Sip a cold drink in the shade of the Tiki hut and let the soothing sound of crashing waves wash away your stress. For a small nightly fee, you're also welcome to bring your dog along to join you! We enjoyed so much the enclosed/fenced backyard of this quaint home. The natural landscape and water feature of the pool were relaxing and pleasant, as was the tiki hut shelter for outdoor dining or relaxing in the shade. The house is old, as mentioned, and quite the landmark, with antique decor and artwork of Florida living from years ago, however, the kitchen was beautifully updated with top of the line appliances that made eating-in very easy and enjoyable. We erroneously assumed that the house being dog friendly, and on the beach, that our dear dog would have the luxury of being able to walk on the beach with us, but he was not allowed. As a matter-of-fact, there are no dog friendly beaches on the entire island. Several restaurants do advertise that they are dog friendly, which is a plus, but vacationers traveling with dogs should know that no dogs are allowed on any beach on AMI. We did find a quiet dog friendly beach to go for a picnic or afternoon walk, where our dog could play in beautiful clear water and the sand is pretty, at De Soto National Memorial, in Bradenton, which is about a 20 minute drive. You can also take your pooch to the causeway, about 5-10 minutes away, and walk your dog there, but the sand is not as nice.

Perfectly located with the ocean view right outside the front door. Every sunset was beautiful. The backyard pool and comfortable cottage provide an excellent home base.
