Make West Dover your next getaway

West Dover is easiest to plan around Mount Snow first, then the quieter Deerfield Valley options that keep the trip from feeling ski-only. Add Timber Creek Cross Country Ski Area, The Valley Trail, or Snow Republic Brewery when you want a slower snow day, an easy walk, or a casual evening close to the resort corridor.

Recent West Dover guest reviews

Apartment is right next to the Carinthia slopes. A 100 foot walk to the small carpet. If it’s not working it’s a 800 foot walk up to the lodge and main lift. Unit is fairly dated and the kitchen is a bit difficult to use with its layout but it is functional. Apartment was clean. The heater fan in the public laundry room right next to the bedroom kicks on at night often when it’s cold.

Had a great time house was amazing! No complaints at all.

The cabin was perfect for a ski trip to Mount Snow. A very peaceful mountain cabin with many sleeping options including 3 bedrooms and loft area. Plenty of dining options within 10 minutes of the cabin making it a convenient location, while also having a full kitchen to use. Several fans to use for sleeping if you like white noise. Would stay here again!

Plan your West Dover getaway

West Dover vacation rentals work well for travelers who want a Mount Snow base camp with ski days, summer mountain weekends, Nordic trails, golf, and casual après-ski close by. Families, couples, groups, and winter travelers can plan around Mount Snow Resort, Timber Creek Cross Country Ski Area, Mount Snow Golf Club, and The Valley Trail, then save Wilmington or Bennington-area outings for separate day trips.

As you compare homes, think about whether you want to stay close to Mount Snow, near Route 100 dining, or in a quieter setting with space for ski gear and relaxed evenings. Each home is unique, so review listing details for parking, kitchens, pet policies, WiFi, laundry, fireplaces, hot tubs, gear storage, and seasonal access notes before you book.

Things to do in West Dover

Looking for things to do in West Dover, VT? Start with Mount Snow, then add Nordic skiing, golf, trail time, and an après-style brewery stop that keep the trip grounded in the West Dover area.

Mount Snow Resort

Mount Snow Resort is West Dover’s signature mountain anchor, with ski terrain in winter and mountain activities when the snow melts. It’s the clearest starting point for first-time visitors and mixed-season travelers using West Dover as their home base.

Best for:

Timber Creek Cross Country Ski Area

Timber Creek Cross Country Ski Area gives West Dover visitors a quieter winter option on groomed Nordic terrain. It works well for groups with both downhill skiers and travelers who want a slower-paced snow day away from the lifts.

Best for:

Mount Snow Golf Club

Mount Snow Golf Club gives summer and fall visitors a mountain-view activity still connected to the resort experience. It’s a strong fit for couples or groups planning a warmer-weather weekend that balances outdoor time with relaxed resort-area downtime.

Best for:

The Valley Trail

The Valley Trail connects local recreation areas and gives visitors a simple way to add a walk, run, or bike ride to the trip. It’s a low-commitment outdoor option for travelers who want fresh air without building the day around a bigger hike.

Snow Republic Brewery

Snow Republic Brewery is a West Dover brewery with a casual après-ski feel and a social atmosphere for groups. Use it as a late-afternoon or evening activity after a day on the mountain, trail, or golf course.

Where to eat in West Dover

West Dover dining is best planned around the Mount Snow base area and Route 100. The resort base works well for convenient ski-day meals, slopeside drinks, and après-ski stops, while Route 100 is the main local dining spine for taverns, casual après-ski meals, and relaxed dinners near lodging and the resort corridor.

Nearby downtown Wilmington adds cafes, taverns, and walkable village dining when you are willing to leave West Dover for a Deerfield Valley outing. If you prefer relaxed meals at your rental, check each listing for kitchen setup, dining space, outdoor seating, grill details, and parking, since features vary by home.

Two Tannery Road

Two Tannery Road is a long-running West Dover restaurant in a historic inn setting, suited to travelers looking for a more composed dinner after a mountain day. It works well for date nights, adults-only meals, or special occasions rather than quick après-ski.

The Last Chair Bar and Grill

The Last Chair Bar and Grill is a casual West Dover bar and grill with an après-ski personality. It’s a relaxed post-slope option for families and friend groups who want an easy social meal close to Mount Snow.

West Dover local tips

Day trips from West Dover

West Dover makes a practical Southern Vermont base for nearby village browsing, historic landmarks, cultural sites, and lake-and-woods outings. Plan these as separate half-day or full-day trips, and check current hours, tickets, road conditions, and seasonal access before you go.

Historic Downtown Wilmington

Historic Downtown Wilmington gives West Dover travelers a walkable village outing with local shops, restaurants, and a different pace from the Mount Snow corridor. It’s the easiest nearby town add-on for dining, browsing, and a change of scenery.

Bennington Battle Monument

Bennington Battle Monument marks the Battle of Bennington with a landmark Vermont historic site. It’s a strong heritage-focused Southern Vermont day trip for travelers who want Revolutionary War history beyond ski and trail activities.

Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home

Hildene in Manchester is the former Lincoln family estate, with a preserved house, garden, and grounds that feel distinct from West Dover’s resort setting. It works well as a polished cultural day trip for travelers interested in history, gardens, and a slower itinerary.

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Woodstock combines conservation history, managed landscapes, and preserved estate grounds. Treat it as a longer day trip for travelers who want a nationally recognized site rather than another mountain or lake stop.

Townshend Lake Recreation Area

Townshend Lake Recreation Area offers a managed lake-and-woods setting outside the Mount Snow corridor. It’s a nearby regional recreation option for travelers who want a different outdoor day, clearly separate from West Dover’s in-town and resort activities.
