House was very comfortable for our needs
James R. | Sep 2024
The cabin itself is lovely, very comfortable. We appreciated the grill, washer/dryer, and living snd dining areas, It is probably time to replace the mattress in the master bedroom, noticed a dip on the right side And a bit of a sore back some mornings. I also have a handicap and the steps in front of the cabin, while easier than a path of rocks are curvy and made uneven, I did fall once off the side without a railing into the dirt, however it was a soft landing and I did not hurt myself, the stair railing is on the left side and my left arm is paralyzed and I have some difficulty with my left leg as well, so that stair situation is not ideal, the railing is made out of a 2x4 so not much grip ability with one hand. It is very rural and luckily we drive an all wheel vehicle, the road up to the cabin is gravel and is narrow with lots of potholes, occasionally you run into other neighbors going the direction towards you, that require you to back down the narrow path until you find a spot where the car can pass you. I brought my service dog with me, The outdoor patio is lovely to sit on with super comfortable rocking chairs, it is pet friendly with screen protectors along the bottom, My dog loved laying on the deck listening to the crowing roosters and clucking chickens down the hill. There is no defined yard around the property, so walking my dog was challenging with the uneven roads and the difficult steps situation. I did see a few dogs running in the neighborhood unleashed, they never came close to me or my dog. I never let her off leash the entire time we were at the cabin unless she was inside for fear she might get shot for trespassing on a neighboring property. Signs are posted no trespassing we shoot and do not call the cops. The cabin is on well water, which had a pump issue one evening, we called Vacassa and with in 2 days they sent a very kind nice person out to fix it. We saw some fun wildlife, a baby cub black bear, dear, a fox, squirrels, rabbits and dear, We hiked in the Georgia Tallulah park trails every day, We also joined the Clayton health snd fitness gym for the 2 months we had the place, great gym, clean and had everything we needed. About10 minutes from the property by car. Everything is a bit of a drive , so lots of driving in and out on that gravel road. I did learn I will probably steer clear of the mountain destinations in the future, U felt very secluded , we rented for 2 months, a week would have been perfect for me in hindsight! I tried to get Vacasa to let us exchange for a place closer to town, but they made us stick it out at the place because we had already started our stay. There were a few broken items I called Vacassa to fix on our arrival , that took almost 2 weeks to get those repairs done. I felt they should have been a little more responsive. There were som e challenges but all i all we survived the mountain retreat!

Nic’s place is the perfect little place for a weekend retreat! Close to town and activities, but still far away enough to feel retreated. Would highly recommend!
