Remodeled, historic house w/ hot tub, ocean views - walk to beach & dog-friendly
Looking for an Oregon Coast getaway with your family and friends? Look no further than this incredible vacation home in quiet and scenic Otter Rock! With a private hot tub, views of the ocean, and easy access to the beach, this home is perfect for those looking for a quiet place to relax and get back in touch with nature.
This remodeled 1935 home is based on a large lot, with views of the ocean, Devils Punchbowl, and Gull Rock, as well as the wooded surroundings of the house. You can get up close and personal with nature by following nearby paths (though guests should be aware of a deep ravine behind the house - please stay on the marked paths!) or enjoy it from one of the two exterior decks, which even offer an outdoor sink underneath for getting clean before coming back inside.
This multi-level home for eight is full of history, and remodels have given it the best in modern comfort while preserving its antique charm. Guests must be able to navigate the original, steep stairs to have full access to the home, but they'll be able to enjoy a spacious home filled with soft, warm colors, gorgeous woodwork, and comfy furnishings accentuated by lots of natural light and views through the windows.
The downstairs living room provides easy access to the spacious deck and accompanying natural views. Guests can then step back inside and retire in a comfy armchair or one of the two plush, cushy sofas - you can get comfy by the wood stove and discuss the room's decor, play some board games on the coffee table with the kids, or take in some entertainment thanks to the flatscreen cable TV and WiFi. Guests looking to duck away from the larger group for some private relaxation can enjoy in the upstairs sitting room with a couch, flatscreen TV, and DVD/VCR player.
Back downstairs lies a nice dining table for eight, with four more seats at the breakfast bar nearby. In addition to the gas grill out on the deck, you have access to a fully equipped kitchen, boasting beautiful tile countertops, a full selection of basic appliances, and extras like a dishwasher to make cleanup a breeze.
Four bedrooms and two baths provide accommodations for up to eight guests (and two lucky dogs, for a daily pet fee!) Upstairs, two themed bedrooms each offer plush queen-size beds, with a 3/4 bathroom accessible just down the hall. Downstairs is a kid's room with a twin bed and a twin trundle, along with toys, a washer/dryer, and easy access to a full bath with a tub/shower combo. The fourth bedroom just off the living room is curtained off for privacy and has a comfortably futon and rocking chair.
Your new home away from home has easy access to the beach and wildlife of the tide pools thanks to the Marine Garden trail, less than a block away. This stretch of beach is unbeatable for tidepool-hunting, and the beachcombing here is excellent as well. Just a few blocks away lies access to Long Beach, which any surfers in your group are sure to love. The entrance to Devils Punchbowl State Park is just a short walk south, and afterward, you can enjoy a delicious meal out at Mo's West. And of course, you'll be able to take luxurious soaks in your private hot tub.
Though Otter Rock has a few businesses, it's best for travelers who want a quieter, more relaxed vacation than larger nearby towns can offer. If you want to do a little shopping or have more restaurant choices, drive south about seven miles to bustling Newport. There you'll find a surprising variety of eateries and shops, plus activities ranging from visiting the Yaquina Head lighthouse to exploring the Oregon Coast Aquarium and much more.
With a perfect combination of modern comforts and natural access, this home provides an incredible experience you won't want to miss. Get your Oregon Coast vacation started and place your reservation today!

The location was incredible! We loved the solitude and quiet. The kitchen was very well stocked. The rooms were great for us to spend time together or find quiet moments to ourselves. We look forward to returning soon!
The Little Red House is as charming as it is comfortable. The wood stove makes it cheery and warm inside while the hot tub overlooking Gull Rock and the ocean (sometimes with grey whales spouting) make for a splendid combination. The kitchen is superb, especially for a vacation rental. It is well equipped and allowed our culinary undertakings to delight and nourish. The location of the house couldn’t be better: at the end of a quiet street with a trail to the beach a few yards away!
The decor is classy and cozy with lovely paintings in every room.
The house readily allowed my whole family a comfortable stay— everyone had their own bedroom.
I could go on and on. It is one of the top vacation places I have ever had the privelage to enjoy. I highly recommend it. Thank you to the owners, property managers, and cleaning crew who make it all possible!
Lots of space and a beautiful house in a great location. Management’s cleaning service needs to pay a little more attention when cleaning.
This house is a perfect, private getaway. It is quiet and secluded. It has walking distance access to 2 different beaches. It is close to both Newport and Lincoln City. We had everything we needed for a very relaxing, much needed, vacation.
Thank you so much.
The Red House was the perfect gathering spot for our group of 4 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs. The cozy house is located at the end of a private drive and has wonderful views of Otter Rock. Much time was spent in the hot tub located on the ocean view side of the house and exploring the 2 nearby beaches. One of our party went surfing both days and easily carried his board from the house. Already planning our next visit!
It's a cozy place but accommodated comfortably 7 adults plus one 7 year old granddaughter for her first visit to the Ocean. The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed to cook (we brought an instant thermometer) with, which we did all but one night. The upstairs bedrooms were comfortable and I believe everyone was happy with the down stairs accommodations. We would go again and I hope we can.
We loved it all - watching whales from the couch and deck was a special treat. We'll be back!

The red house was fabulous! Comfortable, spacious, amazing view and very well stocked. We couldn’t have asked for a better place!!! We will definitely return. Thank you for letting us share your little piece of heaven.
Perfect location. The house had everything you need. I will definitely stay here again

Red House reminded me of all the best parts of my childhood summer cottage. It is cozy, yet roomy enough for family to gather for group meals, games, and enjoying the porch and view. Everything we needed was available. The temperature setting on the outdoor hose was much appreciated!
Home was beyond awesome!! My husband and I stayed for almost 2 weeks with our 2 small dogs. The weather wasn’t the best but the spacious well equipped home with beautiful views made up for it. Hoping to be back soon.
Private, cozy, kitchen is well stocked, big tv, hot tub and view off the back of the house can’t be beat. Comfortable beds, plenty of blankets/towels, eclectic mix of artwork (which is all for sale by a local artist). Can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommended. Vacasa staff was very helpful when I needed to make a change to the reservation.
We stayed here with a group of friends and had a fantastic time. The hot tub was wonderful with an incredible view of the beach, and the house was well furnished and had all the amenities one could need. Plenty of towels, dishtowels, soaps, cups and dishes and mugs-many things that a lot of rentals end up lacking. The house was cozy and decorated with fun art, and the couches were very comfortable with the cozy throw blankets. A fabulous home and we hope to stay here again in the future!
We want to come back soon thanks
Loved this house, loved the location. Felt like we were totally secluded, but there were actually lots of people and lots of things to do. We'd go back to this house in a minute.
Our family enjoyed the seclusion and quiet of the Red House location. The kitchen was packed with plenty of dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. The access to the beach is close by and we used it often. You can spot eagles and whales from the deck with or without the binoculars that are provided. Vacasa even had a "goodie bag" of useful essentials (think Kleenex and dish soap) waiting for us upon arrival. Although we did not take a dog along, the residence is pet friendly.
This is a cozy little home with an amazing view! Not super toddler friendly, but we made it work. There is beach access, as well as the Devil's Punch bowl, which is in the neighborhood. Just a short drive to Newport where there's so much to do. The home was fully furnished and included so many great details (cards, games, movies, toys, etc.). We felt like we were home and will definitely be back!
We spent three nights here with our son's family and couldn't have asked for a better location with good beach access. The house was comfortable and had the needed amenities as well as a fabulous view. Our grand daughter enjoyed the toys and the hot tub on the back patio. It is an older home which has been nicely remodeled--the stairs to the second floor are very squeaky and steep so keep that in mind if mobility is limited or you have a light sleeper in the group. But that aside, we enjoyed our stay and this a wonderful beach location at a family affordable price. Thanks for the chance to stay at the Red House.
This vacation home was amazing. We LOVED it!!! The beach access, the hot tub and the general local to various attractions. We would do this again in a heart beat!!!
The Red House was a great spot for three generations of family members and their 2 spaniels - we all loved the proximity to the beach, the whale-watching from the deck, the very well-appointed kitchen. While the 100 year old house is, naturally, a little funky (a couple of little spare rooms that we didn't use), it has been remodeled in a great way. The two bathrooms and the kitchen are modern and clean. Highly recommend!
Great place for a family get together.
This is a cute older cottage w/ a good layout. The main bedrooms have very comfortable beds.
We watched whales from the deck & visited the tide pools & beach several times a day. We love the beach & whale watching. The house has a secluded feel and the convenience of a nearby town to get things is a plus.
The kitchen was great w/ a nice quiet dish washer.
The stairs steps are a bit tall but there is 2 railings for assistance.
We had a couple issues with housekeeping but no one else has mentioned it so it may have been an anomaly.
This is a beautiful quiet house at the end of a road...no traffic, gorgeous ocean view, nice hot tub. Steep stairs to the 2nd floor. The furnishing are all fine...sort of cabin quality...but cozy and conducive to hanging out and relaxing. The pay off is in the easy access to two amazing beaches....one miles long and sandy and great for walks, the other small and rocky and great for exploring. Moe's is right there for the cup of chowder or marion berry cobbler.
we hesitate to recommend this place too highly because we want it available to us next year!!! our family had the best time, young and old ! the devil's punch bowl area, the views to die for ! We'll be back for sure!!
Our visit to the Red House was everything we hoped it would be! Sunsets and stargazing from the hot tub and watching the blue jays at the bird feeder provided much relaxation. The view was stellar from the deck as well as several rooms in the house. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and appliances. The beach and Devils
It was very nice location with in easy walking distance to devils punch bowl. Close to Newport to go for groceries etc...
The stairs and upstairs floor was VERY squeaky so was hard to be quiet when the baby was sleeping. But that was the only thing we weren't happy about.
Cozy and quaint! Located next to amazing beaches and fun surfing. A must stay!
The little Red House was magnificent. We will be back!
Lovely well maintained very homelike views to die for
The Red House was a great place for the whole family-2 grandparents, 2 parents, and 2 children. Well stocked, comfortably furnished, and the view was unbeatable. Exploring the tidal pools and walking through the neighboring woods and to Moe's West for chowder (and other goodies) were just a few of the fun activities we could enjoy without getting in our car. Our visit was in early April and the weather was typical coastal Oregon spring weather but did not put a damper on our fun.
I brought my family to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. My mother felt so comfortable she kept saying how she felt at home. We enjoyed the amazing view from many different rooms in the house and watched the sunset while soaking in the hot tub on the deck. The grill was in great condition but we had to replace the propane tank during our stay. The stairs that lead to the upstairs bedroom were a little difficult for my mom to climb so she stayed downstairs in the twin bed. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed and the linens were all fresh. There was a nice supply of clean towels and wash cloths for the family to use. Overall, we had a magical time and will definitely return.
Love this house. It has modern conveniences but also has a quaint feel. It has plenty of room and places for private time as well!
And a beautiful view.
We loved our stay at red house. It was easy to find and had lots of space. The kids loved the tv upstairs. We will be booking this house again next year!
The Red House felt perfect the moment we arrived. There was plenty of space for our group to sleep and have alone places too. There were plenty of dishes and silverware as well other cooking utensils and all were in excellent condition. We are considering staying here again in the spring.
We go to the Oregon coast every winter and this was one of the best rentals we have found. There were four adults and three children (two babies and a preschooler) and the house was plenty big. The house is nicely remodeled and everything is very clean. The views are awesome and the location is perfect for walking to a beach of driving into a town. We would definitely recommend this place to others and plan to stay here again.
Incredible view of the ocean from almost the entire main floor. Clean stocked kitchen.
Very nice, homey comfortable home.
The fact that it was so well stocked with everything we needed to serve Christmas dinner was a big plus.
The only caution is the steep stairway accessing the upper floor.
We will be visiting it again in the future. It was great for our family.
If you want to be in the thick of the action, this isn't the place for you.
But if privacy, peace, and incredible views are for you, this is it.
I worried about whether to bring my coffee maker. I needn't have. Not only was there a nice drip coffee maker, there was a hot pot for tea and a French press . We even found a popcorn maker.
Many such places have eclectic furniture, second hand and a little shabby. This place was eclectic without the shabby, and put together very well. It felt welcoming, from the extra soap and towels in the baths to extra coat hangers and thoughtful wall hooks in the entrance way. Family games, huge flat panel TV, and a very nice grill on one of the two nice decks.
We'll be back next year.
Caution - if you have trouble navigating stairs, these are particularly nasty.
We took our extended cab truck and I had to back in (or out) of property about 60 feet. Driveway is a narrow with a slight incline and a 45° corner at the top. If Red House at Otter Rock will have us, we will go back again but take our Subaru.
So relaxing and room for family fun.. The old stairs are creaking good fun!
The home was wonderful, very unique details and we enjoyed the original art throughout. The cottage is much better in person than the photos even. Wonderful location so close to the beach and beautiful views from the deck. Perfect spot to explore Newport and Depot Bay while nestled in the small, quiet town of Otter Rock. We enjoyed our stay.
We loved our stay at this darling beach house! The view is beautiful from the large living room and kitchen windows. The kitchen is very well stocked, we could have served an army with all the dishes provided. There aren't many restaurants close by (just a small Mo's) but Depoe Bay and Newport are a short drive away. As mentioned in the house description, the stairs are steep, and they aren't kidding! The two bedrooms with the queen size beds are both located up stairs. The two bedrooms down stairs both have twin size beds (day bed with trundle in one, day bed in the other), so that configuration might not work for all families, though it was perfect for us.
We loved the privacy (barely could see any neighbors)and the close beach access. We would have really enjoyed the spacious deck and gas grill, if the weather would have cooperated. It's a charming beach cottage!
We so enjoyed staying at the Red House. The weather was perfect and there were so many whales and beautiful sunsets. Quick access to the beach. Very well supplied kitchen.
The Red House was fabulous. It's roomy but cozy, with an artsy beach cabin feel. It's a perfect home base for exploring the coast north and south. We headed to the Tillamook area to take the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad and visit the attractions to the north. Another day we went south to the sand dunes and wandered around Florence. But mostly its a beautiful spot to sit and watch the whales from the deck and to play on the beaches within walking distance of the house. We can't wait to return.
I had alot of fun bringing my daughters and my mom to see oregon I am in process of moving to Lincoln city oregon and wanted them to see the area
