Make Hollywood your next getaway—choose from 22 great vacation rentals

Though its name conjures up images of movie stars, famous landmarks, and film industry glamour, Hollywood, FL has little in common with the Southern California city of the same name. But what it does have is no less legendary: Beautifully landscaped neighborhoods, miles of sugar-sand coastline, and plenty of laid-back living in a location with great access to the vibrant Latin-infused culture of both Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

We stayed here for a bachelorette celebration; there were seven of us and the place was plenty big enough. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and the decor was soothing and stylish. A couple of things I wish were different: 1- we saw several cockroaches, big ones. It’s understandable that there might be a few in hot climates, but it wasn’t awesome to see them scurrying around. 2- the kitchen is not well stocked for cooking in. There is only one mixing bowl and two tiny cutting boards. Shelf stable condiments would also be appreciated, like cooking oil, salt, pepper, sugar. Consider adding a few more essentials. 3- the garbage and recycling was nowhere to be found. There were signs posted in the house indicating it was behind a locked gate, but we couldn’t find a gate or bins anywhere on the property. There were also no garbage bags. This meant we had to leave the trash behind when we left, which felt weird. Consider adding additional instructions or maybe putting the bins in a more obvious place? 4- laundry detergent would have been helpful. 5-we tried to check out late and weren't able to. Ten AM feels pretty early for checkout, consider moving to 11 at least! Otherwise a great stay, a great location!

    Where is Hollywood, FL?

Sandwiched between Fort Lauderdale (11 miles north) and Miami (20 miles south), Hollywood resides on southeast Florida’s Atlantic Coast. Long popular with retirees, it is considered part of the Miami metropolitan area.

Things to do in Hollywood, FL

When planning a trip to Hollywood, plan for plenty of time spent suntanning and frolicking in the warm ocean surf at Hollywood Beach. Perfect for early morning jogs, leisurely bike rides, and fun rollerblading, the Hollywood Boardwalk is a must-visit paved path that winds along five miles of beach and beautiful Atlantic coastline.

A sure bet for an afternoon of family fun, bring your kids on an exciting ride aboard the Hollywood Trolley, which offers daily sightseeing adventures through the city’s eclectic neighborhoods. If you brought along a toddler, you’ll even save a few bucks—children five and under ride free.

When your friends or family get hungry, make sure to visit Le Tub Saloon, home of the “Sirloin burger,” labeled one of America’s best burgers by Oprah Winfrey and GQ food critic Allan Richman.

Are you an outdoors enthusiast? If so, make sure to check out the Anne Kolb Nature Center on the northeast side of town. A 1,500-acre coastal mangrove wetland that is home to a variety of native tropical plants and animals, this park is a great place to hike, kayak, and view native species. Plus, it’s part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, a 2,000-mile collection of more than 500 protected locations in Florida to view native songbirds, waterfowl, and hundreds of other avian species.
