We stayed here 5 days and loved it so much!
There were 7 of us 4 adults and three boys.
Lots of room and there were games for the kids to play and three televisions and 2 1/2 baths that made is so convenient.
Loved the deck we would set out in the evening and had dinner on it a few times.
Had a few deer come through early in the morning .
Lovely home . Would stay again !

Capen Cabin is beautiful and sits in a lovely, quiet, wooded setting where you can hear and see birds singing all around you in the summer. It has a cozy, comfortable feel to it, which we loved; and it boasts an extensive and interesting book collection. There are many lovely antiques filling the cabin, too.

The beds that we used (only used 2 because there’s just 3 of us) were very comfortable, and the kitchen has everything one may need for preparing meals. We cooked in every meal except two over the course of a week, and it had all we needed. It was great to have a good laundry setup as well.

We loved all the light that fills the main rooms of the cabin, and the wrap-around deck is fantastic. While hanging out at the cabin, we enjoyed walking around the pretty subdivision and going to see breathtaking Electra Lake. The higher elevation of the cabin over Durango means that you get crisp, wonderful mornings instead of waking up to already hot temperatures.

Capen Cabin is conveniently located for doing so many things in summer - going into Durango or Silverton, visiting Purgatory, hiking, 4WD exploration, boating, fishing (lake and river), swimming, picnicking, etc.

One of our favorite activities while there was hiking Engineer Mountain Trail. We were surrounded by wildflowers the entire hike and got to see views that no words can describe! We also very much enjoyed going on the shorter Rockwood-Cascade Falls ride (about 3 hours round trip) on the D&S Narrow-Gauge Railroad. The Rockwood depot is convenient to the cabin - about 10-15 minutes away - and it’s much easier to park there vs. the Durango depot. The ride offers beautiful views and a fascinating look into Colorado history.

At the end of the week, we didn’t want to go home! We hope to get back for another stay soon. Highly recommend it!

We loved this home. Our Granddaughters were begging for more time. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the am. It is so lovely and comfortable in this cabin.
My son and daughter in law walked the dog in the morning and night. We explored silverton, Durango and Ouray. We traveled to mesa Verde to the sand dunes and to canyons of the ancients. We enjoyed the seclusion of the cabin and were happy to get in at night for dinner and comfortable sleeping.

The Capen Mountain Cabin is located in a beautiful forest away from the noise of any town or highway. The location is central to many activities and attractions, including dining and shopping venues. From here you can drive in any direction and find beautiful, inspiring scenery and you can't beat the mountain air! Great cabin, well maintained and the décor is great. We will be back if at all possible and have already recommended the cabin to family and friends. Great Vacasa experience!

This is a home....not a house. It was very comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. We enjoyed staying here and walking the area, as well as it close proximity to anything we wanted to do. James Ranch for lunch, Honeyville for shopping, Purgatory for hiking and mountain biking, and beautiful day drives to Silverton and Ouray.

We spent Spring Break in the Capen Cabin. We had 3 kids and 5 adults. It was absolutely perfect!! There was plenty of room for all of us. The kids loved the loft room! The house was spacious and comfortable, and the property was beautiful!! We loved having coffee each morning on the large porch. It's located about 10 min from Purgatory and 20 min from Durango, so it was easy to go out for adevdntures during the day. This was exactly the vacation we had hoped for! We are already planning on returning next year!
