The upstairs loft area is more spacious than it looked from the photos, would sleep 2 very comfortably in addition to the Q and K bedrooms. The kitchen is also spacious but a bit dated. I was glad I brought my own pressure cooker and muffin pan to make dinner one night (not things I'd expect a vacation rental to have), but would be nice if the owner refreshed the cookware and flatware, and provided a coffee maker. The house is located a short 5 min drive from dining and shopping options in Arnold which is nice -- I've rented another house in the area that was more like 15 mins from the highway. This was nicer for back-and-forth to Bear Valley skiing and town for dinner.

Our family (parents and two adult sons) spent 3 days here over Christmas and were very comfortable in our separate rooms and with cooking, playing games, opening presents, watching TV, etc. The kitchen is probably the best stocked we've ever seen in our many rentals. We drove to nearby Calaveras Big Trees (5 miles) and had a great walk in the snow among the giant trees. Also a short (10-12 miles) to Murphys and Columbia State Historic Park. Easy to find and access and very comfortable stay - would love to return in the summer/fall months!
