Cabin was very nice. Had everything we needed. Pictures were a true representation. Very cozy. Great deck. Very happy to be able to bring our dog. Hot tub was super. The only cons were the beds and pillows. They were very uncomfortable to say the least!!!
It is a spacious cabin back in the woods, but not far away from things to do. Very nice
This is what I didn’t like. Know porch large enough to sit under outside if it was raining or snowing. Hot tub would not heat up and it’s out in open so if it raining no sitting on tub. Beds were very uncomfortable . We have stayed in a lot of cabins and this one is a got ya.
We appreciate the guests feedback and apologize that this unit does not have a covered deck. The photographs of the unit and the virtual tour show the porch and the location of the hot tub for guests consideration when booking. The hot tub is set to 101 degrees however if it is left uncovered in the cold weather it will lose heat. Our Local Manager will keep an eye out on feedback about the beds to see if they need to be replaced.
A lovely cabin to rest and kick back!
Very secluded and we'll accommodated
Beautiful cabin to get away and relax
Had a wonderful time altogether. The cabin was wonderful and the nature around it made it more perfect. Thank you!
Secluded! Very nice place to get away from everything.
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin and were pleasantly surprised with the amenities...we cooked several meals in the well stocked kitchen, used the grill, and even got to relax a bit in the hot tub. The cabin is definitely tucked away, but not too far from downtown Helen and Unicoi State Park.
This cabin had everything we wanted! It was remote and provided nature and privacy and yet close to everything we wanted to see and do! Beautiful!! We would definitely recommend and stay again! Thank you!!
This cabin is absolutely beautiful inside and out. It was perfect for us we enjoyed the fire pit / the hot tub / the wrap around porch ( deer walk by every evening ) . Inside was the perfect size and all necessities were provided . Could not have been a better trip . Would highly recommend and I'm sure we will be back soon
Overall, this was a nice property. It was generally well maintained and appeared as it did in the pictures. Kitchen was well stocked if you choose to cook. As several others have commented, Vacasa housecleaning staff did an overall poor job. Many bits of trash were found on the floor-- including a spent bullet case. My dog was chewing on a rawhide which did not belong to us-- not sure where he found it in the house. Also, the cleaning staff came in to our rental-- well ahead of the checkout time-- while we were at breakfast. We were very unhappy with this because we had left our dog and some personal belongings which we were coming back for. Our dog could have easily escaped. If it's an 11:00 checkout time, no one should be there before that.
Lastly, the owners should consider replacing the two chairs and ottoman in the living room. The rest of the furniture is quite nice; but these three pieces shed there fake-leather covering all over the rug. We spent a lot of time trying to clean it up, but we ended up with it all over our things.
Me and my wife was lookong for a quite secluded get away and that's what we got.
Our stay was decent, however when we arrived the fireplace did not work, which was unfortunate considering the outside temps. The house overall was nice and comfortable, minus the fireplace. Also, Saturday morning my wife decided to take our small dog for a walk up the road and when she approached the top of the driveway a pitbull came running down the hill from a permanent residence and viciously began growling & barking at her almost ready to attack her. She screamed and came back to the cabin shaking in tears. The property manager and Vacasa apologized but did nothing for us, even after a broken fireplace & almost being attacked by a very large pittbull. I suggest if you stay here you might want to stay close to the house! Or if you like walking or jogging I'd go somewhere else. Not what you would expect when paying so much to rent a place for 2 nights.
We are sorry to see the neighbor's dog gave our guest a scare. There are no laws here that prevent dogs from running loose; we do apologize if that makes our guests uncomfortable. The fireplace is currently under going repairs. We are sorry for any disappointments the loss of that amenity caused this guest.
We drove from Florida to this cabin in the mountains the week after Christmas. The exact location is not in Google maps, but it’s very easy to find once you get to the Cherokee campground on Bethel Rd.
The cabin is gorgeous. The kitchen has more than what you need to prepare dinner. The loaf is very nice although the bed cracks a lot. Downstairs bedroom is very comfortable. We used the grill outside and the fireplace inside before bedtime.
The kids loved to hike the forest around the cabin looking for sticks to burn in the fire pit while we enjoyed the hot tube at night. It was our first time in the area so we visited the stores at Helen and hiked some of the waterfalls closeby.
It could have been perfect if we had some snow though. We definitely recommend Montain Oaks.
This home is secluded and other reviewers have said to arrive during daylight hours. Good advice. The home is well prepared and very nicely directed. We know have to buy a faux bear skin rug because our son loved it so much. Great home.
Had a great family trip to GA mountains for Thanksgiving vacation. This cabin is beautiful and well located. Seen lots of wildlife walking about in the mornings.
The cabin is very nice and the property is secluded enough to let you feel as though you have plenty of privacy.
Definitely need to arrive during daylight hours.
We really enjoyed our stay at Mountain Oaks. My husband and I stayed for 1 week at this home. It is and has everything the description states. The home is tastefully decorated with local pieces. There were even books available on the area which was a nice touch. This home is perfect for a family or two couples. We loved the option to bring our dogs since we thought we may have to take them with us due to a impending hurricane but we did not. Although this home will not provide a mountain view, it is surrounded by beautiful woods and has a valley below the deck in which we saw deer passing through. We enjoyed the peace of nature in the secluded area. The hot tub was a welcome amenity after our days of adventuring. The only amenity missing that would have been useful would have been a washer and dryer (there are laundry mats close by though). Although this cabin is private, we feel it was very nicely located within a reasonable distance from many activities. Unicoi State Park is very close by, we also enjoyed white water rafting within an hour drive. Hiking, beautiful views, dining, and the German-themed town of Helen is all nearby. Overall this is a great home in a great location! We did not give Mountain Oaks 5 stars for the following reasons... The cleaning service did not seem to do a thorough job cleaning the home, there were overlooked areas and missed details. While we understand that staying in the woods brings just that, nature, we would have expected a bit more care be taken to maintain a beautiful home like this. There seemed to be a critter issue, one being that we could hear noises in the wall at night. We made Vacasa aware of the issues we encountered. Some of which were addressed during our stay. Overall we would recommend this home to guests and advise Vacasa to revisit their cleaning standards.
