Welcome to Little House on the Creek. Nestled among the majestic redwoods of coastal Sonoma County, this is a waterfront cabin on Austin Creek with a private beach, a stone's throw from a seasonal swimming hole.
The house overlooks Austin Creek, a creek that originates in the foothills past the town of Cazadero and empties into the Russian River. In the rainy season, the creek is full and rapid. In the summertime, the creek is perfect for wading, swimming, berry picking, and sunning on the rocks. One of the cleanest waterways in California, this year-round creek is home to protected steelhead, great blue heron, egrets, kingfishers, ducks, and playful river otters. Austin Creek is perfect for children - catching tadpoles, observing small fish, skipping rocks, or floating on inflatable toys when water levels permit. The house is equipped with a hot water outdoor shower for easy rinsing after a day on the beach, beach towels, and inflatable toys.
This property is situated on 1/2 an acre of land with a fenced yard, soaring redwoods, lots of light, fruit trees (including two fruiting Gravenstein apple trees), organic herb and tomato garden, and a grapevine. There is an outdoor picnic table nestled under an apple tree, perfect for art projects or outdoor meals.
The cabin is an airy A-frame construction, with a large deck overlooking the creek. Two bedrooms with queen sized beds in each, and an additional loft with futons which sleep one to two kids. There is also a Pack ’n Play and a folding high chair to accommodate younger children.
Included among the amenities are flat screen TV, a wood burning stove, free WiFi, outdoor gas barbeque, games and activities for adults and children. Across the road from the house, Kidd Creek Road leads through tranquil redwood forest and is ideal for a stroll or an easy bike ride for kids. At the end of this one-mile road, you will find CazSonoma Inn and their seasonal restaurant, which serves freshest California fare possible.
This property is located 10 minutes from the ocean, 15 minutes from Guerneville, five minutes from Monte Rio. It is close to many wineries, bakeries, restaurants, kayaking, hiking, and biking.
