Such a cozy little cottage. Very clean and the perfect size for 2-4 people. Walking distance to restaurants in town. Loved the wood stove! It has a nice little kitchen and updated bathroom. Even though it’s set back a bit from the ocean, still able to enjoy the view of the ocean.
The cottage had everything we needed to be comfortable. It's well maintained and the perfect size for a couple.
Our stay was great. The cottage was very clean, although found some cobwebs and such in obscure corners, but did not bother us. It was way better than expected!
Home was just as described; cozy and clean.
Clean, bright and well appointed in a terrific location. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again. Walking distance to downtown Yachats and its restaurants, shops, etc.. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars would be that it is equipped with a queen bed only and the pull out sofa is, bluntly, uncomfortable. Would in no way prevent us from going back. Again, we loved our stay!!
The cottage is bright even in the fog. The high ceilings and white walls make it seem larger than it is. The setting is very quiet and the ocean can be glimpsed from the many windows.
Great location for walking to Yachats restaurants (don't miss the Bread and Roses bakery or Luna Sea).
We stayed at this cottage for a full week in August 2018; there were two of us. We agree with other reviews that it has such good potential!! The home was recently remodeled and is very attractive on first impression.
However, there are a few issues that should be addressed in order to make a stay here truly enjoyable rather than one filled with minor frustrations.
1. Number one on our list of issues is lack of kitchen window coverings. There is a home next door that is very close and looks down on the back of the cottage and into the kitchen area. There were NO coverings on the huge window above the kitchen sink and none on the back-door window that looks into the bedroom. This is a problem of privacy and security. We actually purchased a plain vinyl shower curtain and taped it above the kitchen window for night-time privacy! All around the rest of the house there are drapes or blinds that can be used. Please do something about the kitchen windows!
2. The newly remodeled bathroom has an excellent shower and sink area. However, the room lighting is EXTREMELY dim and makes grooming very difficult.
3. As mentioned in several other reviews, the master bedroom is quite pleasant and comfortable, but there should be some storage for suitcases; need a dresser and/or luggage racks. It is very awkward to live out of a suitcase if it is always down on the floor.
4. The kitchen is not very well equipped…especially if there would be any more than two guests. There was only one drinking glass and two wine glasses. There is a set of four dishes and several were chipped. There is a set of pots & pans, one small mixing bowl, a nice plastic cutting board and some miscellaneous tools. There is also one non-stick skillet (perfect for omelets), but the handle is very wobbly and may be a safety risk! The kitchen drawers were dirty and stained; these need to be cleaned and lined with shelving paper. The appliances (stove, dishwasher and microwave) all seem OK.
5. The exterior of the house needs a good power-wash. There are cobwebs all along the edges around the house and above the front door. And lastly, there should be instructions and dates for trash pick-up. We were there a week and trash came on Monday morning (very early). But they only took one of the trash bins…not sure when they ever come for the blue recycling bin.
We make these comments in an effort to help the Owners do a better job meeting the reasonable expectations of their guests. Again, the cottage has such great potential. It is nicely located and feels rather spacious for such a small home, the WiFi and TV work great, the bed was very comfortable, and the remodeling that was done greatly improved the house. Just take it up a notch for the convenience of guests!!
We appreciate this feedback. Curtains are being installed above the kitchen sink and blinds are at the back door. There are new dishes for the kitchen, and the owner is going to purchase a dresser for the bedroom. Thanks!
Beautifully updated cottage just blocks from downtown. Vaulted ceilings, great mudroom, quiet neighborhood
This cottage was very clean and neat. It is set up for 4 guests (1 bedroom & 1 fold out couch in living area. Plenty of sheets and pillows. Appliance were all in good working order, Flat-screen TV and internet worked great. The cottage is about 1/4 mile from the south end of Yachats (easy walk -
Great stop for our family of 4. Awesome beach and town access.
The cottage is lovely, well designed, and felt pretty spacious for being small. There is no sound barrier in the space, because to circulate the heat from the wood stove throughout the place, there is a open window high up between the bedroom and the living room. We would have preferred a dresser or suitcase stand in the bedroom to more easily unpack or live out of our suitcase. Otherwise the place was perfect for our needs. And who knew Yachats was such a great town? Not us, until now. Loved it.
We loved how close we were to both the beach and a town!! We went to the green salmon and it was good for both lunch and breakfast! We did lose our babies show on the rocks, but we had a great time!
The cottage is in a great location, is quiet and filled with sunlight. It was very clean and it was easy to reach management with questions that we had.
It was very clean and cozy. Don't expect to have place settings for more than 2 couples. TV has access to Netflix and we watched a lot of movies. No access to the NEWS...which is actually okay since it's been so bad lately. If you're a news junky, you'll have to get it off the internet which works well. Refrigerator still a little noisy, but not bad. There is now a Microwave ! Would stay there again, but wife is an insomniac and I had to sleep in the living room...no second bedroom...
We had a great time. The cottage is well-located, clean, and beautiful.
Just spent a lovely long weekend in this house, and it was very nearly perfect. It's a beautiful house, very nicely kept. Comfy bed, cozy living space. If you are a chef and planning to cook, you will want to bring most of your own kitchen items. The kitchen is great, but a little on the sparse side. But other than that, it's a wonderful place. Oh...and bring some wood and fire fixings so you can fully enjoy the woodstove. We will definitely be staying here in the future.
Love this place! It's perfect in everyway, we'll definitely be back! The location was easy to get to, and very close to the coast. Easy access to beach, tidepools. The house has everything you'll need for a small get away. The fire place was wonderful and very relaxing! The shower was gorgeous, and great for two! This is our new spot.. Can't wait to be back!
This is a sweet cottage that’s just right for a couple. We rented it for five nights as a getaway to celebrate our 25th anniversary, as well as a milestone birthday that happened three days later.
We liked the location of the cottage a lot. It’s on a quiet street just a quarter-mile from the center of Yachats. The cottage appears to have been recently renovated, and it’s very neat and clean inside. It has vaulted ceilings and all the walls are painted bright white. It’s very light and airy inside. There’s a peek-a-boo view of the ocean and the breaking waves from one end of the living room sofa.
All of the rooms, living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom are quite pleasing to the eye. Fixtures and appliances are all new and clean. There’s a stacked, apartment-style clothes washer and dryer next to the bathroom door. There is also a dishwasher. The bathroom has a great shower with shower heads at each end.
Overall, the place is quite comfortable for two people. It’s just the right size, without being too large or too small. There is baseboard heat in the living room and bedroom, but it might not do the job on cold winter nights. The wood stove in the living room will heat the entire cottage nicely. The bathroom has a Cadet wall heater next to the toilet. It heats the bathroom adequately.
There are lots of windows in the living room, dining and kitchen areas, which makes for an open feeling with an abundance of natural light.
We like the physical structure, interior design, and style of the cottage quite a lot. There is even a sizable mudroom with a peg rail for coats and hats just inside the front door, and it can be closed off from the main living area. There is also a small deck outside the front door, but it is right next to the street, and has no view to speak of.
We live in Eugene, and we have been going to Yachats for weekend and extended getaways for forty years. We have stayed in many different places in Yachats during that time. This was our first stay at Trillium Cottage, and overall we liked it a lot, but we feel it does currently have a few negatives.
The refrigerator has a loud, deep humming sound that runs on for long periods of time, and it’s right next to the bedroom door, so the bedroom door has to be kept closed when trying to sleep. One night, we actually wore ear plugs to mute the sound.
The flat screen TV is not connected to cable or antenna, so there is no TV. We watched news and other programs on our laptop computer. The wi-fi is excellent.
For me, the bed is soft. The pillow top mattress is not to my liking because I prefer a firmer mattress.
There is no microwave oven, so everything needs to be heated on the kitchen range, either on a burner or in the oven. Maybe it would be good to take a small microwave with you when you stay here.
There is a wood stove, but no firewood. Bring your own firewood, splitting maul, hatchet, and kindling. Or bring Presto-Logs.
There are only two wine glasses and two coffee mugs, which require washing by hand after each use. Not a big deal, but having half a dozen wine glasses and mugs would be an improvement.
There is no outdoor seating area on the property. No patio chairs; no deck; no patio table. Bring camp chairs, and perhaps a small table.
We would most likely stay at Trillium Cottage again, but we would bring some firewood, a microwave oven, camp chairs, a small camp table. We would hope that the flat screen TV gets a cable connection or an antenna so it can actually be watched. And we would hope that the loud refrigerator would be replaced or repaired. Other than that, it’s a great little place for a couple to relax and enjoy all that Yachats has to offer.
We enjoyed our stay at Trillium Cottage. It’s close to everything in Yachats while still offering privacy to guests. You can see and hear the ocean from the south-facing windows. Lovely!
This little house is a perfect gem for enjoying Yachats. It feels bigger than a one-bedroom unit because of the high ceilings and windows. There is a partial ocean view. I like the fact that it was quiet, comfortable and very close to town. The bed is very comfortable too. The kitchen is ample for those who like to cook and the bathroom has a fancy “two person” shower. Since it was nearly 90 degrees on my first day, having a ceiling fan and windows that opened was great. The internet is a bit slow but functional. (My iPad did better than my laptop.)
What could be improved? For those like me who are staying for a week it would be nice to have either a dresser or enough closet shelf space for clothes instead of living out of a suitcase. Unfortunately, there was no dresser and the top shelf in the closet was full of bedding. The closet also had no hangers. Also a bit puzzling was the fact that both the bedroom and bathroom electric heat worked fine, but not the living room. Neither adjusting the thermostat nor resetting the circuit breaker helped. All of the wall switches are for lights but not heat.
Finally, for those who love to cook, be sure to bring a few items from home like vegetable peeler, spatula, wooden spoons, measure spoons and a medium-sized mixing bowl. Contrary to the instruction sheet sent before my arrival, there was no coffee grinder, no blender and no paper towels. There are teaspoons but no tablespoons.
I really liked this place and , since I came prepared for cooking, I rate this rental “very good.”
Perfect location! Great base camp, everything we needed!
We enjoyed a fantastic few days in this cleverly designed, newly renovated cottage. Walking distance to Yachats and the beach, and a 5 min drive to all the local trails & Cape Perpetua. It was the perfect base for the two of us, and we very quickly felt at home. Would definitely love to return!
We had a lovely time watching the family of deer that visit each evening. Great location, clean and bright- we will definitely be back!
We called it "our home"! It is perfect !
Great small location. A little ocean view. Clean, open kitchen/living room. Very cute!
The TV was tricky to use I couldn't find any freeview TV but the property was beautifully kept and positioned. In the evening we had wild deer in the garden eating the grass. Very modern and clean.
This adorable (small) house was within walking distance from everything to see in Yachats!! The location is convenient and beautiful. The inside of the house was very clean and modern, clearly renovated in the last few years. This home was a great experience for a short weekend trip.
We spent 7 nights at the Trillium Cottage. It was in a quiet area of Yachats, close to the downtown, but with a great view of the mountains and a peek-a-boo view of the beach. We enjoyed the daily visit by a black-tailed doe and her twin fawns. The cottage is very cute, quiet and nicely updated. It has a great shower and queen bed, but the sofa bed was VERY uncomfortable and no blankets were provided for it. There is also no microwave which made it difficult to heat up quick meals, or TV service or DVD player, even though a flat screen TV was provided. The cell phone service was spotty, but the internet was good.
We would rent this cabin again.
Very clean home, easy to cook in kitchen, great location, close to town but very quiet. We enjoyed the small group of black tail deer that made their rounds each morning by the cottage.
This is a great little find on the Oregon coast. The town of Yachats ("Ya-hots") is minutes away by foot with lots of places to get fresh seafood. Plenty of day outings north and south of town from Haceta Head Lighthouse, Sea Lion Caves, and Cape Perpetua State Park to the South and the Newport Acquarium, Yaquina Bay, and numerous beach-front State parks to the North and South. Calming and relaxing!
Lovely, Bright and cheery, clean and neat.
