We loved our recent visit to Costa Rica and the house we stayed in. I wanted to share some tips as traveling from the USA we had some questions and I am hoping that I can provide some insight for others new to traveling to the area. The views from this house are breathtaking and we stopped to take in the sunset overnight. The house had everything we needed for cooking and hanging out. It is super close to the pool so on the weekend there are pool activities in the evening such as live music, Karoke, and a DJ. I do want to mention we had a couple of things we needed when we checked in and Kevin our owner relations manager took care of everything quickly. He checked on us during our stay and even followed up when we left. As for considering whether to do all inclusive - You have the ability to purchase this by the day depending what you are going to be doing. We did one day as all inclusive and then opted to cook or go out to eat the rest of the week since we had several excursions planned away from the resort. If you are a foodie you may want to opt out of the all inclusive. We were able to put a credit card on file for our drinks around the resort. We used Booky Bee for several of our excursions as well as picking us up and dropping off at the airport. Orlando took great care of us and I highly recommend planning excursions. Some things we did were Diamante Adventure Park, Fishing, Sunset Sailing, a Coffee/Cultural Tour, & Jet Ski's. There is a nice spa on site (had 2 massages while there) and for the adventurous you can even get a massage on the beach for a unique and very affordable experience. Also, no need to convert your money they take American dollars. We learned the hard way and found out after the fact it is better not convert to colo'n. There are great restaurants in the area - we went to Ginger's, Foodncation (multiple times), Roberto's (multiple times). We shopped at the local grocery and on our last day we discovered so many other restaurants close to Roberto's. The Shuttles run on time here and run 6:00 AM - 10 PM. They do get a little odd in the evening as there route does change a bit so make sure you verify with them if they can take you to your room. There are lots of friendly employees at the resorts and we even made a new life long friend. I do recommend this resort and this Villa. Also, please know we did a lot of walking to the restaurants, groceries, etc. Make sure you bring more than flip flops as they have serious hills and we all had great exercise for the week with all the hills and stairs. I did love how close the pool was to the house and the shuttle also stops right outside the home. I also wanted to mention they do run on "Tico" or beach time here. So when you order a drink at the pool bar it isn't always quick, but that's okay. You are on vacation and just enjoy the vibe and the beautiful views from this resort.

Where is Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste?

Located in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, Playa Hermosa is a popular beach spot that still retains a remote, tranquil feel. It sits on the country’s west coast, about 150 miles from San José and the city’s hustle and bustle.

Things to do in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste

It’s an ideal spot for watching the sunset or for the children to play in the waves, and the waters are fairly calm. Visitors delight in the abundance of scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, stand up paddleboarding, and fishing. When you’re all tired out from a day of fun in the sun and surf, you can return to one of our Playa Hermosa apartment rentals to unwind.

A lack of commercial businesses affords a calm, relaxed feeling in Playa Hermosa, and the locals are friendly. While you won’t find a lot of commotion here, the town has a fair selection of restaurants to enjoy. Taste Asian-fusion tapas at Ginger, or enjoy refreshing, chilled coconut water at one of the local establishments. If you want a bit more nightlife, the coastal town of Playas del Coco is about fifteen minutes away. While you’ll still be able to relax, there’s no shortage of activity—Playas del Coco is one of the fastest growing tourist communities in Costa Rica. Bars and restaurants generally stay open later here, and it’s not uncommon for them to be playing music all night long. Residents are friendly as well, and call themselves “coqueños,” meaning “from Coco.”

However you choose to experience this gorgeous part of the world—whether splashing in the waves, resting in a hammock, or living it up with local nightlife—our Playa Hermosa vacation rentals have got you covered. Browse our offerings to start planning your next tropical escape.
