Waterfront, Dog-Friendly House w/Free WiFi, Water Views, Central AC, Private W/D

Very cool, waterfront Camp Tahuna calls from its oceanside location! This easily accessible, single-story home has been remodeled in a saltwater sportsman’s theme and lies center stage along the Hatteras village waterfront. In fact, should you want to bring a boat, a deep water boat slip is available for an additional charge. The property has a picnic table to enjoy your daily catches and a large, covered entrance porch offers unforgettable sunsets. The entry has a convenient washer dryer corner. The combination living, kitchen, and dining areas are perfect for intimate dining or entertaining. The kitchen has Corian and butcher block counters and the necessary appliances. Rich hardwood floors and pine walls are decorated with fishing trophies. A one-of-a-kind, half-size stern of a sportfishing boat has been made into the best bar on the island. Comfortable leather furniture complete the living area with a large flatscreen TV.

The first and second bedrooms both have twin-over-double bunk beds. A full hall bath with a shower/tub combo is conveniently close to both bedrooms. The third bedroom has a twin-over-double bunk and a full bath with a soaking shower/tub combo. The beach access is just a short drive away. Bring bikes and a golf cart, because Hatteras Village is golf cart and pedestrian-friendly. (Visit AS Austin for your beach gear, kayak, and golf cart rentals, and mention Camp Tahuna to receive a small discount!) Fresh fish and shrimp are available in season almost next door. Top of the line restaurants and shopping are just around the corner. The slip is just doors down from Oden's Dock which leads out to Hatteras Inlet. You can't beat this Hatteras Village location!

Great marina house! Loved the local vibe to it. Loved it all together! I’ve been coming here for 30yrs, this house gave me my all time BEST sunset views, from the porch, ever seen!!!! Great house! I can’t lie though, waking up with a boat in the living room def gave it a comical twist of “did I drink last night? Where am I?” …. We all had that hilarious moment! GREAT HOUSE! The boat was the bar/island in the house! Loved it! ❤️❤️❤️. As always house service was fabulous!

Brought our baseball team out to fish and unwind. Stayed here and one other home. House AC blew Cold and all enjoyed their stay.

We rented this home because it is advertised as being pet friendly and we have 2 dogs. The interior of the house is just as pictured and we found the home to be very clean and it was perfect for our dogs. The outside of this house is not just as pictured. It is very trashy. Directly behind the house is a fishery of some sort that you cannot see in the picture, not sure if it was cropped out of photo or what? Anyhow it is unsightly and there is old fish netting laying out. There is a lot of traffic coming in and out of the fishery at night. I guess fish being delivered and picked up. In addition to this there is a boat that takes scuba divers out that docks behind the house. The house shares a drive with this dock so there is traffic and parking for this in front of the house. The lot directly across from the house is unsightly and unmaintained and there are wild cats running around everywhere. As long as you are ok with all of these items on the exterior, the interior of the house is great.

Roaches, dryer/outlet/WiFi doesn’t work. Lots of traffic and feral cats. Yard maintenance has not been done all year. Air conditioning and hot water works well.
Manager response:
Pest control has been to the home to handle the cockroaches, and the homeowner has addressed the dryer and WiFi. Thanks, Kristine!

The property outside is dirty. There was garbage left by the stairs to enter home. The fenced in yard area was overgrown and picnic table upside down and broken. The charcoal grill was in a shopping cart and we needed to replace the grate before using it as it was rusty. Inside the rental looked nice but the master bathroom tub had black mold. We found several big cockroach bugs and even brought some home without knowing. Found them in our shoes. The refrigerator froze the food that was close to the back and we had to throw away produce and fruit because of it. We did laundry and tried to dry it but even after 3 hours it still wasn't dry. We had to only put 2 or 3 items in at once. Electric outlets didn't work and wifi also didn't work. We called to have it fixed and someone came to fix it but didn't. I had to tether to my phone's hot spot to work as I am on call all the time. That was very inconvenient. The property wasn't worth the $3000 or so we paid for it. The location is fantastic and with some TLC could definitely be a hot spot. IF all of the above were addressed we would definitely book again but at this time we rebooked for next year at a different property. We took pictures to back all of this up.
Manager response:
Thank you for choosing to stay with us. The garbage cans should have been taken to the road for pick-up, and we apologize staff missed this. We are hoping for a grill replacement soon. Housekeeping has cleaned the mildew in the tub, pest control is scheduled, and maintenance is taking care of the WiFi and dryer.

I will start with the positives. The house is in a GREAT location. Just a short walk away was a grocery store, restaurants and other things (like jet skis and marinas). We brought our golf cart and we could drive everywhere in Hatteras Village. The dock is basically in your backyard. We would take daily walks and you could fish right of the dock. The beach is a short drive away (either on your golf cart or vehicle). The beds, showers, AC were all great too.
The bad: The house is old and needs a lot of TLC. The WIFI never worked, about half of the outlets did not work, half of the stove works and the clothes dryer does not work. There is only one closet, so there is not enough places to store clothes (ex. dresser) for 6 people. We left our clothes in our suitcases.
I would stay here again, but just for the location.
Manager response:
Hi, Kristal! The stove, dryer, and WiFi have all been verified as working. We will discuss your other concerns with the homeowner so we can look at solutions. Thank you!

This house is dark, damp, and dirty and we killed about a dozen roaches and spiders inside the home during our stay. There was a bin with plenty of clean linens, which came in handy when the rain was leaking into the house through the kitchen ceiling. This house is located on the sound side directly next to a fish company. There were vehicles and large trucks, as early as 4:15am, coming to and from the fish company, as well as a running generator that could be heard all night (and day) long. The outside shower that is supposedly "being upgraded" is non-existent, and the enclosed yard is covered with weeds and overgrown brush that the yard cannot be used. The driveway to the home is also the access to boat slips and there were cars coming and going in order to access the boats. I gave the house two stars because the AC and hot water worked really well. If you are looking for a place to hang out and relax, this is not the home for you. If you are looking for a place to crash because you are getting up early to fish, maybe, although I think it is overpriced for that and you can get a hotel room down the dock.
Manager response:
Thank you for telling us about your stay, Timothy. The home has been professionally treated, the sink leak is repaired, yard work is completed, and we have removed the outdoor shower from the listing. We hope to see you again!
