What a lovely home!
We had such a nice stay and enjoyed the beautiful view of the backyard
A few deer would come by for a visit!
Would stay again if we get the chance!

We loved the location (1/2 way between Cannon Beach and Long Beach). We loved the spaciousness, the cleanliness, the beautiful yard, and the wildlife going through it ( lots of deer and one raccoon!)

We had a wonderful stay at Dot's Spot. The house itself and backyard were so cute. Everything was clean and exactly as described. Quick walk to the beach. We were even greeted by a deer family every evening at sunset. Response to our requests were immediately addressed. We loved it here and would highly recommend to anyone looking into staying!

We were looking for a quiet, private house near the beach and this was the perfect spot! We could not have asked for a cleaner house - the cleanest we have ever rented. The beach was beautiful, rather secluded (it was August!), and just a short walk/stroller ride away! (Our 2 year old grandson was in paradise!) We've already talked about coming back to this 5-star location!

Dot’s Spot was perfect for our group of 5. Everyone had plenty of space. We especially enjoyed wildlife viewing, from the hummingbird feeder at the window, multiple butterfly bushes, to several visiting deer. We drove on Sunset Beach during evening low tide and spotted a herd of 9 elk grazing on the dune grass. The house itself was excellent for cooking. We used the grill (the self ignition button seems to be missing so we used a lighter). The chiminea provides a great place to prepare S’mores. We covered the incredible picnic table with newspaper and enjoyed our own “crab pot” style dinner. I used the jacuzzi twice which was a treat. Everything was nice and clean (I meant to leave a tip for the housekeeper but got distracted and neglected to do so.) I would like to return in May or June when the rhododendrons are blooming!
Manager response:
Hi, Lily! It sounds like you had a wonderful stay, and we love to hear that. The BBQ ignitor will be repaired. Thank you!

Great location. Enough space for everyone to relax. Tasteful decor. Everything you need. We highly recommend this home.
Carol P. Jul 2022
The home is so well taken care of, we enjoyed having a variety of seating areas to relax and watch the deer come through the backyard. Great location, close to the beach and is very private with all the trees along the edges of the property.

We couldn't be more happy with our stay! The house was even better than in the pictures! It was super clean and had lots of space. The kitchen is stocked with all of the tools you could possibly need. The backyard is absolutely gorgeous! (Make sure you bring your mosquito repellant.) We even had a doe and her baby visit in the yard. The beach is just a short walk down the road. Can't wait to plan our next trip!

Loved this house. Everything was so comfy and perfect. I’ve never been on tile floors that felt so nice. Our 2 yr old loved running around the open areas. Great layout. Felt way bigger than 2000 sf.

Great vacation rental with lots of space. Definitely very clean and comfortable. Beautiful inside and out. Conveniently close to the beach, but yet private. Will rent again in the future. Highly recommend!
Made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable!

Our group of 5 friends felt so comfortable and at home in Dot's Spot, within a short walking distance to the Pacific Ocean. Well furnished and relaxing atmosphere of this plush coastal retreat. Can't wait to return!

Called a sanctuary in the home's description, this really is a great place to escape the world; it's fairly isolated, very quiet, spacious, immaculately clean, and about a quarter-mile to the beach. We all had enough space to not intrude on each other. Beautifully appointed in a nautical theme.
Tami P. Oct 2021
We loved this home! Very clean and well decorated. Perfect location right between Astoria and Cannon Beach. Easy walk to the beach and a coffeee stand. Well stocked with everything we needed. Deer come through the back yard on a regular basis!

After doing more than 30 rentals, I have to say that this one was one of the best. We spent four nights there August 16-20, 2021 and had an awesome time. This place is EXACTLY what the photos on the website show. Big, spacious, roomy...all good words to describe this rental. Place was immaculate when we arrived. They had figured out there was a problem with the electronic door lock before we got there and called to give us a new code as we drove down. They texted later to make sure we had not had any problems.

We got in right a 4:00 after stopping for groceries at the Walmart (about a 5 minute drive away along with a Costco and Fred Meyer) but we would advise waiting until you get in and see what is available already. We have never had such a well stocked kitchen. The only thing we wish we had bought were coffee filters. Hope they get some more soon and the right ones. Other than that, we had everything.

We saw deer walk across the back yard every day. Sometimes twice a day. It was a longer walk to the beach than we thought it would be. But no big deal. About half a mile. We were also disappointed that bakery that you can see from the driveway was closed Wed and Thurs but I am just saying that to let future renters know.

We had read in these reviews that the beds were bad and sagging. Either they replaced them or they had their rentals mixed up. Beds were just fine. TV was great, games and puzzles galore and so much to do nearby. If you go into Seaside we can recommend Ruby's Roadside Grille for the food but not much for the ambience. Service was also excellent. Skip the aquarium. It was old and sad. The seals you get to feed are funny but it's sad to see them like that. We did Captain Kidd's Amusement park and liked the way you could by the rides ala carte. Our kids/grandkids just did the go-carts and LOVED THEM! We also did the Swan Boats on the river but that just gave me a back ache.

All in all, this is a GREAT rental except for the hidden costs. You need to know before you get excited about it that the total of taxes and fees was almost $800 which made the total price per night $556 which is outlandish. I know there is nothing they can do about the taxes but the fees were ridiculous. That's only reason we would not come back. Everything else was great.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. We apologize for any confusion regarding the price of the reservation. The costs of all our homes are reflected directly on the listing and throughout the checkout process for transparency upon booking. Additionally, we have agents available 24/7 to assist with finding the best possible vacation rental for each guest's needs and budget. We encourage guests to reach out with any questions or concerns before booking, as we are happy to help.

We loved the big kitchen! Had every utensil you would have in your own home. Enough dishes and glasses for everyone for 2 meals before you needed to wash. So clean. We loved it here. If we ever get a chance we would be back in a heartbeat.

Great place !
Teresa R. Jul 2021
This was our 2nd stay at Dot's Spot. The layout of the house, the spaciousness and the easy location to beach access all make this place Awesome. The rooms are beautifully decorated and higher end feel.
A vacation is a place you get extra sleep and relaxation. The only issue we have with the house is a very important one. We brought our Elderly parents here and picked this house specifically because it was the most practical for Elderly folks. The huge drawback is the beds. Not just one but all. The queen size bed sags so much in the middle they were constantly trying to not roll into each other. Being Elderly and with Need of good back support due to age the bed failed miserably. Rest was not adequate and pain in back and legs made trying to get down to beach and then sit was difficult. The king size master bed was not much better. I'm still having pain and back spasms from the extreme sag due to deep body impressions in mattress. The twin beds were also very uncomfortable.
We love the house but hate the beds. Unless the beds are upgraded we will have to find a different place for next summer. We had hoped the beds would have been replaced. That is why I only gave it 3 stars. And that is being generous. When you are in pain and not able to rest you really ca not enjoy the vacation
Manager response:
We appreciate you choosing to stay with us, Teresa. After the homeowners read their review, they came to the house and replaced all of the mattresses with brand new. We hope you'll return to see the difference!

Dot's Spot was one of the best vacation rentals we've had. It was very clean and had all the nice touches of a home away from home. Deer came wandering into the yard several times during our stay. The beach was very close. We had a great time. It will definitely be high on our "return list."
Heidi M. Jun 2021
House was beautiful. Close to the beach and close to plenty of shopping and area attractions without all the traffic and people congestion. Lots of indoor space for people to spread out. A few hiccups with the property, but all in all, it fit our needs. (Hiccups meaning LOTS of mosquitos so we couldn't enjoy the outdoor area during the evening-yard spray can help with this, door code didn't work upon our arrival, but Vacasa answered our call and gave us the code to a back up key location, one neighbor had two bouts of shouting profanities, there was no welcome packet-I would have liked a little more information about the property. It would be nice to have beach items available so people don't have to purchase them.) Nothing that would prevent me from renting this location again, just nice to have a heads up as to what to bring/buy upon arrival (yard spray, additional beach towels, beach accessories, etc.)
Jaime M. Jun 2021
I realize this sub-5 star review is an outlier. The house IS nicely appointed and the kitchen is large. But the moment we walked inside, we were assaulted by mosquitoes, and it continued until we left. Maybe the cleaner left the door open? We have no idea, but it made our stay pretty uncomfortable. We also had issues with the hot water handle for the tub falling off, as well as a couple of the crank levers for the windows.

There was no guest book to recommend places to eat or where to buy groceries or ANYthing. We wish we could've been better informed. (We had come from Maryland, so if you're staying here as a local getaway, perhaps you won't need this.)

Plusses were that it was clean, large, bed was comfortable, and I'm sure it's very well-suited for big groups of people.
Manager response:
Hi, Jaime! The hot water handle and window cranks will be replaced. We do apologize if any mosquitoes snuck in through the open windows while cleaning. Thank you for staying with us!

We absolutely loved Dot's Spot! Perfect size for our family, perfect quiet location, and all the right amenities. Very clean (and I'm a nurse, so I'm a picky cleaner). We hope to return to this location multiple times.
Christi S. Apr 2021
My friends and I loved this home, location and everything about it. Close to Cannon Beach, Seaside and Astoria with beach access less than a mile down the street. Home was immaculate and very stylishly decorated. Beds were very comfortable. All the amenities you’d expect were top notch, from a very quiet dishwasher to brand new soaps at every sink. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Britney M. Apr 2021
This vacation spot was stunning! Secluded area with wildlife all about, yet relatively close to Astoria and cannon beach. The home was amazing with a fully stocked kitchen and open concept living space. Highly recommend!
Patrick M. Apr 2021
Pretty awesome house for our three generation family vacation. Plenty of room for everyone and a great layout. The house is very well maintained inside and out, big kitchen and dining space too. We loved it!
Olivia H. Feb 2021
We had a rental house in Seaside for 10 years that we have since sold, so we know how hard it is to keep up a rental.
The photos of Dot's home do not disappoint. Our 6 gals all enjoyed our stay so much and one even took measurements of the rooms to use in her dream home build. There is nothing missing in this house. It is gorgeous, inviting, warm and beyond my imaginations. I've stayed in dozens of Oregon beach rentals and this one is THE BEST ever. I hope to get to enjoy it again one day.
Thank you Dot for trusting your show home to strangers and please know we appreciated it and treated it as if it was our own. If you ever want to sell your home... please let me know ;) LOVED IT!
Kim M. Nov 2020
Our stay was top notch. The house was clean, well furnished and in a very beautiful spot. We found it lacking for nothing. We had a great, relaxing time.
Larry D. . Jul 2020
I can't believe Dotty allows strangers to stay in this incredible property. It's quiet, secluded, and an absolutely beautiful home. My wife and I along with her parents go every year to this area and this is without a doubt the most beautiful home we've stayed in. From the Indian with the bikini (so cute!) to the deer playing in the back yard (they are darn near tame), it's just amazing. Thank you Dot for generosity. We will be back!!
Justin . Jul 2020
Our family loved this house. Plenty of room for 3 kids, very clean, close to the beach and amazing space. Highly recommend. Company was great to work with.
John O. . Jun 2020
This was a wonderful place to stay. I have stayed in many VRBO's and this one was the best!
Jean K. . Jun 2020
Everything about this property was top notch and every person I spoke with was more than helpful. I wish that this property was available every time I came to the Oregon Coast!
Bruce B. . Mar 2020
Very clean and comfortable. Quiet and close enough to walk to a most beautiful beach. I highly recommend staying here, even in the current days we are in.
Dan L. . Jul 2018
Beautiful home with great beach access, wildlife viewing, and a short drive into town.
