylish home with deck, firepit & forest views!

Bask in the forest beauty of this two-bedroom Rhododendron home, a stylish and comfortable mountain retreat with an outdoor deck and firepit, and views of the surrounding woodlands.

An ideal escape for small families, groups of friends, and outdoor enthusiasts in every season, this single-level home sits in a wooded neighborhood just four miles from central Rhododendron. You'll be four miles from the Resort at the Mountain, 13 miles west of Mt. Hood Skibowl, 20 miles from Timberline Lodge and Ski Area, and 24 miles from the slopes of Mt. Hood Meadows. And the national forest is just two miles away up Lolo Pass Road.

With exposed cedar log walls and elements of Scandinavian design, the living space is a wonderful blend of style and comfort. Come home from an afternoon hike to Ramona Falls to warm your feet by the wood stove, recline on the L-shaped sofa, and keep an eye on the local wildlife through the wall of windows.

The spacious kitchen is well-equipped for baking, cooking delicious family dinners, and hosting special occasion celebrations. In the morning, grind your own coffee beans from Mt. Hood Roasters and unload the dishwasher as you set the table. Sit down to read the newspaper at the three-person bar counter, or enjoy a meal together around the dining room table for six.

When the autumn leaves begin to change, enjoy the view from a seat on the deck, which offers bench seating and a gas grill for afternoon barbecues. Once the temperatures drop, you can huddle with family and friends around the tree-lined firepit.

Back inside, you'll find a collection of books and board games, WiFi, and a flatscreen cable TV in the living room, allowing guests to relax and unwind after a day of skiing, hiking, golfing, or fishing.

With two bedrooms and one full bathroom, Black Lodge will comfortably accommodate as many as six guests. The cedar walls and ceilings continue in the cozy master bedroom, which offers a king-size bed and lush carpeting. The guest room is the perfect place for kids and friends to gather, as it features two charming sets of twin-over-full bunk beds.

The one bathroom has a spa bathtub/shower combination and a set of double vanities. Additional amenities include a private washer and dryer in the hallway, allowing guests to keep their outdoor clothes warm and fresh.

Whether you're planning a relaxing retreat or an adventure-filled weekend in the great outdoors, this rustic and unique Rhododendron escape will make you feel right at home. Book a tee time at the The Courses at the Resort at the Mountain, which offer 27 holes with lovely views of the Salmon River Valley, or venture out to explore the many lakes and hiking trails in the surrounding area.

And when the snow begins to fall each winter, you'll find a total of 65 runs, four lifts, and 300 inches of annual snowfall at Mt. Hood Skibowl. Timberline Lodge, which boasts the longest ski season in North America, also has a 3,690-foot vertical drop - which is more than any other resort in the Pacific Northwest.

Rest, relax, and enjoy the natural splendor that surrounds you - book your wonderful Mt. Hood vacation home today! A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

*Effective 7/27/2020, due to local fire danger levels, there is an open fire ban in the area. No open flames are allowed out of doors, including no campfires, warming fires, cooking fires or ceremonial fires. Fires are prohibited in all campgrounds and other sites with developed fire pits.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. It was just enough room and more for the 4 of us and included all of the amenities we needed for a perfect staycation in the woods.

The lodge worked out well for us. The kitchen had so many appliances and dishes which was great! Check-in and everything was seamless. Location was convenient.

We did notice that the shower wasn’t cleaned when we arrived. There were old soaps and toiletries with their wrappers left in there from previous guests. Everything else in the lodge was clean though. The hot tub Jets never worked properly, they were very weak. And lastly, for us, the bed was uncomfortable. Quite firm, as well as the pillows. But if you like firmness, then great!

Overall, we were comfortable and happy.
Manager response:
We apologize for the housekeeping oversight in the bathroom and understand what a disappointment that must have been. Please feel free to reach out when you find something like this so we can correct it. Thank you!

This house is very peaceful and a beautiful space to getaway for the weekend. It's quiet with lots of space to relax and enjoy slowing down. The hot tub may have helped a bit too :) Highly recommend!

The home was cozy and well stocked. It was in a quiet cabin neighborhood and was simply relaxing. The hot tub was a nice bonus and was well used during our stay. The family and I just hunkered down, watched movies, BBQ'd and enjoyed several board games that the cabin provided. The rooms were cozy, and beds were comfortable. The only thing we did not like was the proximity to the road, but not a deal breaker. Thanks for having us at Black Lodge! 🙏🏼❤️

Quiet and relaxing. Couldn't figure out how to use the hot tub but it was a great time away from the stress if work

Nice place to get away from the city.

The space is terrific and if we had been able to turn on heaters without tripping the circuit breakers multiple times, this would have been an ideal house. The electrical needs to be upgraded.
Manager response:
We are sorry to read you were unhappy, Hannah. The home has three cadet wall heaters, and we are replacing the back bedroom heater. There is also a wood stove in the living room with owner provided wood to heat the home. The outlet problem has been fixed. Please note the space heaters must be plugged into different circuits to prevent tripping the breakers. Thank you!

I had such a nice weekend at this home with my husband and a few friends! Everything in the home is designed beautifully. As others have said, it's a little dark inside but we mainly spent the evenings at the house so it didn't matter. The hot tub was great! We also appreciated all of the coffee tools, games, and extra blankets and towels. The beds were SUPER comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!

It was a fun little cottage in the woods. Great for a getaway. Everything was clean and well stocked. Even lots of newspaper for starting fires in the wood stove.
It does have a bit of a musty mildew smell inside however being nestled in the woods where nothing really gets a chance to dry out, I'm not sure there is much you can do about it.
My only real complaint we had was you are completely out of cell service. There is wifi, however while we were there , there was a fuse that blew and the router was on that fuse along with many lights and the hot tub. We had to drive all the way into town to call the company for help. Customer service at Vacasa was very helpful and got us back into power. But it just sort of took us out of vacation mode for a couple hours to figure out how to connect with civilization once we were disconnected. Otherwise we would totally rent again! Thanks for the getaway!

Hot tub très agréable

This was a beautiful and cozy home for a perfect anniversary weekend. The home was clean, nicely appointed and most of all cozy. It truly was a home a way from home.

Loved it! And best beds ever!!!!
Kile A. Feb 2019
The location was perfect, 15-20 minutes to ski bowl, 10 minutes to the grocery store and ski rental place, couldn't ask for a better location.

The house itself was immaculately clean, had tons of dishes (which was helpful with all the cooking we did), all electronics worked great, and especially helped having the Shinning as part of the collection to give everyone a nice little scare in a classic take on Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge!

The hot tub was amazing after a day on the slopes, and the cabin had the most perfect homey feel. The smell of wood when you first walk in is so inviting! The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the heat and fireplace worked perfect!

Fantastic place, and for the price you just can't beat it!

Great location and amenities for this house if you're looking for some rustic charm in the woods with all the conveniences of home.

Loved the atmosphere. Kitchen was fully equipped. The house was spacious but also a bit dark. Jacuzzi was nice and the neighborhood was quiet.

The style inside this lodge is gorgeous! It’s so comfy. The hot tub was really nice. The amount of lighting in this home was so amazing! It felt right at home.

My husband and I rented the lodge for a week and it was fantastic. The owners had all the amenities you would need for a comfortable stay! Prime location, about 1 hour from Portland and about 30 minutes from Trellium lake and other sites. Plenty of room for more guests or just for 2.

What was there not to love?! First the exterior of the house is black.. my favorite! Step inside to a curated cabin experience. Everything was thought of from blue tooth speakers, wood for the fireplace, assortment of games, Pendleton towels, a hot tub.. just all around top notch. I would highly recommend staying at the Black Lodge!

This is our second stay at the Black Lodge and last time I would have given it 5 stars. This time, I was less happy, although I did still enjoy my stay. The kitchen is beautifully stocked with nice appliances and great cookware. We had all the towels and cleaning supplies that we could need. The housekeeping team is excellent and the property looked great when we got there. I was very frustrated to find that the hot tub had been programmed to economy mode and not turned back on for our stay. It was snowy out and the hot tub was one of the reasons we decided to come back here. It took us until our last day to get the tub up to temp after waiting a while to hear back from the local manager. Additionally, the barbeque was functioning only marginally and we had to have an extra person stand there to hold two of the knobs down while grilling in order to maintain constant flame. Other than those two concerns, our stay was fantastic and the manager was cordial and helpful when he got back to me, although he didn't offer any recomspense for us losing the first two days worth of time in the tub.
Manager response:
We apologize the housekeeper mistakenly set the hot tub on the wrong mode; we have instructed her further on how to properly prepare the hot tub for guest arrival. We will have a new BBQ in place in the near future. Thank you!

Absolutely no issues during our stay. Though the home is close to the street, your not bothered by it at all. We had a lot of fun with adult games provided with the home. Enough wood was provided. Hot tub was hot! Cleanliness was awesome! TV remotes had instructions. Lock box was easy. Check it out for yourself!

I am taking the time to review, because I do really like the house. The furnishings and decor are a nice modern simple style. There was everything we needed and more very well put together and in good condition (plenty of towels, blankets, kitchen items, first aid kit, games, books,...). For this mini vacation, our goal was to just hang out in the cabin and use the hot tub (which was nice and hot upon arrival - thank you :). It is very close to lolo pass road however and the houses are close so not a place you can go out the door for a walk around the area as far as we could tell. Other reviewers mentioned the musty smell which was apparent and though lessened over time, it was still there and since it was cold out we didn't open windows or doors. Also as someone else mentioned the lighting is dim and since everything is black it can seem even more so. There are lots of lamps but with a lot of exposed bulbs it can make for awkward lighting and you also have to go around turning them on and off. We slept in the room with the king bed which was comfortable, but the rain was really loud on the metal roof and kept my husband and I up on and off throughout the night. It is a comfortable cabin to hang out in!

We lucked into this place while searching for rentals in or near the 2017 eclipse totality. There's not always going to be an eclipse, but this is one of the best equipped and most stylish rentals we have ever been to. Only regret is that we were just there for the weekend!
Tanja Anke S. Jul 2017
The lodge is very nice. Everything one need for a relaxed time is there! Unfortunately the is some mouse activity in the kitchen when we stayed there. We had to wash everything before use and couldn't put anything back into the drawers (mouse droppings!)
Manager response:
We are sorry to see there were unwelcome visitors during this stay. Pest control has helped the owner block points of entry and set traps; if this does not solve the problem the owner will get pest control set up for the home. Thanks!
Seth K. Jun 2017
The house itself, though somewhat poorly lit and within very close proximity to other homes, is a fun little retreat that was easily able to fit six people with space left over. The kitchen is expansive and provides you with the ability to make great meals, in addition to the grill and hot tub both being fun additions.
SARA B. May 2017
It was great to have a hot tub, great deck and fireplace but the house is right on the Lolo Pass road which is really busy and the house itself was very dark (both from lacking actual lights, dim lights that were there, and then additional darkening with all furniture. I felt like I was constantly wandering around in the half dark.
Georgia G. Apr 2017
We loved the cabin once we got rid of the terrible smell from who knows what got left in the fridge and for how long. Right by a main road.
Rachel P. Apr 2017
This was an ideal setting for our ladies weekend. Secluded but not far from restaurants and grocery shopping. Super cozy, was absolutely stocked with everything we needed for meals, game, books and movies. It really made it easy for everyone to relax. We all slept comfortably and even though there were 6 people staying at the cabin the fact that there was only one bathroom was never ever an issue. We all got a ton of hot tub use as well. Not one of us wanted to leave and opted to pay for the late departure so we could chill out longer. My friend and I are already planning our next stay.

Cute, clean and economical.

was a awesome stay no complaints here staff was very caring and helpful
Jennifer M. Dec 2016
We loved our stay here. The details were well thought out - phone charging stations, easy to find wi-fi information, lots of firewood at the ready, candles, fully stocked appliances in the kitchen for cooking, pre-heated hot tub, a variety of board/card games (with pieces intact), etc...

The house was a bit cold but with space heaters it warmed up just fine. We loved our stay here. The house was easy to find and was a great way to enjoy the beauty of Mt. Hood.
