Secluded, rustic log house on three acres - dog-friendly & close to town!

If you're after seclusion in a rustic mountain environment, this is the place for you. Perfect for families, groups, or multiple couples, this dog-friendly log house vacation rental provides a comfortable, homey space for up to seven guests to gather and rejuvenate in a peaceful natural setting, while putting you in close proximity to town for dining and shopping of all kinds.

Located just four miles from the San Juan National Forest Trailhead, 15 miles from downtown Durango, and 12 miles from shopping, gas, and other essentials, this rustic log home offers you the best of both worlds - seclusion and the great outdoors, as well as modern convenience.

Cozy, with lots of wood and soft, comfy furnishings, this rental will make you feel right at home. Enter on the ground level and pass through the laundry room/storage area. The kitchen comes next with wood floors, a convenient center island, and a wood-burning stove. Start your morning on a bright note, thanks to the plentiful and bright green counter tops and red accent wall.

The standard stove/oven and refrigerator, along with ample storage and counter space, provide you with all the essentials for easy and delicious meal prep. Keep it casual as you all enjoy breakfast at the two breakfast bars, which seat a total of seven, with one at a bank of windows that face out onto beautiful mountain greenery.

The dining area is just off the kitchen. It seats six and opens to a deck through sliding glass doors. Enjoy each other's company over dinner and catch up on life events, then wander out onto the deck with your favorite beverage as you continue the conversation and watch the sun set behind towering pines.

When the mountain air starts to chill, come inside and get cozy on the comfortable furniture in the living room. Stoke a fire in the wood-burning stove and warm up as you take in a movie or show on the flatscreen TV. If you can't agree on what to watch, rest assured that there's another lounge area in the loft on the second floor with a stereo and comfortable seating.

This three-bedroom, two-bath home accommodates up to seven guests. Stay on the first floor, close to the living space and full bath, and rest well on the queen-size bed. Or choose the master bedroom on the second floor, also with a queen-size bed and a large picture window. The third floor is comfortable and provides the basics with a double bed and a twin.

Your dogs are also welcome to join you at this home, which offers a fenced-in pet area in the backyard. Please note, however, that a nightly pet fee applies.

You could easily spend your days lounging in this comfy rental, enjoying the sun on the deck, catching up on your reading, or just snoozing, but if you want to get out, you'll be just a few miles from San Juan National Forest and its 1.8 million acres of hiking trails and waterways. Take a leisurely hike through gorgeous terrain, or paddle your way down the San Juan River on a raft or kayak. Visit Vallecito Reservoir, just a little over six miles away, for boat and stand-up paddleboard rentals, restaurants, and bars.

Make your way into Durango and check out the many casual and fine dining options, as well as Toh-Atin Gallery for authentic Native American art. Wander through historic downtown for one-of-a-kind shops, and learn about the rich history of this charming mountain community.

Start making plans for that mountain retreat you've been wanting to take, and book your dates today to reserve this comfortable log home that will provide you the solitude you want and the conveniences you need.

This cabin is best for folks who like to fully unplug and unwind. Phone reception is not stellar and you might have to travel a bit for reception. This home also has limited water supply, so conservation for larger groups or longer stays is certainly appreciated!

Had a great time and the space was perfect for our families needs. The only challenge was water pressure when two people take a shower at the same time.

First the good. House was clean and had everything(appliances, etc) one would expect in their home. The exterior was a log cabin although the interior did not reflect it.
The not so good. The road was very noisy. Both showers cannot be used at the same time...not enough pressure. The second floor pocket door to the bathroom was broken and temporarily trapped whoever used it. This needs to be fixed before it is rented again. The third floor would be great in the winter but was a little warm during our summer stay. The loud colors in the photos are louder in person. I don't know art but I found some of it grotesque and not suitable for small children. Not a real concern for us but it should be mentioned for future renters, the house is on a hill and there are multiple stairs to the entry door.
Review would improve if 1) pocket door was repaired 2) more water pressure to be able to utilize both showers at once 3) remove artwork with bull with human's face and testicles showing or whatever the art was depicting, 4) Remove the other artwork that looks like a devils horns on a man or indian.
If it sounds like I am nitpicking, I apologize, It was just not what we expected in a log cabin. Improve some or all of this and a better review would follow. This being said Vacasa was easy to work with.

I loved this place! Will stay here again! The house is amazing! We really appreciated all the art. Very close to town and between both lakes. Has everything you need! Just bring food! Very beautiful home. Cant wait to go back.

OK place, but very close to the busy county road. And no real good places to hike within walking distance.

We had a great stay at this property. The house was clean and comfortable, everything was in working order, a beautiful, rustic home. Internet and Dish network worked well. Durango is such a great place to visit - something for everyone. We will stay there again.

Close enough to town to be convenient. Far enough away to feel like you're in the mountains. The furnishings are nice and the surrounding area is really quite beautiful.
