Beautiful luxury wine country riverfront house on the Pedernales - dog-friendly!

In the heart of the Texas Hill Country and the Fredericksburg wine country, in a stunning setting just feet from the Pedernales River, is this dog-friendly, modern Texas home surrounded by acres of shady oak and pecan trees, deer and abundant wildlife, and country serenity. Whether you are looking for a getaway with someone special or want to gather with friends or family, there is no other place in the Hill Country that can match the riverside beauty and the unique wine country location of this luxury vacation rental.

Even with the charming German town of Fredericksburg just an eight-minute drive away you may never want to leave this incredible three-bedroom, three-bath, two-story Texas paradise. Each bedroom has a king-size bed and a breathtaking view of the river or the grounds, and there is a loft with adult-friendly bunk beds and upscale mattresses that sleeps six. Two more guests can sleep in two rollaway beds. This home is truly stunning with a white stone exterior, 20-foot vaulted ceilings in the main living area, tile floors, and unique Texas decor.

If you decide to venture out, within four miles of the gate you’ll find 17 wineries, a German brewery, the Wild Seed Farm, and famous Luckenbach where you can drink beer under the oak trees, western dance, and listen to the music. The main street in Fredericksburg is just eight miles away, where you’ll discover incredible shops, museums, live music, and food from barbecue to steaks to cosmopolitan dining. There's also ample wine tasting opportunities and a micro brewery. If you want to take short day trips, you can hike at Enchanted Rock State Park, visit the Bat Tunnel State Park, follow the river five miles to LBJ National Park, or visit Austin and San Antonio 70 miles away.

After a thrilling day you can enjoy the private sauna, or grab a glass of your favorite wine and relax on one of the covered patios to listen to the sounds of the river and watch the sky change colors. Bring binoculars, since you're sure to see an abundance of diverse wildlife that lives on the property, including deer, antelope, wading birds, hawks, turkeys, and much more.

If you decide not to enjoy dinner out, you can prepare your own in the well-equipped gourmet kitchen with ample granite counters and a separate dining area. Stainless steel major appliances are accompanied by a dishwasher, microwave, and even smaller appliances like blender, toaster, and slow cooker. Caffeine lovers, rejoice - there are four different ways to brew coffee! Just bring your ingredients and everything from five-course meals to plates of appetizers are a snap. There is a large open fire pit overlooking the river where steaks, chicken or burgers can be cooked, and also a portable propane grill.

After dinner, you’ll have trouble deciding whether to return to the patio to listen to the night sounds of the river, or go inside to enjoy music or watch a movie on one of the three televisions with satellite. You'll also have WiFi and a DVD library. And don’t stay up too late, since there is nothing better than coffee at sunrise watching wildlife on a Texas river.

The home is dog-friendly (with a 25-pound weight limit and nightly pet fee) and welcomes children. It is available for weddings and reunions by separate arrangement - please call Vacasa for more details.

The River House is not just a place to stay, it is truly an experience. Your special someone, family, or friends will count the days until they can come back and do it all over again. A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

You must be 21 years or older to rent this property.

Close to downtown Fredericksburg but yet nestled in a quiet country paradise. The river is absolutely beautiful in the mornings after a therapeutic shower in the master bathroom. No complaints about this beautiful spot.

This house is really pretty well supplied and comfortable..... the grounds however are absolutely breathtaking. Gorgeous trees, shady and beautiful views.

The house was as shown in the pictures and on a large 50+ acre lot. I think we were the first people to stay there in a while as it didnt feel totally clean and had a smell that either went away or we became used to it. Certainly the outside patio area needed a cleaning. The fire pit is not like in the pictures. The chairs are rusty and there was no firewood. The kitchen was not well stocked. Lastly, if you are looking for total quiet and low light pollution, the highway is fairly close and the stars on a clear night were just ok. However, all of those negatives were certainly countered by a well appointed home, a fantastic view of the river, some wild animals, and closeness to the city. I think a lot of these issues can be easily fixed and probably aren't present in the height of the season. We would definitely return despite the few shortcomings, knowing a little better of what to expect. With that being said, at this price point, the management should do a better job for the owners in the upkeep of the house.
Manager response:
We appreciate your feedback following your stay, Sandeep. We are glad to know you had a good stay despite some of the issues you faced. We have passed your comments along to be appropriately addressed by our local manager, who will also work with the homeowner to make any updates. We hope we have the opportunity to host you again in the future.

Great location for extended weekend family vacation spot.
All amenities were good except trash cans were full upon arrival…
Manager response:
We are happy you enjoyed this great location! We apologize that the trash cans were not emptied. The manager has assured us that the trash was taken care of and that he has new staffing and schedules in place to alleviate the chance of that happening again in the future. We hope that you will allow us to host you again soon!

Beautiful setting. The house worked well for six adults and six children seven and under.

There were 8 of us for a multiple birthday family weekend. The home was everything we expected and more. Close to the wineries we like and close to Fredericksburg for a birthday dinner. A beautiful property; we will be back.

We all enjoyed this beautiful home.
Wynand v. Jun 2019
Really enjoyed the understated luxury and privacy this gem offered. You can spend hours listening to the river and watching the birds. Property has lots of space and is highly recommended.

This is the equivalent of a British "stately" home. Comfortable yet elegant, meticulous grounds. Everything you could need in terms of climate control, security, quietness, space.
Jennifer C. Apr 2019
Wow! This was the most peaceful getaway! The home is spacious and accomadated our needs. The outdoor area was just fabulous! Would definitely stay here again :)

The only thing better than the inside of this house is the outside of this house. Highly recommended.

What a gorgeous home and location! Wish we could have stayed longer! Beds were comfortable, you could tell from all the snoring. Lol.
Jenelle B. Dec 2018
We loved the open floor plan downstairs and the fantastic master suite. The whole house is well decorated and just lovely.

The River House is gorgeous in a beautiful scenic setting. We loved our time spent there and plan to return in the future! Also, working with VACASA was a dream. Extremely pleasant and accommodating. Thank you very much for a memorable time.

Very Clean, very spacious, great kitchen, comfy beds, beautiful grounds, no rain so no water in the river. 10 girls for a long weekend. We loved it.
Stephanie D. Jul 2018
The house was beautiful and very well appointed. Beds were comfortable, and bathrooms had plenty of towels. The grounds are gorgeous with lots of deer roaming around. Location is perfect with easy access to 290 but no hint of traffic noise when sitting on the back porch. We will definitely return!

The river house was the perfect size for our family of 11 which included 9 adults and 2 children. Most importantly it was CLEAN!
Everything needed in baths and the kitchen was there plus more. The grounds were beautiful with lots of room for walking and exploring. It is Close to town so we did not waste time traveling when we chose to enjoy the shopping and all other things to do in Fredericksburg. We all had a wonderful experience there and plan to go again.

The house and property are beautiful and immaculately maintained! There are 3 rooms, each with a double bed, but it also has a landing with 3 twin bunk beds (6 total twins), plus 2 rollaway beds stored in the closet. I was very impressed not only with the house, but with the beautiful grounds. The owner has little manicured sitting areas set up through the property, which is a nice touch. The wildlife refuge that leads to the house has cows, antelope, and a variety of birds, which adds to the experience. Highly recommend!

Excellent and beautiful property!!
Charles R. Apr 2018
We spent 2 nights here celebrating a milestone birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the house, grounds and proximity to town. The house easily accommodated 10 adults in style and comfort. I have plans to reserve again in the near future.
Abdon R. Mar 2018
This was a great location for 4 kids under the age of 7.....amazing memories!
DANA B. Mar 2018
What a beautiful and peaceful place! Our family immensely enjoyed this property. Great home and the surroundings are beyond beautiful. No regrets!!
Valerie N. Dec 2017
A group of ten gals stayed here last weekend and we absolutely loved the property. It was close to all the fun wineries and to town but felt secluded and private once on the property. The river running behind the home was gorgeous. Rooms were spacious, comfortable beds, and enough bathrooms for a big crew. Kitchen was well stocked and spacious enough to bring in a chef to cook us a private dinner in the home. We loved the house and would recommend for families, big groups, girls weekends, couples trips etc. It checks all the boxes!
Janee R. Nov 2017
House is great for medium size groups. Response to minor maintenance issues was excellent. Lovely grounds with many birds and animals.
Sandra P. Oct 2017
We loved the location a little outside of town. The house is beautiful. It is hard to understand conversation in the great room, as everything echoes very badly. Overall everything was great!
J Keith M. Sep 2017
It is misleading to say there is a 4th bedroom/bunk room in the house. There are 6 child sized bunk beds shoved into an alcove on the stair landing overlooking the great room. There is no privacy and only one bathroom upstairs. Very disappointing/bait and switch. We had to put several of our guests in a separate hotel in Fredericksburg at significant expense. On the plus side, the butterfly garden in front of the home was lovely, as was the back patio and the view of the river.
Manager response:
We're sorry the guest felt misled by not reviewing the entire listing page for this home. It is not advertised as a 4 bedroom house. The listing clearly states a 3-bedroom setup with a loft area. The photo gallery will be reviewed to determine if updates are necessary. Thank you.
Allen H. Aug 2017
We had 4 generations of family for a mini vacation. The home is beautiful. The grounds are amazing. The deer and the antelope played, literally. My family said this is one of best places we have ever stayed.
Teresa W. Aug 2017
Our first destination family reunion was a huge success due mainly to the River House! The layout of the house and surrounding property provided ample space for relaxing, eating, exploring, and visiting! It allowed our family members who came from as far away as New York to spend valuable time together and renew family bonds with their Texas relatives!! The loft was perfect for the children, the fire pit was used for s'mores, the Pedernales River and 56 acres were explored with excitement! The home was definitely a Memory Maker!
Vince P. Jul 2017
Big property. Great location amongst the vineyards and proximity to town. Nice that it's a wildlife reserve. House was big and met our needs for 10 of us (5 adults, 5 kids) celebrating my mom's 80th. But...the price was too steep when you add up all the extra expenses. We rented this property once but we won't rent it again. If money is no object to you, knock yourself out, rent it. You'll love it.
Stacey R. May 2017
This property is an amazing place to stay......not only inside but also outside. The house is very well stocked and very clean. We really didn't want to leave the property to go into Fredericksburg...but we did....we needed WINE !!
Jamie S. Apr 2017
Very nice!
Debi D. Apr 2017
The Home was beautiful and very private with the perdernalas river behind it and antelope playing in the fields. So restful yet close enough to town that you never had to cook if you didn't want to but a full kitchen was available if you wished to never leave home. I loved it there.
Rhonda P. Mar 2017
We rented the house to have a bachelorette weekend. This house was plenty big for 12 girls. This house has gorgeous views and is on a river. It is really in the best location to get to the wineries which is only miles away and to get to town for some shopping. Its an absolutely impressive home to stay at and would recommend anyone to stay.
Ian K. Nov 2016
Great place to sit back and relax. Whether your inside person or outside person this house can accommodate. Very relaxing weekend.
Jaynelle D. Oct 2016
This was literally the most beautiful place I think I've ever stayed at. We booked this home for a girls weekend away and none of us could get enough of it. Each day we started our mornings on the back deck drinking coffee and listening to the water and wildlife all around us. This property will remind you of how blessed we are to be living in God's country... defiantly a piece of heaven.
An added plus, the Trade Day event was less than a half a mile down the road and Fredericksburg was only about 10 miles away.
