Love the stay, captain room was great, had an issue with the tv, they sent out a lady that gave us a new tv and the manger fixed it in the am

The Anchor Inn is a fun place to stay, with lots to do nearby plus a short drive to the ocean! Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and beach is very close for sunsets! The sea lions, fishing boats and water birds add greatly to the local color. We will definitely return!

This is a perfect home base for your central Oregon coast adventure! Its located on top of a store/coffeehouse in the middle of the bayfront district. Your window looks right over the bay! Comfortable bed and the decor was perfect. It did feel like you were in the quarters of a captain era 1800’s. Walking to the stores and restaurants was perfect. Will come again

Great location. Great view. Will definitely be back in the future.

The view is amazing. The room is very comfortable, well decorated, and located right in the middle of the historic bay front. Highly recommend.
Arnette K. Apr 2022
Beautiful view of all the activities in the bay-fishing boats, sail boats and wildlife.
Diana Z. Mar 2022
Loved watching the activities on the bay.

This place was wonderful location, sea lions, great food, we were hesitant to stay at this place being so close to sea lions but that was the main reason we chose it, the sea lions were delightful and not a burden at all. We simply turn the fan on in the room and slept like babies. This place is definitely on our list to return it was clean comfortable and super great location only thing wish it had a couple of real coffee cups for morning coffee. We will definitely return again.

We loved watching the sea lions play outside the room. The fishing boats coming and going were great too. Cozy, very clean room.

I love this place! Great location and great view. The sea lions are very noisy. We didn't mind it but if someone is looking for quiet..this is not the place. They are even louder at night.

We really enjoyed our time here. The unit was very clean and lovely, the bed was comfortable, and we enjoyed hot showers with good water pressure. A small coffee maker is provided with plenty of filters, so I recommend bringing your own good coffee (the packets provided are not great). We really enjoyed the sunny patio, the view of the bustling harbor, and watching the boats come and go. It felt so different from any rental we have stayed in before. The parking situation is a bit dicey. We had to park up on the hill once and then go move our car to a closer location in the evening. Other than that, no complaints. It was a fun, bustling setting and a lovely getaway.

We loved the room, the view, and the location. The room was spacious and we got to enjoy the sun on the balcony and a warm fire place at night. The view of the sea lions is absolutely spectacular and worth having to endure their 24/7 opera performance. I wish I knew the language.

The room was decently cleaned but surfaces were not dusted. We ended up having to dust the surfaces ourselves. We noticed that the pot in the coffee machine was also not washed.

There was no communication about the change in room service due to the pandemic. We would have appreciated some sort of updates from the host as we were expecting fresh towels and trash to be taken out. A kind person who was cleaning the vacant room graciously explained to us about the change in room service due to Covid and helped us get fresh towels but otherwise we would have not known this. He absolutely deserves a raise and a vacation.

We would have appreciated more clear communication about the gate and door security codes as they were almost impossible to locate on the web and nowhere to be found in the confirmation email. We ended up having to install the vacasa app in order to access the code which is not ideal as we were in areas with poor service. We would have also appreciated a bit more detailed instructions on the key codes.
Manager response:
Hi Kei, We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. We apologize if you felt the home was not on par with our cleanliness standards. We would have been happy to address any areas in need of additional attention during your stay had we been notified. While mid-stay cleaning service is not an offered amenity, we encourage our guests to use the shared washer/dryer when necessary. We're sorry for the unexpected delay in getting you checked in and for the miscommunication. A check-in email is sent out on the day of check-in with the access codes. Please know that local staff is available to assist with any cleanliness issues you encounter while in the home. We look forward to hosting you again soon!

We like the room pretty well. The sea lions were noisy, but the fan and noise cancelling devise helped.

The condo was very clean and quaint and the balcony overlooked the harbor. The town of Newport is so fun. It was truly an enjoyable experience

We loved the room and location, We did not love the service. The deck was dirty when we arrived. Debris and bird droppings in many places. The room comes with daily refreshing but no one ever stopped any of the four nights and five days we stayed. No garbage takeout, no towel changes etc. I even met Rose when we arrived. She informed me she was the manager of 100 properties in the area. I thanked her for preparing the room for us and gave her a tip to show our appreciation then never saw anyone after that. I wish I could get my tip back among other things. This is the second time we have stayed in a VACASA property in Oregon in the last year. Both stays have had terrible service. Previously we had a home for a week. It had not been cleaned since the last guests left. We could not get ahold of anyone about that. Ended up buying cleaning supplies at the store and spending four hours cleaning so we had a place to stay, including doing laundry of all bedding and towels, etc. Could not get ahold of anyone during the stay. They did address it after we left. The only reason they get three stars is location and condition when we first arrived.
Manager response:
Hi, Aaron! Decks are cleaned regularly, but they don't stay clean along the bayfront as it is a popular area for birds to eat. Being a vacation rental and not a hotel, we do not offer daily housekeeping. Garbage can be taken out by guests or left for us; the bins are located directly outside the main entrance. We respect guest privacy and only bother them when rental policies are being violated and it has been brought to our attention. Thanks!

Ideal location. Loved sitting on the back deck and watching the boats cruise through.

Often when you look at online photos and descriptions it does not represent the property realistically or accurately not the case with this property. We both exhaled a sigh of relief when we got to the property and into our suite. Would stay here again.

The location of this property is amazing. There is an incredible amount of activities and wildlife very close to this property. The sea lions are wonderful, and my favorite part. There is a place below the property that gives whale watching tours. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance as well.
The only thing about this rental that was a problem was vacasa made things more complicated than I felt was necessary. They don’t tell you very much until the morning you leave, but when you are arriving from a distant location it is stressful to depend on them sending you a text the morning of to tell you how to access the building you need. This property had a gate code and room code, and vacasa forgot to send me the gate code the morning of and instead just sent the room code, so I got there and could not get in. When I called they gave it to me, but seemed worried I was not actually me. This was only slightly worrisome, and not too bad, but I travel a lot, and it seemed more stressful with vacasa than other vrbo owners in the past.

Love the location! Very cozy with the fireplace! You’ll use the sound machine and earplugs, both provided to block out the sea lions. Not up to my standards of cleaning (glass doors, mirrors) but I am very picky!
Rhonda D. Oct 2020
Experiencing bay life was fun watching the sea lions, harbor seals, birds and fish jumping in the bay.
Glesty W. Oct 2020
This unit 1 Captain Quarters, was a visit to remember. Time slows down once you arrive. I found my self checking my watch to see if it was stopping on me. Entertainment Is located on your own personal deck. Sea Lion’s are every where, singing & posing for all to see. Crank up there personal supplied wave machine & sleep like you have never slept before...:-) Author, Wrongly Accused The Glesty Waters Story. Best Regards, Glesty Waters

Private relaxing getaway.

Great location!

Had a great time. View and location were fantastic. The booking with Vacasa was as simple as one could ask for. Did this all on line and access to the building and room were on my phone. No key, no card. Simple! The room amenities made me feel at home. Could not have asked for a better stay! We’ll see you again real soon. Thank you

The drive in makes you a little nervous that Newport isn't the quaint coastal town you were hoping for, but once you're on the waterfront the vibe completely changes! Fun dive bars and good food! You're right by the sea lions, so please note they can be quite noisy!
