Ocean view cabin w/ deck and garden, a short walk to the beach and lighthouse!
Relax, unplug, and enjoy the stunning scenery of the Northern California Coast at this three-bedroom Mendocino retreat, a rustic and comfortable cabin with an ocean view deck, a yard with lovely gardens, and a beautiful location within a short stroll of the beach.
Scenically situated on a one-acre lot filled with flowers and cypress trees, this single-level home is just a quarter-mile from Frolic Cove Beach, one mile from Caspar Beach, and one mile from the historic Point Cabrillo Light Station. You'll also find wonderful restaurants, galleries, and ocean views in Mendocino four miles south and Fort Bragg eight miles north.
Whether you're planning a romantic getaway or a quiet family vacation, the living space is well-equipped to meet your needs. Step inside to find floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the trees and ocean, a cozy gas stove for foggy evenings, and a selection of books, board games, and puzzles to keep you entertained.
The absence of WiFi and reliable cell phone service will allow you to reconnect with loved ones and spend your days beach-combing, birding, and whale-watching. You will, however, have a satellite TV, a DVD player for movie nights, and a landline for local calls.
Wake up each morning to grind and brew your own coffee in the full galley kitchen, which also features a dishwasher for your convenience. Step outside to read the newspaper on the ocean-facing deck, or sit down for breakfast with your family around the dining table for six.
Take a morning walk along the bluffs to the lighthouse and return home to fire up the gas grill for a barbecue. As the sun begins to set, bring one of the provided beach chairs down to the sand or relax on the deck as your kids play in the yard.
With three bedrooms, one full bathroom, and one half-bath in the garage, Carole's Cove will accommodate as many as six guests. The bedrooms feature wood-paneled walls and patterned coverlets, offering a total of two queen-size beds and one double bed. The full bathroom has a tub/shower combination.
And don't worry about hiking through the surrounding sand and coastal flora - this home comes with a private washer/dryer as well.
As one of California's best examples of unspoiled natural beauty, Mendocino is a place to escape the pressures of everyday life. Admire the majestic views of the ocean and lighthouse just a few steps from your door, play a round of golf at the Little River Inn seven miles south, or take a ride through the redwoods on the historic Skunk Train that departs from Fort Bragg.

This home was in the perfect location for hiking and beach going. It was well stocked with essentials which was very appreciated. The beds were comfortable and place was so comfortable. The view of the cliff was so nice. We had the most wonderful time!
The attention to details is what awesome about this home
The kitchen is nicely appointed, the views of the trees, animals, and not a spec of dust to be found anywhere.....the linens where all fluffy, and the beds extremely comfortable
Even both clocks were exactly the same time!?
I can’t say enough about the comfort and cleanliness of this home and would stay again, in a heart beat.
Thankyou so much to the homeowners for providing a very very nice stay for us. we couldn’t have enjoyed it more
Carole's Cove was a great place to spend a relaxing few days along the Mendocino Coast. The home was very cozy, came with a fully stocked kitchen and is located conveniently to both Mendocino and Fort Bragg. I could not recommend it more and I look forward to going back!
We loved staying here It was very homey, well equipped kitchen and a cupboard full of spices and other things you only need a little of. We had a lot of rain and a two hour power failure. Even found a lantern which we never had to use.
Only drawback was no other source of heat when the power went out.
The cottage was very lovely and had everything one would need to have an enjoyable stay. The area is quiet yet close enough to both Fort Bragg and Mendocino for supplies or enjoying the variety of dining establishments in both towns. Watching the wildlife out the cabin windows each morning was a delight. Close enough to several coastal access points to enjoy the beach and maybe even spot some whales as we did.
This cabin is in a good location between Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable for the five of us.
I had never stayed at a VRBO and Carols Cove seemed to seemed to have anticipate our every need Thank you!
The location, the quaintness of the home/property, proximity to the ocean and excellent views
The home was ideal for our stay. It is close to town, the coast, numerous trails and continuously visited by deer. If it had just one king bed (as opposed to its three queen beds), the amenities would be perfect.
Loved how peaceful and relaxed we felt staying here. Really enjoyed the amazing weather. Was cool and clear most of our stay. Area beaches were fun to visit as well as being so close to the Point Cabrillo Light Station. Home is cozy and well equipped. Perfect for a week away to unplug and unwind.
The house was just perfect for our family of 6. Beautiful home, great location, very comfortable, well stocked kitchen. Would have loved to stay longer. Thanks!
Everything was perfect at this cute little cottage. Kitchen stocked with everything you need, great big yard beautifully landscaped, excellent views, very quiet. Best location halfway between Mendocino Village and Fort Bragg. Highly recommend!
Comfortable and clean cottage very well equipped. We loved hearing the sea lions from the deck and walking down to see them in the morning. The bicycles in the garage were an added bonus .
Loved the feel and energy of this house. Very cozy and a great location. A great getaway for family and friends. House is well maintained and supplied with everything you need to create special memories.
A great location. View was wonderful. Very well stocked kitchen. Hope to visit again. The neighborhood is very quiet and neat
Two of my friends and I rented the house for a girl's weekend on the coast. The house was perfect for us. We had everything we needed, including a very well equipped kitchen. We loved the location with easy access to both Fort Bragg and Mendocino and we also loved that we could see the ocean. Deer and wild turkeys visited us every day. We would definitely come back again!
Really nice little house. Very cozy, and we were the only ones in the whole neighborhood,so it was especially peaceful. Really nice having such close access to the bluff trail.
This was our 3rd stay at Carols Cove and we look forward to returning. The house is in a beautiful location with gorgeous views all around. The house is fully furnished, especially the kitchen. The 2nd bathroom and shower in the garage was a plus...the guys loved it😉. Overall great, relaxing stay...we will be back!
Very well equipped, comfortable and cozy home. The use of the washer dryer in the garage is a nice extra. Only complaint was the use of chemically laundry soaps and fabric softeners that could be smelled when you first enter the house, and made the towels and bedding hard to use. Also the third bed needs replacing. Other than that, a very nice place!
This charming cottage is surrounded by a well tended beautiful garden located ear the cliffs and walking distance to Cabrillo light house
My friends and I loved staying at this location. It was the perfect distance from Fort Bragg and Mendocino. The view from the deck and living/dining area was beautiful. We loved the small touches of beach decor and the added bonus of games and movies.
The half bathroom in the garage is not attached to the house, you must walk outside to access it--rain/cold. The pictures of the ocean are not taken from the home. Home has a small distant view of ocean
We spent 5 days with family for our 25th wedding anniversary at Carols Cove. Great for our family of six. Not a big house.. but we never even noticed. Very cozy and we enjoyed the gas fireplace. Kept us toasty on the foggy days. The yard was great for kids! Very quiet and well maintained. We will stay here again for sure! We loved Carols Cove.. Carol is blessed to have such a great getaway. ❤️ PS.. if you’re a cook, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare a great meal!
We loved the cabin, it's perfect for a quiet week away from the crowd. Daily walks along the bluffs thru Point Cabrillo State Park with gorgeous views in all directions. Gray Fox came to the porch for a visit one evening! Turkeys, deer and migrating songbirds each day. The woodstove draws great and the kitchen is very well appointed for cooking, and the gas grill burns nice and hot. We'll be back as soon as we can!
Exceeded my expectations.
The title makes clear our concern, given two young, curious children.
Perfect for a couple exploring the Mendocino/Ft. Bragg area. Highly recommended if you like quiet and beautiful surroundings.
We fully enjoyed this cabin!
Carol's Cove was a welcoming site. It was overall clean, with just a couple things not up to par. The location was great. Peaceful and pleasant. Decorated nicely. Also very comfortable. We had a fox and raccoon come by looking for food. Was really nice to see nature at its best. Also saw a fawn and her twins. We truly had a wonderful time and were very pleased with the place. I would recommend it in a heartbeat.
Carol's Cove is a great get-away. Ocean view with a comfy fire. Well stocked kitchen. Perfect for my mom, BFF and myself.
Great location, central to many activities and a very quiet neighborhood. All the essentials needed in the house and nice private sheltered yard at the rear. Saw deer wandering through daily and a fox one morning. Good showers and second bathroom in the garage was very helpful for our group.
We loved this house for un-winding and relaxing during our 4 day stay. The house was so cozy and the wood burning stove was a highlight for using every morning to warm the house up. The large windows were perfect for seeing the ocean everyday and being able to sit out and relax, have a cup of coffee and enjoy nature! The kitchen was used a lot as we cooked most of our meals while there. The best feature was that it was so well stocked with everything for cooking...also using the BBQ a few times. Loved relaxing in the evening watching some great DVD's or taking a walk to the nearby Cabrillo Lighthouse or just go exploring on a walk to the cliffs above the ocean...very serene and peaceful. Loved seeing the wildlife everyday...many deer and our nightly visit from the raccoon that greeted us when we first arrived. The house was in a grove with other houses and it was extremely quiet...plus just a drive up or down the coast to the quaint coastal cities of Mendocino or Ft. Bragg..lots to see and many great places to eat or enjoy a cup of coffee. The Harvest grocery store is another great place to buy food or items that you need...they have a great selection and everyone is very helpful and nice. You can also sight see in Mendocino and see the house where "Murder She Wrote" was filmed...and a great Pizza place is called Frankies...the employees are great and they also have ice cream. I would give the house we stayed in a 10...just a very nice atmosphere and the real feel of having an outdoor adventure on the beautiful Northern California coast!
Beautiful location with comforts of a modern home. The house heats with a wood fireplace which was not a problem in June, though the nights were a little cold. There is also one electric heater for a bedroom.
Looks bigger on photos than actually is. No heater but well stocked with wood and kindling. Just beware no wifi - I couldn't use my phone at house - no cell service but otherwise a nice cute place and comfy beds.
The house was small but had a great location with a terrific view of the sea. Note that the 1/2 bath is in the garage.
We were very pleased with this property. It was the perfect setting to enjoy both the woods and sea. Since it was spring everything was green and beautiful with flowers blooming and plenty of wildlife to watch. Carole's Cove felt tranquil and welcoming .The view of the ocean was great. The home is very well equipped and is in a quiet and pleasant neighborhood. Young children would enjoy its large yard and nearby Caspar Beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would come again.
Such a wonderful experience. Step out the door and your greeted with God's beauty. This house is so well a ed and equipped. Can't wait to go back.
We loved our stay at Carole's Cove. Beautiful, quiet location and yet so close to Mendocino.
House was located in a quiet area with beautiful sceneries. All locations that we visited (light house, Downtown Mendocino, Glass Beach, etc) were located reasonably close 10-15 drive. Will definitely come back again.
We loved view, walks to lighthouse and beach... great place, great time.
Our first trip to Mendocino was so wonderful and part of what made it so was the adorable cabin. It rained our entire trip but that made the whole experience even more idyllic.
We loved the home, the kitchen is great- everything you could possibly need. The view outside is tremendous. The wood stove makes everything so perfect. It's location is a little difficult for walking anywhere but walking in the neighborhood is stunning. We really could not have been happier!
We loved Carol's Cove!!! The house was very cozy, comfortable and most importantly very clean!! This house is such a relaxing home! Loved the fact that we didn't lack for anything during our stay here!! Thank you for sharing your home!!
Loved the location of Carole's Cove: close to everything, light house and beaches to walk and a few minutes drive to parks, restaurants, sights and shopping. Had great weather mix of rain, clouds, and sun! Enjoyed the wood burning stove, had wifi most of the time not terrible even though it was nice to unplug and see all the things the area had to offer. Lots of wildlife-deer, turkeys, lots of birds, saw whale spouts from the window and then along every beach. Well stocked and a great place overall! Thanks for everything!
This was our 2nd time staying at Carols Cottage and we will be back. The Cottage has large windows that look out to the ocean. The house and grounds have so many interesting artistic touches. For those who like to cook, the kitchen is fully stocked and there is a large BBQ in the garage. We cooked 2 out of the 3 days we were there. The outdoor bathroom was a big plus. Feels like home from the minute you walk in! Beautiful
We had visited Mendocino with a goal to celebrate the New Year Eve. I chose Carol's Cove for it and was right! The perfect property for a quiet family vacation either the reunion of some kind couples. Nice design of rooms, well-equipped kitchen, lovely view from the window - everything was great and got us excited. Also, I like that this peninsula has the convenience store and some other services. I like the beaches and trails around a house. Leaving it, we felt relaxed and rested well. Hope, we could come there in a summer time.
lovely peaceful house in nice area. View of ocean. Large yard. Completely furnished with kitchen equipment.
We had a wonderful time for our stay at Carol's Cove. It was a perfect location for coastal walks and easy trips into Mendocino and Ft Bragg. Fun deer and wild turkey sightings, and such a great view from the front room. We were there late November - and it was pretty cold for a SoCaler, but the fireplace and small heaters for the rooms kept us all very comfortable - even the kids. Kitchen had everything we needed for meal prep, and it was really nice to have a washer/dryer.
The house is located < 5mins from Caspar beach and < 10 mins from Mendocino town.
We were a group of divers and the place was comfortable for us to rinse off our gear etc after dive.
Close to most dive spots.
Had a TV with Direct TV connection, which was nice.
Had a gas bbq, which we didn't use.
It rained most of the weekend we were there, so we didn't quite enjoy the outside area.
Good house, will stay here again.
Quaint yet plenty of room for six. House is in good shape and very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the view of the ocean from the living room! The wood stove kept it warm inside and outside we appreciated very much the gas grill for bbqing. Lovely yard with ample room for the kids to run and play!
Everything was as advertised - lovely little place and location. Nice to be able to walk right out on to the bluffs from the trail at the end of the street, and convenient to beaches and town.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Explored neighboring state park. Having access to propane grill and w/d made it like home, only better.
We had a very nice time. The house was very clean and I will be back.
