Modern oceanfront cottage south of Yachats - views, deck, & firepit
Escape to the Oregon Coast and stay in this modern oceanfront cottage near Yachats. Perfect for a small family or two couples, this beautiful home offers a convenient yet intimate setting with ocean views, a deck, and an outdoor firepit.
Right on Highway 101 and buffered by the trees, this home is about nine miles south of Yachats proper, giving you a feeling of seclusion. Enjoy an afternoon in the hammock or walk down the path behind the house to the beach, which you will likely have all to yourself. You can also easily visit the Sea Lion Caves or Heceta Head Lighthouse from here!
Completely rebuilt and tastefully appointed, this home has a comfortable, modern vibe. Step inside and notice the stylish furnishings and large windows, which provide plenty of natural light. Lounge in the living room while you take in lovely ocean views. Slide a DVD into the player or stream a movie on Netflix via the Roku, and enjoy the flatscreen TV and electric fireplace. The complimentary WiFi will allow you to get your bearings, find directions, and plan your itinerary.
The eat-in kitchen offers standard stainless appliances, including a dishwasher, and extras like a coffeemaker and microwave. Create sumptuous meals with ease and enjoy them together at the table for four (with an expansion for up to six). Then transition into a fun night of board games, thanks to the selection offered in this rental. And when weather allows, gather around the outdoor firepit for some s'mores.
With one bedroom (plus a loft bedroom) and one bathroom, this cozy rental sleeps up to four guests. The bedroom has a queen bed and the loft has a twin daybed that can convert to two twins or a king. The bedroom has direct access to the patio through double doors, and the loft boasts three skylights and a comfortable reading nook. There's also a stacked washer and dryer in the home for your added convenience.
You could very well just stock up on groceries and stay home for a private, uninterrupted break from the daily grind. But if you want to get out and explore, the sand and water are just at the end of a short trail. (Please note that the trail is rugged, so tread carefully and at your own risk.)
This section of coastline tends to be secluded and is particularly great for beachcombing - keep your eyes open for treasures! And of course, the quaint town of Yachats, nine miles north, has dining options, shops, and galleries.
When you want a retreat to rest up and recharge, the Oregon Coast is always an ideal choice. And when you stay in this charming oceanfront rental, you'll be set for a memorable, low-key getaway. Reserve it today!

Location is key! Besides that, it was clean, warm, homey and perfect for our retreat from the beach to the beach! ( I live in Gearhart, OR) Hope we can return soon!!
I hesitate to give this cabin the rating it deserves because I don’t want everyone else to book it when we want to visit. The views are gorgeous, the space is comfortable, and the kitchen has everything we need. The path to the beach is a bit steep (not for everyone). Not a complaint as we had no issues, just the only thing I could caution others about. We’ve stayed here twice and are making plans to return.
My husband and I stayed for two nights in mid-November and loved the location. It has a cabin-feel, is located a short drive out of town, and is up-to-date, sparkling-clean, and very comfortable. Very much enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend renting a crab boat in Waldport and going crabbing, cooking up our catch in the house and enjoying our crab dinner was a highlight of our trip!
The home is small and cozy, has everything to make it comfortable, and the surf is always playing in the background.
Very nice place! Beautiful view.
This cabin is beautiful and the view of the ocean is incredible. Cannot say enough good things about our stay. We would definitely stay here again.
The cabin was perfect for our getaway. The sunsets were amazing. We loved falling asleep listening to the waves crash on the beach. It was a short drive to many attractions and beautiful views. We did not want to leave!!! Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin.
Clean, comfortable and cozy.
We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Shelley Cabin. It felt secluded with its own private access to the beach, but was conveniently located near many coastal sights and hiking trails. The cabin itself was very clean and had a beautiful view of the ocean. We also enjoyed the Netflix access at night while we we lounged (though we had a couple of minor connectivity issues). Overall, we really enjoyed the cabin and appreciate the care the family has taken to maintain such a lovely property.
The private and tranquil setting, practically it's own little paridice with the beautiful beach and tide pools to explore just out of the back door!
The remoteness of the beach setting.
Looking through the looking glass!! This place is amazing for children and adults!! We will be back! The view is amazing a quiet little place for being close to hwy 101. With no cell service be prepared to be off the grid for your stay !! Perfect and great way to reconnect with loved ones we will be back .
Our stay here was just fantastic, we loved the cabin the moment we walked in. The view is amazing, the property was extremely clean and well taken care of, there was plenty of room for our family of 4, and the Roku with Netflix was a nice touch that kept our daughters occupied during downtime.
The walkway down to the secluded beach was great, had a great time exploring the beach. I don't normally write reviews but I felt this property deserved it, it was very clear that the owners put a lot of love and care into this cabin and reading the family history behind it was also really neat, definitely would visit again.
We loved this cabin so much!!! Such a great location with wonderful sunset views and essentially the entire beach to ourselves, made for a wonderful getaway.
The cottage was industrial meets shabby chic .. It had all of the necessary items for relaxation and comfort .. the best part was the views from both picture windows drawing your eyes and ears to the ocean .
We also noted that the welcoming instruction book from the owners was super helpful and thoughtfully presented.. I
highly recommend any amount of time you are able to spend here..
Beautiful views. Loved walking on the private beach. Cabin was clean and beautifully decorated! Would love to come back.
Cottage was so peaceful and had everything we needed! The most beautiful view!

We loved that there was a fairly private beach. The views from the cabin were fabulous, the sound of the waves both soothing and exhilarating. A short drive to many of the Oregon coast highlights ....Cape Perpetua, Devil’s Churn, sand dunes, Darlingtonia State Natural Area, sand dunes, etc etc.
The cabin was perfect for our laid back visit.
It would have been nicer if there was a window to open for some fresh air, but for such a beautiful location, it was not a deal-breaker.
My only complaint would be that the Oregon House in the adjacent lot has a spotlight on the nearby building, that was on every night (for security I assume) and it shone right at the Shelly Cabin, which detracted from the night sky and otherwise remote loveliness of our place. Perhaps they could be contacted and asked to direct the spotlight away from the Shelly Cabin site, if they must have it on all night.
Loved our stay. Thank you. This is the second time we have used Vacasa and are very happy with your service so far.
Everything about this cabin was perfect. Well-designed, great amenities, and a beautiful location!!
We will absolutely be staying here again!!
It rained all weekend, but cabin offered us a great view of the ocean.
Beautiful location to explore Central Oregon Coastline. Cozy cabin perfect for weekend getaway for 2! Secluded beach was serene. Views of Pacific are outstanding and ocean breeze was refreshing. Would come back to Shelley Cabin!
the baseboard heaters are mounted above the windows-this makes no sense-the floor area stays cold and the loft is an oven
Lovely location, fabulous views, and all the amenities and little extras I could hope for. Would most definitely stay there again.
The cabin, view and the entire property is spectacular! My husband and I live in Wisconsin and my daughter and her boyfriend live in Portland and we were all very lucky to be able to stay at this lovely cabin for two nights. We left for a little while to drive the spectacular coastline but couldn’t wait to go back to the cabin. Everything is provided for enjoying meals there, whether you want to eat inside or outside. The view is wonderful wherever you are! We were also blessed with beautiful weather! Thank you for sharing your family cabin!
Cute little house with a scenic ocean view. Close to both Yachats and Florence. Several worthwhile parks nearby including Heceta lighthouse.
This was a fabulous spot. Beautifully spacious yet cozy design in the cabin. The grounds were amazing and the beach access was awesome. Whomever designed the lay out of the cabin is a genius, wonderful details and use of small spaces. Loved it!!!
As many others have shared, the Shelley Cabin is a lovely experience on all levels. Kudos to the owner and teams that continue to keep this gem looking like a gem with all those of us who stay here. We will definitely return and have already recommended to our friends.
Great location with access to quiet, private beach.
Cozy, quiet, clean, comfortable, convenient.
Rain or shine, a place to stay and enjoy the Oregon coast.
Loved lots about this cabin, unfortunately, completely overshadowed by the state of the mattress. A new washer/dryer, but an old, lumpy mattress. A vacation bed should be awesome.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see this mattress did not suit this guest's preferences. This is a difficult area since mattress preferences vary greatly from guest to guest. We will keep this comment in mind. Thanks!
If we had sheets ( and again at 200+ a night I shouldn't be needing to ask for sheets) and the walk out bedroom door had dead bolt or better lock, it would have been a wonderful stay. We liked the home a lot otherwise. It is cozy. We walked to beach. The town of Yachats is now our new favorite on OR coast. Very good food. It had this awesome Vegan friendly cafe - Green Salmon. River roasters coffee shop in Florence was very cute too.
If I had wanted to imagine a perfect cabin, in a wild and gorgeous open setting, close to little towns, but feeling as if we were isolated, this would be the place! The cabin is modern inside and has gorgeous views of the ocean. It has all amenities we needed and more. This is a very special place in an awesome setting.
Secluded, quiet, a slice of heaven on the rugged Oregon Coast.
Sunset views are gorgeous. Very well equipped kitchen except it would be nice to have steamer for veggies. 😊
relaxing and peaceful , would be nice if some of the windows opened for fresh air and hearing the sounds of the waves.
Soooo amazing! We booked this memorial trip for my late brother who had been wanting to take a trip to the ocean for the first time, and never made it before he passed away from a sudden stroke. :( The house was so cute and utilized the space amazingly! It looks so small outside but was SO roomy inside! My mom and her husband and me had plenty of space to be! So tastefully decorated and remodeled perfectly! The fire pit, hammock and outside living space are terrific! The trail to the beach is exhilarating.. a little intense the last 10 feet or so, but I am over 300 lbs and made it so unless you're disabled or up there in age you'll be just fine. You won't regret booking this lovely home! I can't wait to come back and spend more time. ♡♡
Loved the location and the trail to the beach was fun! Although the trail is a little rough, it is easy to manage for young folks. Can't wait to be be back!
The Shelly Cabin made a terrific getaway for our family of three (2 adults and an 11 year old). Away from everything we had a lot of privacy. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves and the wind was perfect for kite flying. The property was as described and very well appointed. The ocean view is spectacular, and we were lulled to sleep by the crashing waves. The Netflix access was a great bonus.
Lovely and unique historic oceanfront cabin with privacy and gorgeous views. Nicely updated and comfortable, about 15 minutes south of Yachats. We found the beach access trail quite walkable; the last few feet requires a bit of clambering but nothing too technical. Lovely beach with interesting volcanic rock. The cabin is well-equipped, no cell phone or cable but there's wifi and Roku with a Netflix subscription. Relaxing and cozy. I was told I could not check in early, so the cleaning service should have had plenty of time to get the place ready, but there were still a few misses. Generally very clean and pleasant, though. The biggest disappointment was that none of the windows opened, so the only way to get fresh air in the cabin was to leave open a French door to the bedroom or living room. Since the cabin is right off the main highway this didn't feel terribly safe.
A very special place. Stunning views, creative and thoughtful design, many small touches, and our own private beach! We cannot wait to get back and toast the sunset once again.
Fantastic cabin in the woods. It was charming, clean and very comfortable. We had a wonderful time while we were there. The only reason I did not give this property 5 stars is that the last 10-15 feet of the trail to the beach is very challenging, steep and very wet from water seeping from above. This meant that when you wanted to walk on the beach you had to get into the car and drive to a different beach.
This house is a little gem. Tucked into the woods you would thing you are miles from anyone...and you might be. We had great time at the Shelley Cabin, but want to point out a couple of things if you have small children. There are not not any window covering so if you go in the summer trying to get to bed before its dark is almost impossible. The trail is rugged, we managed to take kids down one, but after that drove to the beach. Pro/con the house was our of cell coverage (AT&T) it has wifi but if you have one person try and got to the beach they can't call back to the cabin.
Overall we had an amazing trip and the cabin in clean and modern with everything you need. i would highly recommend this to a couple looking to get away, but families with little kids might want something with better beach access, however pubic access beaches are not far, less than 5 minute drive.
Perfect cabin in the woods with beach access. Amazing view of ocean. 5 stars.
Highly recommended. View is very nice. The waves a calling and soothing. You'll fall in love with the little cottage. I did.
We already talked about going back on the drive home, just wished we could stay longer.
