Incredible Home w/Private Sauna, Large Wrap-Around Deck, Fireplace, Pool Table

Welcome to beautiful Sahuaro Place also known as "Big Ed's Cabin," which was built 50 years ago as a refuge from the Phoenix heat for his large family. Much of the house contains the original furniture, including the great room dining table and the 13 Arcadia glass doors. The hexagon-shaped home is situated on a cul-de-sac and is flanked by the small canyon and tall pines, which offer much privacy. The home is surrounded by a 3,000+ sq. ft. deck that wraps almost all the way around the home. This deck offers plenty of seating options (beach chairs included), an outdoor dining area for six, a gas grill for family barbecues, and wonderful vistas of the surrounding nature.

The great room is located right in the heart of the home with wood accents made from pecky cedar. It's subdivided into many entertaining areas. Snuggle up in front of the wood-burning fireplace, which features and Arizona red onyx. You will have plenty of sofa options to choose from, or cozy up in the sectional to watch your favorite shows on the flatscreen TV.

The full-size pool table offers endless entertainment; challenge your friends to a billiards tournament and show them who is boss! The nearby four-person round table is conveniently located near a wood stove to keep you all nice and warm while playing board games, card games, or doing puzzles. When it comes to relaxation, this home is unbeatable. You will discover an indoor redwood sauna bath with a removable window covering, which provides an outdoor view off the deck. The sauna bath can accommodate from six up to eight people.

When mealtime comes around, the fully-equipped kitchen has your back. Discover all major appliances, cookware, and utensils needed to whip up tasty meals, comfort food, snacks, and everything that comes to mind. It even includes double ovens for added convenience and two coffee makers for coffee enthusiasts (Keurig and Mr. Coffee maker).

You can choose between the dining room bench table that seats approximately 14 people or the kitchen dining bench table that seats six people. There are oversized sliding doors in each bedroom. There are five bedrooms and three bathrooms, making this home ideal for large families and groups of friends.

My family lost three family members in the last year and a half, so we wanted to create new memories and Sahuaro Place was perfect for us. The two kids were thrilled with their rooms and loved the entire property. The two adults were grateful for the well-equipped kitchen which made preparing Thanksgiving dinner a no brainer. And last but definitly not least, the fabulous fireplace with a huge stock of firewood. Thank you for the wonderful memory.

This is a beautiful house and grounds but, on the inside it looks to be 50 years old as advertised. One of the arcadia doors didn't have a screen, one had a screen that wouldn't stay in it's track and the one in the master bedroom required two people to hold he screen and pull the door to lock which was very difficult to pull on the track. Most, if not all the arcadia doors showed the dirt and wear and tear of 50 years. The bathroom off the master bedroom needs a hand rail as the shower/tub is 2 feet to get over into the tub - elderly people would not be able to use it. The kitchen had two windows but only one had a screen. There were ants in the kitchen, the stove has seen better days, the refrigerator had packing tape(?) across the top of the door (to keep it closed?) and the dishwasher requires some fumbling about to get the latch to stick. The carpet has a lot of stains and the outside umbrella (for the table and chairs) won't work as the umbrella base is pretty much useless.

The tile around the conversation pit is gorgeous, and it would be nice to sit around that in the winter when snow is falling. The deck is nice and the surrounding scenery is beautiful, but you do hear the traffic on I17 though.

The booking agent (not vrbo) did not respond in time for us to bring our dogs (they indicated on one of the emails that it was not dog friendly) which I didn't notice until the day before we were to leave. We had to have our son take time off work to watch our dogs at home. (I did receive a reply the day after we were there). I won't book another property if I notice it is handled by vacasa.

We really enjoyed our trip. The house was very clean. And unique and cozy! We enjoyed the deck, the pool table, sauna, and card table. Truly a great place to unwind. The beds were comfy too
