This house is big and has a lot of space. It is hard to find things in the kitchen. The rooms were not very clean. There was not a lot of hot water. The view is beautiful and the location is perfect.

We had toilet problems. And it seems like they never get fixed because we saw some reviews and they said they were fixed but they weren’t and they’re still not fixed to this day. So I advise anyone that wants to stay at this particular house to just expect some problems it’s a beautiful house with a lot of potential but the owner needs Fix the plumbing for sure,...

This house is spacious and the sound of the ocean is lovely coming in the master suite windows. The house itself is 'sparkle fancy' - it looks great in the pictures and on first arrival, but there's lots of deferred maintenance, as other reviewers have mentioned. The listing advertised 5 beds but when we arrived there was only bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows) for 3 beds. It was too late to call for more bedding, so we did without for the first night and then the second day took most of the day and a few phone calls before we managed to get more bedding delivered. It seems like the owners don't want to put any money into the house - there are shaky hand railings, uneven/broken tiles on floor, leaky kitchen faucet, plugged master bathroom sink, etc. I would have expected it to be in better shape for the price we paid. The location is also not exactly picturesque - it's right next to a lumber processing plant, and close to a sewage processing plant. The view of the ocean is nice but I think next time we'll choose a different place to stay.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see this guest didn't have a better stay. We brought brand new bedding to this home during this guest's stay. Since this reservation maintenance has secured the handrails, repaired the tiles, unclogged the sink, and fixed the faucet. Thanks!

The view and location was awesome. The house was a lot bigger than we thought it would be. Master bedroom was very nice. The smell was our biggest complaint. We couldn't tell if it was from mildew or cats (or both).

The house has a great but quirky location. It was convenient to anywhere you wanted to go. Great view of the ocean, a little hard to get to the beach, but doable. It is set up for 8-10 guests but because of the lower level not being 100% which you could use the bed just not the bathroom and the lack of the pull out couch it does not accommodate that many people in their own rooms. Lots of room to sit and socialize.

Location to the beach is the best thing about this place. House is huge but needs a little attention.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. It is a nice, quiet setting, and great house, with some maintenance issues as noted. We look forward to staying here again.

We spent a week here with friends to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.
The house is spectacular and has gorgeous views of the rocky pacific coast.
We spent lots of time walking the beach and having nighttime bonfires.
We appreciated the quiet location while still being close to town and local restaurants.
All the rooms are well kept and the house is nicely decorated.
There is a creek that runs alongside the property that is very cool.
Deer wander through the yard all the time (very tame).

Please pay your respects to Tobie for us.

It was my wife's birthday and the whole family came and enjoyed, house was great and with the beach so close it was great for the grandkids and all to easily enjoy our time there together.

When we arrived Thursday evening, we were very tired and finding out that our bedroom which was located downstairs did not have a properly working sink and toilet that overflowed was very disappointing. The manager was very helpful, but she could only do so much. The next afternoon it was fixed, but the sink was still not draining perfectly. The kitchen faucet was faulty as well. The metal stair rails were very loose and one of them actually fell off. We needed them badly being since we had 2 elderly women sleeping upstairs. One of the toilets on the second floor of the house kept running and we had to giggle the handle to stop it. There was only one baby gate in the house and yet 2 sets of stairs, so having 2 would have been better. We spent much of our time talking to vacasa people and then the house manager and then when the plumber and handyman came out. It was time taken out of our vacation. It was dissapointing.
Manager response:
We apologize for the inconveniences this guest experienced. The railing has been fixed and the kitchen sink faucet is working fine. Thank you!

Had the best weekend ever. Coming back every year. Made a great impression on us.
Natosha R. Apr 2017
We loved this place. Hear the ocean at night. My kids loved evening able to walk down on the beach from the house and finding sea shells. I would highly recommend this house.
Melissa B. Apr 2017
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The house was built in the 60's so you expect some minor issues. The location was PERFECT! Very quiet area with just a few steps to the beach. From the 3rd floor master suite you could see the ocean while laying in bed. WOW! The kitchen was amazingly stocked with everything we could possibly need. House very clean. The only complaint we had was not really with the house but customer service from vacasa. Very poor.....
Traci S. Mar 2017
Very beautiful home. Because it has 3 stories, you all have your privacy. The Master suite upstairs is stunning. The King suite downstairs has a sofa sleeper in it as well so it is nice for extra quest. Each floor has its own heating so everyone can be happy. The main floor is very spacious. The formal living room is very nice, with the bar in it. not to mention the piano. We will definitely stay here again. So nice to be able to walk out the door across the lawn and down the short trail to the beach.
Megan J. Mar 2017
The house was beautiful, clean, and had everything you need in the kitchen! If you are there for awhile you may want to bring Tupperware to store your leftovers, other than that they have everything you could possibly need, even a baby gate! :) Books, games, comfortable beds, and a beautiful view and trail to the ocean.
Omkar P. Jan 2017
Great home, wonderful experience. Very clean and neat. Well maintained. Totally worth it. Fabulous view of ocean. Beach very near by, 20-30 steps. Highly recommended.

Had a great time! Wonderful house for a lot of people.
Jesse W. Nov 2016
This property was absolutely incredible. Right on a cove surrounded by cliffs and private beach access from the back yard. Only a few minutes from giant Redwoods.

We had originally booked a different property. When we arrived at the other property on a Sunday night about 7 PM, there was a problem with the house. Within an hour Cory, the property manager, was there with a repairman. We all thought the issue had been fixed, but by the next morning it was back. Cory moved us from that house to Macklyn Cove the same day.
Macklyn Cove was much bigger and considerably better than the first house. VACASA took care of the difference, and we did not pay one extra dime for the use of a much better property.
This was our honeymoon and Cory went out of her way to take care of us.
VACASA demonstrated incredible customer service and made everything right. We will use VACASA for all of our vacations in the future.
Teresa R. Sep 2016
Overall the place was very nice. It could have had a little better access to the beach. I felt like i had to climb through the trees and shrubs to to out there. There were some items that could use some repairs.
Dale And Jann K. Sep 2016
The best part about this place is the online pictures... it is all down hill from there. Way over priced for what you get.
On the other hand it was fun feeding the deer and her babies that came into the yard.
Cory from the management company was very helpful, friendly and quick to respond to problems we had from the landlords lack of attention.
Manager response:
We apologize that this house was a disappointment; the Property Manager will work on improvements.
Kenneth B. Aug 2016
Over priced for the condition. This house is in a prime spot. The owners are trying to sell and it appears they don't want to put any money into upkeep and maintenance. TheWIFI only worked in limited rooms. The jacuzzi bathtub didn't work. The bedroom tv's didn't work. The plumbing in the downstairs bathroom was broke. The trash can inThe cabinet nExt to sink was full of old smelly trash from previous renters, DISGUSTING. The upstairs bedroom didn't have blinds and neighbors flood lights lit up room making sleep almost impossible. The local manger Cory was very friendly and tried to help. The maintenance guy came out also very friendly said house needed lots of repair. He couldnt fix TV. Won't stay here again, there are plenty of other vacation rentals that are nicer and better priced.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see that this guest did not have a better stay here. The owner is selling the home, but they are still actively doing upgrades. Recently they have purchased a new BBQ, storm doors, screen doors, and towels. The TV problem was a simple mix-up of the cables and was fixed immediately. The jet tub has been intentionally disabled and is not advertised on the home's page. The Property Manager was never notified that the pipes burst in this home, but the problem was rectified as soon as he was informed. They're as good as new! Extenders will soon be added to the home to help with the WiFi situation, and housekeeping will be more attentive regarding the trash. Thanks!

Great house, great view.
Joan S. Aug 2016
Very nice location to stay for a gathering. The property provides access to the water, and a nice hike up to Checo Point. Yard for playing games, and a fully stocked kitchen for fun meal get togethers.
Bob F. Jul 2016
This home was located on a hill just above the ocean with our own private path to the beach. The master suite was pretty amazing and the view were to die for. That's where my positive review stops.

Do not stay at this house if you plan to cook your meals. Some of the kitchen appliances were outdated and there is no vent hood for the stove. So bacon in the morning isn't recommended. The cookware was hideous. It was once high-end Circulon cookware, but it was in such horrible condition we couldn't use it. We ended up purchasing a 12" fry pan at the local market and did all over cooking in it. There are no bowls for storing leftovers and we had to purchase foil and Ziploc bags instead. There are a few lids for plastic bowls, but no bowls to be found. If the bowls that go with those lids are as nasty as the lids were, we wouldn't have used them anyway.

We brought fillet mignon and hamburger to BBQ . The BBQ was so nasty we put everything back in the freezer and ended up going out.

The windows are dirty and there are cobwebs everywhere. The kitchen windows are bad enough to hinder the view out of them. Luckily the windows facing the ocean weren't bad except for the torn and missing screens make it so you can't leave the windows or sliding glass doors open to hear the ocean and enjoy the breeze without the bugs joining you for dinner.

There was dog hair everywhere. This house needs a serious deep cleaning.

The internet connect sucked. The WiFi isn't strong enough to reach the main room in the house, so to use your computer or iPad you have to move closer to the room with the router in it, which is down the hall and away from the houses hub.

I do not recommend this house. You can do better! I don't know who these concerns fall to, the owner or Vacasa. We plan steer clear of both.

Manager response:
We are disappointed to see that this guest did not have an easier stay. All appliances were purchased brand new and placed in the home five years ago and are in excellent working condition at the present time. New cookware has been placed in the home, and brand new tupperware can be found in the pantry (please keep in mind that things can shift around in the kitchen due to guest use). The grill has been scrubbed clean as well as the interior of the home; windows are washed after every stay if the weather permits. The home currently has storm doors in place rather than screen doors, and the one screen door that was there has been replaced. The home has WiFi provided by the best carrier in the area, but we do understand that it can still be difficult to get access to the internet in all places in the home.

This property is in a choice location, but it is very dated and needs repair.
Robert S. Jul 2016
you won't find a better location for the beach. You are literally right on the beach and the view is amazing. Despite any of the issues such as the need for some maintenance, etc... the location makes a person want to come back.
We made campfires on the beach several nights... which was awesome.

not a "ton" of people on the beach---so, sometimes, feels like your own private beach. The house is very large. They need to do some minor things to fine tune this place. Is it the ritz carlton? no. But, the Ritz wouldn't have this beach location.
Tyler A. Apr 2016
This house is much bigger in person than in the pictures. Very neat layout. Nice to have a lawn next to the beach. Very neat design to the house.
Charlotte S. Mar 2016
Between the huge cactus that kept tipping over, and the whistling under the door to the deck, it was a lovely LOCATION> we had plenty of space to work in. There were just a few 'details' for the cost of a 'daily rate' that I believe should be a given. Just once, I would have loved for someone to call me and ask how things were.
Manager response:
Thank you for your feedback.

We enjoyed our stay

We hit the weather just right this past New Years, sunny, clear and in the 50s, much warmer sunning on the patio in the Adirondack chairs. The beach was delightful, the house very comfortable and well equipped. Just right for a large family or group of friends.
Connie L. Dec 2015
we loved the place...the beach is right there..easy access....and seems like a private beach when you get there....the decks and windows in the place give you fantastic views of the ocean and the great sunsets....even in December....the kitchen is very well stocked and easy access even for 3 cooks....plenty of bedrooms and baths to go around..we had 7 in our group...not crowded at all...tvs galore....practically every room....needs a bit of updating but overall it was a fantastic place....we will definitely be back.....
Nanci S. Nov 2015
One of the most interesting art and book collections I have seen. A truly 90's modern home with a stunning view
Rachael G. Nov 2015
It's an ok house. Quite dated, but nice.
Diane U. Sep 2015
This was a very lovely house to rent. The location was great. Large yard and right on the beach. The amenities were awesome. Bill and his wife were such a big help. Nice to have someone there to help when needed. The house has lots of space. I would definitely rent this place again.
Ian H. Sep 2015
Finding the house is a little different due to all the private drive keep out signs. The house is very close to the beach and hearing the waves in the morning is wonderful. The house is huge and can easily sleep 3 or more groups
Todd A. Sep 2015
Loved our visit. The view, beach was so relaxing. Loved the deer on the property. Can't wait to visit again!
James M. Aug 2015
perfectly relaxing with a great view and calm spot on the beach to enjoy.
Rose D. Jul 2015
Great house, very clean. Wonderful proximity to beach. However, I would have liked to be warned that there was a wastwater treament plant right next door. it was stinky at times, and made the swimming less desirable for me.
Jay H. Jul 2015
This is a terrific place to land for a day a week or longer. Perfect place to walk enjoy the beach, restaurants, town. You WILL NOT regret being at this home for a moment !
