Loved the location, ambiance, fireplace and kitchen. Open floor plan was perfect and the large dining table was comfortable for all 8 of us. Definitely a gem!

Nice house with a great view! Nice quite location, until it gets windy. There was a weather front that came through while we were there with very high winds. The metal roof would make some awful sounds, loud enough that i actually stepped out of the house to inspect it as I was sure that the wind damaged it. I would have bet money that the roofing was being torn/blown off, but to my surprise I didn't see any damage. It was sustained high wind, causing enough roof noise to wake me up. Kitchen was very nice and supplied with everything that we needed to make breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bedrooms and bathrooms also supplied with plenty of linens and bathroom sundries. Plenty of space for my family to enjoy while we skied at Okemo, Mt Snow and Mount Sunapee. Most home rentals we have used typically contain some sort of binder with some sort of Welcoming letter, home directions, safety items and local information. Upon arrival, the house temp was set to a low temperature (understandable), with no Welcoming book we ended up searching for one to figure out how to increase the temp. Randomly locating two wrinkled and stained sheets of paper in the cabinet above the Fridge, we found some direction on operating the thermostat's. Numerous bulbs above the kitchen table are burnt out and the ceiling fan/light fixture in the living room does not function. I would assume the ceiling fan is operated by remote, but no remote was ever located. We searched everywhere to include in and under the couch (BTW under the couches need a cleaning. numerous pieces of trash, magazines, papers and ping pong balls are under it...but no remote found). Plenty of firewood available for the fireplace, which was very nice after skiing in the cold all day. I was surprised to find a hatchet located on the hearth. Great to use for making smaller kindling, but surprised the owners would provide for the renters use. I wouldn't want renters chopping kindling in my house risking damage to the house or hurting themselves. Possibly provide a single complementary fire starter to each renter. There was also a bottle of charcoal grill starter located on the hearth, also a risk that I wouldn't provide. Thinking about it now, I don't recall seeing a fire extinguisher but I may have missed it. One other thing to mention, there is conflicting information concerning the hot tub. On the rental agreement I believe it states no drinks of any sort allowed in it. On the hidden, worn out info sheets that we discovered oddly placed in a cabinet that rarely gets used I believe it also stated no drinks in the hot tub, but I believe there is a notice on the inside wall located near the door going to the hot tub that states only plastic cups are allowed. I think there may have been another notice concerning the hot tub on the fridge...which seems an odd place to put it. Either way, have the rules the same at all locations they are posted.

Home of the beautiful Mount Snow, winter sports enthusiasts flock to West Dover to enjoy what is arguably the Northeast's most entertaining and abundant natural resource - snow! Whether you're a snow bunny or a seasoned shredder yourself, or are just looking to enjoy the charm of small-town New England from a cozy home away from home, a stay in one of our Vermont vacation rentals is sure to satisfy.

Things to Do in West Dover

As previously mentioned, West Dover's greatest attraction is Mount Snow. With a summit elevation of 3,600 feet, 588 total skiable acres, and four main mountain areas, including 100 acres of ten terrain parks (for those looking to add to their repertoire of tricks on the super-pipe), it's easy to spend countless hours shredding the snowy slopes. The mountain is also host to a series of winter sports events and competitions, making it a mecca for aspiring pros and casual boarders looking to learn from the best.

If you're having trouble finding balance on a board, or are simply along for the ride, perhaps a massage, facial, or herbal wrap at Mount Snow's holistic Naturespa will provide the rejuvenation you need to nail tomorrow's first run. The spa offers seasonal specialties, so sore muscles, tense shoulders, or tired minds can find relief at the hands of experienced masseuses any time of the year. Even if you don't have time to hit the spa, a no-stress stay in one of our West Dover vacation rentals will ensure comfort and relaxation so you can focus on enjoying your New England getaway.

Summer in West Dover

The fun at Mount Snow isn't limited to the winter months. The summer season is just as jam-packed with alpine activities as its chilly counterpart. When snow-covered trails shed their wooly white blankets, mountain bikers hit the lifts to explore the slopes on wheels in the Mount Snow Bike Park. Those looking for a little adventure can let gravity take the wheel (literally) and try a few runs on Trail 7, dubbed the largest introductory trail in the East.

Adrenaline junkies and leisure lovers unite on the links at the Mount Snow Golf Club, but that isn't to say a round or two on this course won't get your heart pumping. Nestled in the Green Mountains and boasting radiant emerald fairways, a round in the mountains poses a unique challenge to both casual and serious golfers.

Day Trips From West Dover

If you're looking to get off of the mountain for a bit, Wilmington, VT. is only about eight miles from West Dover and offers family fun at the Zora Adventure Center and aquatic adventures with High Country Marine on Lake Whitingham. Approximately 70 miles northeast await the snow-capped peaks and trails of Killington. West Dover and Mount Snow are known for being exceptionally accessible, and are only about 150 miles from the historical sights of Boston and 100 miles from Hartford.

When the flakes fly this winter, you'll want to be one of two places - flying down the slopes of Mount Snow or cozy and comfortable in one of our accommodating West Dover vacation homes!
