Cozy, clean, quiet, beautiful ocean view. Nicely decorated and the kitchen is fully stocked. It's like your own private cottage. Not too big and not too small. Would stay again! Thank you for hosting us!

We loved our stay in this nicely appointed, recently updated cottage by the ocean. Vacasa does a great job of taking care of their guests and making sure everything is just right. The kitchen was well stocked with needed equipment, everything was very clean on arrival, and the hot tub is wonderful. The Trinidad area is rich with amazing natural beauty that is so restorative to the soul. It was great to have this comfy cozy place to come back to after our various adventures outdoors. Thank you for making this place available and taking care of everything so well.

We loved our stay at this home, especially hearing the sounds of the surf and the sea lions, and getting to see the resident peacock. We played the games and put together one of the puzzles stocked at the home, and found the kitchen very well stocked. What really set this rental aside was the communication we received - we had very clear instructions on checking in, and checking out, but also regarding a scheduled power outage and how it would affect the power and also the water supply at the house (it's on a well), with an offer for help to provide bottled water or batteries on the day of the outage. They even followed up with a text message to make sure we didn't need anything. It was genuinely thoughtful management of a wonderful property that we hope to return to.

The cabin was adorable! The ocean view & hearing the sea lions was amazing. Can’t wait to go back!

This house has everything you need for a short stay. The layout is great and it’s beautifully decorated. The minute we got there we could hear sea lions. Loved the neighborhood peacock too:). Lots to do and see in the area.

We loved the privacy and the lovely view of the sunsets on the ocean!
Roxanne L.Jul 2021
This beautiful clean little cottage nestled on the bluffs was perfect for our stay. Stocked with everything we needed. The grounds are quiet, serene and gorgeous! The expansive view is hard to beat. The very friendly peacock was a extra added perk!

It is not exactly out of the way, but it is on a quiet street with little traffic. It is very well appointed and decorated. The bed is crazy comfortable. Peaceful.
Kerry H.Jul 2021
Excellent tiny house! The views and location are great. We would love to stay here again!
Mary Ann S.Jun 2021
The cabin was clean, bed was comfortable, kitchen set-up efficient, and hot tub clean. There is nothing like morning coffee in a hot tub with an ocean view. There was a grill but we did not use it.
Kathleen L.Jun 2021
Small, but cozy modernized cottage has a great kitchen and very comfy bedroom. It is perfect for two and maybe 2 1/2. But the grounds are what makes this a stellar experience. Situated on the bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean near a Patrick’s Point State Park, this vacasa experience has location, location, location!

Great little cottage!

Alder cottage was exactly as pictured, immaculate and with lovely finishes. The view of the ocean and hiking in the surrounding area made it hard to leave. Thank you!

This house is beautifully done cabin. Architecturally special, clean and bright. Adirondack chairs on the sloping lawn overlooking the ocean. What’s not to love?

Beautiful views Had an amazing time would love to go back
Sam H.Dec 2020
The house and location is amazing. The grounds are private and quiet. Hot tub clean which is kinda rare. Kitchen great wish It had bigger sink. My only negative comments are there is 1 single pane window behind couch which has black mold and condensation all the time. Not cool when head is there on pullout couch. Second negative is couch needs replacement as seat cushion slides when couch and mattress for pullout is not ok. Table is too big for size of room. Bedroom mattress is firm.like a futon but it was glorious. I slept on both. My kids loved the place and its a mushroom hunters dream. Aminita muscaria upon arrival. I will return and stay in larger unit
Hi, Sam! We are so glad you stayed with us and appreciate your feedback. We do apologize for the mildew issue with the north-facing windowpanes. Due to the home being a historical landmark, it will be quite a process to get the windows replaced, but we are working on it. The sofa bed is repaired and working well. Thank you!

We loved the view! The hot tub was a major plus as we visited in a cooler season. Love the redwoods and all the beauty this area has to offer.
Jeffrey G.Nov 2020
This is a beautiful little cottage overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed the sunsets, full moon and hot tub. It is just a quick jaunt to Redwood National Park with old growth redwoods, elk, fern canyon and the tide pools.

Although over the years we have stayed in close to forty VRBO properties, this was our first experience with a management company and I was somewhat apprehensive as I'm used to dealing directly with the owners. No need to worry. VACASA was terrific. They responded quickly to questions and came immediately when we had a small issue upon arrival. Due to the wildfires in the area creating poor air quality, we were relegated to staying indoor 24X7 the first four days of our week-long stay. Again, no problem, the cottage was immaculate, well appointed and we had lots of indoor activities to keep us busy (puzzles, art projects, reading, movies, etc.) The kitchen is beautiful and beautifully equipped. Great dishes, pots and pans, linens, etc., etc. So why are we giving a 4 rating instead of a 5....Two reasons. 1) My husband enjoys reading when he gets up in the morning and usually late in the evening. The lighting in this cottage is definitely NOT conducive to reading. VACASA did come and replace a burned out bulb for us, but the only lighting in the living/dining area is suspended from a very high ceiling so it doesn't help if one wishes to read. There are lots of windows so if it is a bright day, no problem, but that doesn't help with overcast days or early/late reading needs. Several other reviews have mentioned this shortcoming so the insufficient lighting needs to be seriously addressed. We had to bring the two large lamps from the bedroom into the living room each day so we could read and do art work. 2. The sofa looks great until one sits on it...then the bottom cushions immediately begin to move forward leaving you sitting in a cavity that is most uncomfortable. Putting a throw pillow in the cavity doesn't help...the cavity continues to grow so you are constantly having to stand up and push the cushions back into place, only to have them travel again. And just so you know the sofa is the only seating option for watching t.v. Time for a new sofa??? We loved the location and the charming cottage, and would like to re-book but we could not do so until we were assured these two items had been addressed.
Trinidad itself, which is an all-time favorite, was glorious once were were able to get out and enjoy it. The view from the edge of the cottage property is awesome. Loved the daily afternoon visits from the peacocks and the barking seals. The wood carvings on the property are outstanding. And don't forget to go into town to Trinidad State Beach...free...lovely shaded trail down to wonderful beach. Lots of acventure options within a short distance and sweet shops in Trinidad if you are so inclined.

Beautiful little basecamp for visiting gorgeous beaches that surrounded it and the Redwoods nearby. Everything you need for your stay is provided. The kitchen is well stocked and perfect when you need to cook at home during these Covid times.
Taewon S.Jul 2020
we really had a great time there. Highly recommend this place.
kathleen l.Jul 2020
This freshly decorated cottage was perfect for a 7 day stay for a couple with occasional visits from adult child. The kitchen was well appointed and the hot tub was wonderful. The bluff was perfect for afternoon dozing or sunset views. We love this area and stay for at least a week or longer every summer, but our lodging was so comfortable that we didn't venture out as much as we usually do. We did enjoy and easy bike to Patrick's Point State Park.
Kathryn M.Mar 2020
The house was beautiful and comfortable. From the hot tub we had an amazing view of the ocean. There was peacocks that roamed around during the day and the neighbor had ostriches. Overall, 5 stars from us!
Heather M.Mar 2020
This place is just as described. Clean and tidy! The location is perfect for getting out to see all the beauties of the area. The redwoods and beaches are spectacular. Would definately recommend this to all! Thank you for sharing your property with us. We loved it!

Such a cute little home! Overlooking a beautiful beach. Romantic, secluded, and very clean! 100% would recommend!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at the Alder Cottage. Despite the cold and rainy weather, we were able to explore the Redwoods, coast, and Fern Canyon, and came home to warm up in the hot tub. All of the must-see attractions on our list were an easy drive from the cottage. We loved waking up to the sound of the sea lions, drinking coffee while watching the peacocks, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. We look forward to staying at the cottage again!
This is the most charming and relaxing property we have ever rented. Beautiful view, open, immaculately clean and bright. Absolutely loved it and will return. In fact we didn't want to leave.
Beautiful, Serene, Tranquil rental property, and perfect for our honeymoon. We had an amazing time and the little house was beautiful. The owner was next door and greeted us and told us about a dolphin wood sculpture that was built on the property and where we can sit to see the water better , and food suggestions while we were there as well. He was so nice and the lady on the phone calling me back when we got lost the first night was the nicest especially it being so late. So thank you for everything:)
The alder cottage was beautiful and perfect in every way for our recent honeymoon! Waking up to the sea lions barking was awesome! We enjoyed the hot tub and the breath taking views.
I had a fantastic experience and I highly recommend this property. It was very clean, cute, beautifully decorated and in a perfect location.
We loved our stay at Alder Cottage! The house was the perfect size for 2 people and was the cleanest vacation rental we have ever been to. We had everything we needed. A very nice kitchen and bathroom, plenty of towels, dishes, comfortable bed, and even binoculars for spotting whales. Great location for daily hiking trips to Prairie Creek.
Alder cottage was the perfect place to stay to stay for our redwood vacation. The cottage is very clean, well appointed, and in a great location. We were able to see redwoods, as well as enjoy local beaches. The cottage was a perfect size for our family of three and the ocean view is spectacular! Only issue we had was neighbors loud peacocks the first night. Hope to visit again.
Everything was perfect. It's was immaculately clean. Perfectly decorated and situated. Highly recommend and we will be back.
This place was awesome. Great view, private, they provided all that was needed
We loved this place. It looks like it was remodeled yesterday. Everything is pristine. We used it as a base to explore Redwood National Park. Make sure you go into Trinidad and look around. Very cute town with fantastic food and ice cream at the Lighthouse Grill! Make sure, however, that you don't get confused by the street house numbers as we did. Pull down the driveway to the right of the wood fence and there you will find your rental. it is so close to the ocean you can hear the sea lions!
We came to Trinidad for our 25th Anniversary to celebrate by visiting the Redwoods. This little cottage is nestled near several parks and only about an hour from Avenue of the Giants. The cottage kitchen is well equipped. The bed is a bit firm but still comfortable. The living area is nice but we didn't spend a lot of time here due to being out in the trails and visiting the surrounding areas. Don't be surprised when you see peacocks at the cottage. We had 6 visit us during our stay. I highly recommend this cottage. It was very comfortable and close to many parks and scenic areas. My only cautions are: 1. The hill down to the overlook is pretty steep. 2. Laundry is about 15-20 miles away. 3. The road from the cottage to Trinidad is very rough. I'd opt for Hwy 101 instead. 4. Murphy's Market is closest grocery store. I recommend the twice baked potatoes you have to bake from the deli. Delicious. I highly recommend this little cottage for anyone looking to stay near the redwoods national and state parks.
We enjoyed our stay in Northern Calf and the eclectic town of Trinidad. We enjoyed tranquil nights in the cabin and adventure in the Redwood Parks. The cabin was fantastic. The staff responded to a request on Mothers Day. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had all we needed. We were delighted with a visit from 6 peacocks.
Very clean, quiet, lovely location in a well designed and appointed one-bed cabin. Cozy and charming. Easy access to Trinidad, Arcata and the Redwood National Forest.
It was very clean with nice finishes. It ended up being in the middle of everything we wanted to do on our trip (Redwoods and shopping), but definitely requires a bit of a drive to Arcata that has more shops and bars. The only thing that was a little disappointing is there is a house directly in front that obstructs the view. When looking at the birds eye view, I thought we were the house closest to the water, but that was my mistake. Overall, I loved the place and would definitely stay there again.
Great size for the two of us. Plenty of natural light. The fees could be clearer. Some mold on north side windows that could be replaced. Otherwise clean and Overall a good experience.
Absolutely a gem!! Perfectly appointed and in a great location. Such attention to detail. I'd move in permanently if I could.
The cottage was delightful. Great furnishings and décor. Nice set up with fold-out couch; big table, big enough kitchen - with high quality pots/pans and dinnerware. Well-designed bathroom with door leading to directly to bedroom as well a door off the kitchen. Cool barn door for bedroom 'door'. Gorgeous bedroom with beams across a cathedral ceiling and comfortable king-size bed and nice bedding. We used the grill twice and enjoyed the patio as we listened to the sea lions bark. We walked down to the chairs near the edge of the property to enjoy a beautiful sunset one night. I would have given this location 5 stars but the neighbor's dogs did bark at us a lot when we were anywhere near them but they looked friendly enough. Eventually, the humans came out and quieted the dogs down. Great instructions, directions, and little extras like the wonderful cookies and coffee. It worked out very well for us. We did have some trouble with the kitchen lighting - very dark even with all the lights on; and we couldn't find an outside light switch. However, I probably should have called the mgmt. team about the outside light - my fault that I didn't; just too busy enjoying everything else.
The photos don't do the Alder Cottage justice - it's very well appointed and we felt very welcomed. We loved our stay and really appreciated the thoughtful goodies from local sources. The bed was very comfortable and there were plentiful towels, linens, throws, etc. Every detail was very well thought out.
We found this cottage to be clean, roomy, and well-appointed. Everything was in good working order. The patio area outside was lovely. The setting is very nice and the location is great for touring the area.
We had a delightful stay at Alder Cottage. The location was superb for what we wanted to experience. The place was very clean, had all the appropriate amenities. The bed was comfortable and having a well appointed kitchen was perfect for us. The communication was perfect. We loved sitting out at sunset watching the whales and sea lions. We also really enjoyed walking through the state park. I would recommend this property to everyone.
Our rental was even better than expected. It was easy to find and nicely decorated with modern fixtures and appliances. The views of the ocean were amazing!
The location was phenomenal. The most beautiful sunset I've seen in years. The location was nicely between seeing Fern Canyon, Red National Park Herds of Elk to the north. The beautiful beaches of Trinidad, Moonstone and Clam Beach to the south. Not to forget easy access to fine dining. The cabin was outstanding. Detailed carpentry. Decor was very inviting. The bed was wonderful. We would stay again in a heartbeat. The service we received from the management company was efficient and courteous.
