Find a quaint rental hideaway near Lake Anna in the small town of Bumpass, Virginia. This little corner of the Lake Anna area provides great access to the lake and all its activities. This beautiful region is a popular escape from New York City, at just over 300 miles away (about 5 hours driving time). Besides boating, swimming, and all the lake has to offer, Bumpass is known for its wineries, so be sure to schedule some time for wine-tasting while you’re here. From Bumpass, it’s an easy drive to Spotsylvania, Ruther Glen, and Mineral, home to wineries, restaurants, and plenty of small-town charm. No matter where you’re visiting from, a Bumpass, Virginia vacation home is your spot to relax and enjoy the lake life.

We enjoyed the game tables, catch and release fishing from the dock, grilling, the hot tub, and a little kayaking. Be prepared to put in some elbow grease, and bring some cleaning products; a lot of the things that stay outside all the time like Adirondack chairs on the dock and the kayaks were filthy and we had to scrub them. As well as the dishes not being clean overall. Hopefully the master bed mattress will be replaced as it is very uncomfortable. Bathrooms mostly have poor lighting, very very dim. Bring your bug spray and some yard fogger spray to get a break from the bugs especially once it gets dark out. The WiFi worked great and Instacart will deliver if you’re not up for running to the store, just be patient with the time because it is a little ways out there for the shoppers. Vacasa provided little courtesy boxes with a little bit of laundry detergent, dish and dishwasher soap, and sponges in them. I also wasn’t expecting the amount of toilet paper or paper towels provided, but we mostly used our own TP due to preference. The tiki bar is dilapidated and needs to be taken down, and the sandy beach area is full of sink holes from a bad washout at some point but hopefully the holes will be remedied timely as we did let them know about it being a safety hazard. Lastly if you’re going to rent a place like this, even if not this one, clean up after yourselves!! The cleaning service isn’t checking each dish you put away dirty or scrubbing the inch of grime you leave on the grill grates- be a respectful guest because ultimately whatever nastiness you leave that doesn’t get noticed is a burden for the next guests.
