Make Mendocino your next getaway—choose from 15 great vacation rentals

The villages, vineyards, and breathtaking natural beauty of the Mendocino Coast - or just "the Coast," as the locals prefer to call it - make this oceanfront slice of Northern California the perfect destination for a laid-back adventure! Mendocino itself is a quaint town, home to less than 900 year-round residents. However, don't let it's relatively small size fool you - this serene escape is increasingly popular amongst artists drawn to its stunning scenery and vacationers who are attracted by the peace and quiet.

Recent Mendocino vacation rental reviews

We loved this house. It is really a home, with a well equipped kitchen, lots of space to spread out and breathtaking views of the open land around us. The proximity to town is perfect. Excellent place to escape from life. We will be back!

Our two families enjoyed the beautiful ocean views and sensible layout which provided everyone with enough space. There's a lovely deck from which you can even hear the ocean, and the kitchen is well stocked. If you have dogs, watch out for poison oak which can make an appearance in the back yard. The house is in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood - easy walking distance to the state park, the bluffs, the beach. Our one complaint is that the master bedroom's windows are all sealed shut - something I've never seen before , so you can't open them for ventilation. (There is a side door in the master which does open, which means if you want to listen to the ocean at night from the master, you'd have to leave the door open.) The second master has one opening window. (It also has a side door.)

This house is located in a nice location just off the highway but it feels secluded. Rooms are large and beds were very comfortable. You have a small view of the water. Big area in the back and a nice deck with a barbecue and hot tub. Also has a huge fireplace but we did not have any wood to enjoy it. The only things that could have been better is if there was coffee. There was a coffee maker and filters but no coffee. All the places I've rented on this site provided coffee. Also would be nice if there was some firewood available. I know we could go somewhere to buy our own but would be nice to have had some waiting for us, even if that was an extra cost. And lastly the lights outside on the porch didn't work. When we flipped the switch there was a little spark but that probably reset the breaker so we had no outside lights. But I would rent this place again if in Mendocino.
