The cabin was clean as a whistle and had so much to keep you entertained. The hot tub and fire pit are an added bonus, as well as the dual-headed shower. Going to this rental made us want to spend more time there as it is very private and secluded. The surrounding area and attention to detail with decorating is amazing. You definitely feel at home in this cabin, I would recommend it ten times over.

We loved the cabin, hot tub, fireplace and fire pit. The kitchen was well stocked as we cooked both nights we were there. The house is a little tricky to find so I would recommend pulling up the instructions on the welcome email and not arrive after dark. Overall, it was convenient to hiking trails and the city of Helen and we very much enjoyed our stay. One item to note - The upstairs bed is incredibly squeaky-makes a loud cracking sound. Every time you move the entire house can hear because the bed is so loud. We would also recommend bringing a few extra towels if you want to use the hot tub as there is no washer/dryer.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Meredith. We are glad you enjoyed your stay! We appreciate you letting us know the bed may be in need of repair or replacement. We will pass this information to our team for inspection. We hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!

This is the second time we have stayed here - we love it. The hot tub cover has been replaced, and it is so much easier to get on and off the tub. Plus the fireplace is now gas, so that is very nice. This time (later in October) the leaves were just starting to turn, and it was even more beautiful than before. Everyone at Vacasa that we dealt with was very helpful and friendly. Such a nice break from the routine at home!

I wish we never stayed here! It was a last minute booking for our family escape- gone wrong! I was willing to accept the dirtiness of the place, until the bed bugs.
1. When we got there we noticed that the hot tub cover was destroyed, spewing tiny styrofoam balls all throughout the water. Hey, at least the tub worked...
2. The place "smelled" clean, but was filthy. Rugs were full of debris. The bathroom counters still had toothpaste on them from the previous guests. The toilets had a brown ring around the bowl. Cobwebs in every corner.
3. During the kid's arrival exploration adventure, they found a sticky mouse trap! I thought to myself "well... we ARE in the woods." And then we heard them running around the house all night! Which brings be to my next point..
4. The upstairs bed is unbearable. If you move at all the whole thing sounds like its breaking. If you have other guest in the house plan on waking them up every time you roll over. We put the kids in the upstairs bed the second night. We figured the sound of mice wouldn't keep them up like it did us!
5. The furniture is not the same as the photos. The "plush leather" recliners are gone. They have been replaced with some chairs that appear to have come from a garage sale or someone's grandmother's basement.
6. The cable didn't work. The shower didn't work. The fireplace didn't work. The CD and record players didn't work. They games were incomplete and mixed up in random boxes.
7. Then we discovered we were ALL eaten up by BED BUGS! I wish I could post photos for this review. We had to throw away our luggage, and hire extermination for our own home. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! You will return home with some stowaways!
Manager response:
Hi, Alexandra! We are so sorry to read you were not happy with your experience. The hot tub cover was on order prior to your arrival and has been installed since your stay. We do put mouse traps under the sinks, all the way to the back, so our guests don't get hurt. The cable and showers appear to be working, and the fireplace just needed to be turned on. We have had slip covers placed on two of the chairs, the upstairs bed has been repaired, and the cabin has been thoroughly cleaned. An inspection has taken place, and it has been confirmed there are no bed bugs. Thank you!

We loved the house ,it was beautiful in and out ,very quiet, secluded location . We had expected a squeaky upstairs bed so that was no surprise ,slept fine with the mattress on the floor . It is a bit of a steep drive up but we were able to do it with a mini van ,def recommend checking in during the daytime .

We loved the location of the cabin because it was so private and secluded. Getting there however was quite tricky! The cabin is on a gravel road that goes for about two miles off the main road. Overall my family and I loved it and are already planning our next trip to the area. If you love hiking, frogs, mushrooms, stars and spiders then this is the place for you. The cabin had everything we needed as far as conveniences, games, kitchen with all the basics, plenty of room for a family of four to relax.

There were a few things that could use a little improvement. For example we noticed several wasp nests in the windows and excessive amounts of cobwebs. The hot tub cover is broken and has a piece of rusted metal sticking out the side which could seriously injure someone. Because the cover is broken there’s little styrofoam balls coming out of it and into the hot tub. The bottom drawer on the oven is also broken and fell off the first night we used the stove. It would also be helpful to have a binder with a list of emergency numbers, local hospitals, who to call if something is needed, etc. Local restaurants, recommendations, shops, etc. I understand that this can be found online but in an emergency paper can be easier to look at.
Manager response:
We appreciate your review, Natalie! The hot tub cover is being replaced, and maintenance is handling the bottom drawer on the oven. We provide wasp spray for guest use as it is the season for wasp nests. Cobwebs are removed during every clean, but being in the heavily wooded mountains, spiders rebuild very quickly. Thank you!

This cabin is perfect for the entire family . We chose this location because it’s just a few miles away from Helen and 45 mins to Vogal State Park . This cabin was perfect the price affordable. Everything was just the way it was described. We would love to visit this place again . Highly recommended to anyone looking for a place to relax.
Joan D. Jul 2020
The location was great for a quiet relaxing vacation- just what we needed. The kitchen was well equipped compared to other rentals we have been at - was able to make some nice meals. Sitting on the deck enjoying the cool mountain air was so nice. And getting out of the city, you can see so many more stars at night. The fire pit and hot tub were nice relaxing activities. We actually made s’mores! (Haven’t done that in years!). There is a creek near the cabin, but it’s small and not really easily accessible, so we drove to a nearby state park for fishing.
ryan w. Jul 2020
Very private, comfortable and clean.
Mercedes G. Jun 2020
Everything was perfect in the cabin. The outdoor was beautiful surrender by nature. The hot tube was wonderful and relaxing.
Samantha H. Jun 2020
Great cabin for a getaway with your family. Location is secluded but not inconvenient. Everything we needed. Only thing missing was a washer/dryer. Dryer would have helped very much with towels and swimwear from our tubing trips and use of hot tub!
Joel V. May 2020
The cabin was great very secluded the kids loved walking the trails. The beds were fine the top one does make noise but it didnt bother my sleep. Clean but could use little maintenance like yhe door knobs needed to be rescrewed tighter ( nothing crazy)....Hardest thing is getting a hold of someone. i left something and have been calling everyday all week and have yet to speak to someone
Manager response:
Hi Joel! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are glad you enjoyed the home's great location and features. We are working diligently with our local team to ensure any areas throughout the home in need of attention are addressed. Seth W. Apr 2020
Overall we loved the cabin ! Very secluded and quiet . The bad ... something has to be done with the beds! ESP upstairs .. omg you can’t move a inch without the whole cabin hearing it . Impossible to sleep on so I put the matress on the floor .
Manager response:
Seth, thank you for providing your valuable feedback. We are very sorry to hear the beds did not suit your preferences. We use this feedback as a means to improve and hope to have the chance to host your next visit. Thank you!
Eric S. Mar 2020
This home was very, very nice, clean and roomy. We loved the mountains, fireplace and huge upstairs master bedroom with a living room area. IMPORTANT: The home is very remote and the road that leads to the home isn't paved so it's a real chore to get to especially if you don't have a pick up truck. Honestly, we didn't care much for the town of Helen because it's very old and almost every building has an old moldy smell. Definitely don't go eat at a Thai restaurant in town called Spice 55 because it wasn't good at all. However, make sure you DON'T miss going to Anna Ruby falls because it's breath taking. Bottom line if you're looking for a great cabin to get away from it all "and you can make it to the home on the unpaved road" then this is the place for you. Finally, your GPS will not take you to the property so PLEASE, PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO YOU BY THE OWNER / VACASA. As you follow the instructions you'll be turning right by a church called Bethel Baptist. Once you turn you'll quickly go down a dirt road to the right and it will be about a mile or so before you reach the home on the left and drive down the fairly steep driveway. Have a great time!
Shayna C. Mar 2020
My family and I loved staying at this cabin. It was beautiful and very clean. Only down fall was how uncomfortable the beds were. They were seriously the worst! If you can get past that then this place is perfect. Thank you!
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Shayna. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate you letting us know there is room for improvement, and we'll pass your comments to the owner for consideration. We hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!

Great time, great escape, great home
Morgan S. Feb 2020
I booked this cabin with 4 other women for a perfect weekend getaway. The cabin is so cute! It was very clean, nice and neat, and had incredible views. We loved the loft upstairs. Super cute. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, especially with 5 inches of snow. The only reason I didn’t put 5 stars is because the roads were a little more backroad than expected, BUT the cabin itself is one of the most relaxing places I’ve stayed in a while.
Bonny B. Feb 2020
This cabin was a great fit for us and our 2 dogs. There was a great area to hike with them behind the cabin, which I enjoy and well as my dogs. As others noted the drive up to the cabin is best in a truck or jeep. The view from the wrap around porch was very nice. We would definitely stay at this cabin again.
Zachary T. Oct 2019
This is truly a special home tucked in the woods. Beautiful lifted ceilings and natural light , nice kitchen and wonderful our door space with porch, grill, hot tub, fire pit , full wrap around porch!

Amazing all around other the beds. Both beds were hard and creeky. If they were to upgrade beds/matresses this would be 5 star!

Overall great stay! Recommend highly for the perfect mountain getaway , tucked close to Helen.

Thank you for a great stay and we will be back!
Katia S. Oct 2019
Overall, the cabin was lovely and was close enough to enjoy Helen and the nearby trails! It was clean and provided all the amenities we would have needed! I would recommend that there should be a notice for the cabin, that at least a front wheel drive is best for the driveway to get there as the driveway is pretty steep even for the Jeep we traveled in. Fantastic experience otherwise.
Tonya d. Aug 2019
This place was beautiful. Fully equipped two bedroom, two bathroom cabin. Gorgeous interior. If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is the place for you.
FERNANDO A. May 2019
The driveway was a bit tight, but the cabin is gorgeous and my stay was excellent. Highly recommend !
Ty H. Mar 2019
I went into this expecting problems. It all went smooth as glass. The home was clean, smelled fresh, and was very nice! Its basically the last house on the left, very secluded. Very close to Helen as well. I loved it. I would definitely go back amd in fact I intend to.
Melissa Ann O. Feb 2019
I loved the Log home we stayed in. It was decorated with very nice items and easy access to the surrounding towns. I just wish it had a washer and dryer. Very clean and loved the scenery. I would recommend this log home for someone to stay.
Wendy E. Dec 2018
Cabin was very nice. Had everything we needed. Pictures were a true representation. Very cozy. Great deck. Very happy to be able to bring our dog. Hot tub was super. The only cons were the beds and pillows. They were very uncomfortable to say the least!!!
TIMOTHY L. Nov 2018
It is a spacious cabin back in the woods, but not far away from things to do. Very nice
Mtch H. Nov 2018
This is what I didn’t like. Know porch large enough to sit under outside if it was raining or snowing. Hot tub would not heat up and it’s out in open so if it raining no sitting on tub. Beds were very uncomfortable . We have stayed in a lot of cabins and this one is a got ya.
Manager response:
We appreciate the guests feedback and apologize that this unit does not have a covered deck. The photographs of the unit and the virtual tour show the porch and the location of the hot tub for guests consideration when booking. The hot tub is set to 101 degrees however if it is left uncovered in the cold weather it will lose heat. Our Local Manager will keep an eye out on feedback about the beds to see if they need to be replaced.

Beautiful cabin to get away and relax
Gabriela M. Aug 2018
Had a wonderful time altogether. The cabin was wonderful and the nature around it made it more perfect. Thank you!
Josh R. Aug 2018
Secluded! Very nice place to get away from everything.
David W. Jul 2018
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin and were pleasantly surprised with the amenities...we cooked several meals in the well stocked kitchen, used the grill, and even got to relax a bit in the hot tub. The cabin is definitely tucked away, but not too far from downtown Helen and Unicoi State Park.
Michelle A. Apr 2018
This cabin had everything we wanted! It was remote and provided nature and privacy and yet close to everything we wanted to see and do! Beautiful!! We would definitely recommend and stay again! Thank you!!
christine d r. Apr 2018
This cabin is absolutely beautiful inside and out. It was perfect for us we enjoyed the fire pit / the hot tub / the wrap around porch ( deer walk by every evening ) . Inside was the perfect size and all necessities were provided . Could not have been a better trip . Would highly recommend and I'm sure we will be back soon
Jill F. Apr 2018
Overall, this was a nice property. It was generally well maintained and appeared as it did in the pictures. Kitchen was well stocked if you choose to cook. As several others have commented, Vacasa housecleaning staff did an overall poor job. Many bits of trash were found on the floor-- including a spent bullet case. My dog was chewing on a rawhide which did not belong to us-- not sure where he found it in the house. Also, the cleaning staff came in to our rental-- well ahead of the checkout time-- while we were at breakfast. We were very unhappy with this because we had left our dog and some personal belongings which we were coming back for. Our dog could have easily escaped. If it's an 11:00 checkout time, no one should be there before that.
Lastly, the owners should consider replacing the two chairs and ottoman in the living room. The rest of the furniture is quite nice; but these three pieces shed there fake-leather covering all over the rug. We spent a lot of time trying to clean it up, but we ended up with it all over our things.
Darrell L. Feb 2018
Me and my wife was lookong for a quite secluded get away and that's what we got.
Patrick C. Jan 2018
Our stay was decent, however when we arrived the fireplace did not work, which was unfortunate considering the outside temps. The house overall was nice and comfortable, minus the fireplace. Also, Saturday morning my wife decided to take our small dog for a walk up the road and when she approached the top of the driveway a pitbull came running down the hill from a permanent residence and viciously began growling & barking at her almost ready to attack her. She screamed and came back to the cabin shaking in tears. The property manager and Vacasa apologized but did nothing for us, even after a broken fireplace & almost being attacked by a very large pittbull. I suggest if you stay here you might want to stay close to the house! Or if you like walking or jogging I'd go somewhere else. Not what you would expect when paying so much to rent a place for 2 nights.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see the neighbor's dog gave our guest a scare. There are no laws here that prevent dogs from running loose; we do apologize if that makes our guests uncomfortable. The fireplace is currently under going repairs. We are sorry for any disappointments the loss of that amenity caused this guest.
Paola B. Jan 2018
We drove from Florida to this cabin in the mountains the week after Christmas. The exact location is not in Google maps, but it’s very easy to find once you get to the Cherokee campground on Bethel Rd.
The cabin is gorgeous. The kitchen has more than what you need to prepare dinner. The loaf is very nice although the bed cracks a lot. Downstairs bedroom is very comfortable. We used the grill outside and the fireplace inside before bedtime.
The kids loved to hike the forest around the cabin looking for sticks to burn in the fire pit while we enjoyed the hot tube at night. It was our first time in the area so we visited the stores at Helen and hiked some of the waterfalls closeby.
It could have been perfect if we had some snow though. We definitely recommend Montain Oaks.
Melissa H. Jan 2018
This home is secluded and other reviewers have said to arrive during daylight hours. Good advice. The home is well prepared and very nicely directed. We know have to buy a faux bear skin rug because our son loved it so much. Great home.
Tonya G. Nov 2017
Had a great family trip to GA mountains for Thanksgiving vacation. This cabin is beautiful and well located. Seen lots of wildlife walking about in the mornings.
Hope H. Oct 2017
The cabin is very nice and the property is secluded enough to let you feel as though you have plenty of privacy.
Cindy N. Oct 2017
Definitely need to arrive during daylight hours.
Megan R. Oct 2017
We really enjoyed our stay at Mountain Oaks. My husband and I stayed for 1 week at this home. It is and has everything the description states. The home is tastefully decorated with local pieces. There were even books available on the area which was a nice touch. This home is perfect for a family or two couples. We loved the option to bring our dogs since we thought we may have to take them with us due to a impending hurricane but we did not. Although this home will not provide a mountain view, it is surrounded by beautiful woods and has a valley below the deck in which we saw deer passing through. We enjoyed the peace of nature in the secluded area. The hot tub was a welcome amenity after our days of adventuring. The only amenity missing that would have been useful would have been a washer and dryer (there are laundry mats close by though). Although this cabin is private, we feel it was very nicely located within a reasonable distance from many activities. Unicoi State Park is very close by, we also enjoyed white water rafting within an hour drive. Hiking, beautiful views, dining, and the German-themed town of Helen is all nearby. Overall this is a great home in a great location! We did not give Mountain Oaks 5 stars for the following reasons... The cleaning service did not seem to do a thorough job cleaning the home, there were overlooked areas and missed details. While we understand that staying in the woods brings just that, nature, we would have expected a bit more care be taken to maintain a beautiful home like this. There seemed to be a critter issue, one being that we could hear noises in the wall at night. We made Vacasa aware of the issues we encountered. Some of which were addressed during our stay. Overall we would recommend this home to guests and advise Vacasa to revisit their cleaning standards.
