Make Mendocino your next getaway—choose from 21 great vacation rentals

The villages, vineyards, and breathtaking natural beauty of the Mendocino Coast - or just "the Coast," as the locals prefer to call it - make this oceanfront slice of Northern California the perfect destination for a laid-back adventure! Mendocino itself is a quaint town, home to less than 900 year-round residents. However, don't let it's relatively small size fool you - this serene escape is increasingly popular amongst artists drawn to its stunning scenery and vacationers who are attracted by the peace and quiet.

Recent Mendocino vacation rental reviews

I have visited this home twice in the last year and so enjoyed the beauty, silence and deep sense of relaxation that the abode provides. The view from the cathedral windows are spectacular!

We had a Whale of a time! The deTails Beluga us away and we could not have Orca-strated a better weekend. The view from the hot tub was Greyt: no fences Narwhals blocked the view of the ocean. We wish this was our Spermanent home and we felt Blue leaving. We are leaving Whale-rested and are hoping to Humpback soon. Seriously, this house is great — charming, clean, well-equipped, and absolutely covered in whale imagery, which we loved, as you can maybe tell. The surroundings are gorgeous and you could even walk to Russian Gulch State Park, which has a fabulous 5-mile hike called Falls Loop Trail. Sitting in the hot tub as the sun set over the ocean and the stars came out was totally magical. We were 5 adults here for a Friendsgiving weekend and couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

The house and cottage fit all 12 of us plus a new grandson. Kitchen is well equipped. The hot tub and sauna were welcome. The weather was incredible, and we saw a pod of dolphins dancing in the waves. The wood stove kept us comfy,
