Recent Lake Champlain Islands vacation rental reviews

First let me say I wanted to give 5 stars due to the beauty and location, but there were a few issues that although they did not pose a huge problem, were things that needed to be addressed. The owners/property managers were extremely responsive and although they did not get fixed during our brief weekend stay, I do believe they will make them right for future clients. Positives: Beautiful, modern farmhouse styling. Fantastic art work depicting the history of the property, town and region. Spacious and clean. Plenty of bedding, towels and toiletries (soap, shampoo and conditioner). Cleaning supplies and basic things like mop, broom and vacuum available. View was wonderful although it snowed almost a foot while we were there which made it difficult to tell there was a lake. I can imagine in the summer and fall this is stunning. Plenty of room for cars. Well stocked kitchen and bar area. Furniture was comfortable and functional (see one issue below though). Areas to improve: The pull out sofa has an adjustable portion but we could not figure out how to secure it in the position we wanted. It did not appear to be broken, but could.not figure it out and therefore was not able to use it as the area where the pillows go kept falling toward the floor and was not useable. Several light bulbs burned out in key areas. In the kitchen, the light right about the oven was out. The light in the laundry room was out so we have to use the flashlight feature on our phone to really see in there. There are two ceiling fans in the dinning area and the one closest to the stairs was out. The grill.whxih was asked about prior to arrival was filthy. I am giving a fair and honest review and this is the word that best describes it. If I had not had family in the area that has tools to clean it, I would have had to buy them as this is how bad it was. The coffee maker when plugged in is all lit up. There is a black on/off button on the side that we did not see and therefore thought the coffee maker did not work. We realized it several hours later. Perhaps simple instructions could be made available as the equipment is black and the on/off button was not easily seen. The upstairs toilets had some kind of buildup in the tank that left residue in the water even after flushing (floating in the water) and the fans did not shut off in the bathrooms. It snowed about 10 inches the second day we were there and we could not find a shovel so my family brought one to us. Perhaps it is a good idea to have one available for winter months. Part of the "ceiling" on the deck has blown off and was lying on the porch. I don't know when that occurred but we did not what anything during our stay so assume it happened prior to our arrival. Overall I would stay here again for sure! I think minor/general maintenance was the issue and not cleanliness (with the exception of the grill). I encourage all considering this property to absolutely book!

We enjoyed having the freedom to have our family dogs with us. Lots of room for the four of us to relax. The kitchen had more than we expected which made it easier to make meals. Really appreciated having a stock of many spices. The place was very clean with comfy beds and plenty of towels.

Quiet family crafting in front of a cozy fire overlooking snowy Lake Champlain after a visit to ECHO Science Center in nearby Burlington - what could be better.

Much of Vermont is verdant and lush, and the Lake Champlain region near the Quebec and Northern New York borders isn't any different. The Lake Champlain Islands are known for their majestic seashores and gorgeous mountain views. The area boasts 200 miles of pristine coastline - you might even spy Champ, the mythic monster that is said to reside in the lake! - as well as apple orchards and farmers markets galore.

Spotted by Samuel Champlain in 1609, the area was strategic in the War of Independence and was home to several pitch battles during the War of 1812. Two centuries later, the region is a tourist mecca, thanks to beautiful beaches, places for peaceful reflection, and eager locals wanting to lend a helping hand. Our Vermont vacation rentals on these small but scenic islands offer the best respite for the weary traveler.
